I'm a rotten Akiba-Online member in that I have no idea what's going on here, except for one or two departments... I found myself on this thread "accidentally," and I don't remember consciously running into C00Lzero before. (I was aware of the site being inaccessible days ago, and it was also very informative and interesting to get the ideas as to what was behind the disappearance, as C00Lzero patiently explained above.)

This site has some very terrific moderators. When one disappears, as ElGringo14 apparently has, it's saddening. (I wonder if anyone has some idea about what happened with him; hopefully, he is all right.)

Thank you very much for your obvious wonderful and highly useful efforts, C00Lzero. (Wow, you've been around for five years. Am I behind the times.) I can tell from your writing you have a great personality too, and you certainly were not exaggerating with the first syllable of your moniker. (Although you blew it with the second two, since you are obviously no zero.)

he is doing fine and is still around, just does not log in

as for information, on offline, we do not need other outside sources, if you come over to IRC, a lot of the on going questions can be answered, see you there, and if you hit the chat button above, you will find us, easy way to remember if we are offline, is to bookmark it, have fun, and chat, is not only akiba related, see you there

Glad to hear El Gringo is doing fine. I think about him from time to time myself.

As far as "outside resources" go, and I say this with all due respect; are you blind? I already not only said you have a facebook page but I even gave you the link to it. As far as the IRC channel goes not everyone has the link to it (try putting it on your facebook page?!) and that obviously didn't work as a solution since numerous people had no idea what was going on. I am not trying to be difficult I just don't understand why you are dismissive of an idea that wasn't mine but chompys' to begin with. All I suggested was you should keep it updated and use what the resources that you have to keep members informed in the event of a crash or similar type of crysis. You don't want to use it then get rid of the facebook page but if chompy thought you didn't need it he wouldn't have put it there in the first place. Now while I undersand that chompy is too busy for most Akiba-Online matters I don't understand why a staff member is too busy to update your facebook page every month or two.

And that is about all I have to say about that.

and again we went offline for a few minutes.
this time one of the raid-hdds crashed.

i've disabled the raid and enabled the nfs-shares in our network. So we are now back online.
But the hdd has to be replaced. this should be able to be handeled on the fly - in worst case, we have to reboot the sytsem -> approx. downtime from around 10 - 15mins (we will see)

p.s. the thing with the mail works really good : D
only 5 minutes after my automatic mail i received a mail from one of you. Thanks! :)

You can't block individual pages when HTTPS is used as you will see only a HTTP CONNECT request and after that an SSL tunnel is established which is used for all further HTTP communication.
There only way to get the single requests in a HTTPS connection is to "crack it" by a man-in-the-middle attack. Sounds maybe like hacking, but also security appliance (like Blue Coat) do that in a "normal way".
Therefore they have to block the whole HTTPS communication (means every HTTP CONNECT command). Just as a technical explanation.

The russian government also banned the russian server we once had.

We probably need to have a loli-DL-section (as well as torrent), that is not visible for unregistered users, in order to get rid of this :/
(the same we now have with loli-land)
I'm going to discuss this with the team.

Looks like you are being blocked by some Indonesian ISPs now.

well... that's shit.

I've now created a lot of sub-forums excplicitly for loli-content.
please help us to sort the threads by reporting them to us. We will then move them into the sub-forums.
These loli-sub-forums are only visible if you are registered. though we should be save from the crawlers. (i hope)

Clueless. Indonesia has some of the toughest anti-porn laws in the world, loli has nothing to do with it.

http://www.insideindonesia.org/hot-debates

From the Wiki:
In 2014, several sites including Vimeo, Reddit, and Imgur are censored as the government accused them of hosting content that includes nudity

Ever consider creating an onion domain? TPB has one and it is how I access them nowadays. Onion sites are unblockable. It would make a nice mirror to the site for poor souls who live in such countries.

well yes, but this will help us preventing other problems - e.g. with russia and court-rules...

yes, i have done this - and then moved it to a later day.
perhaps i'll find some time over christmas to get this working.

Smart. That is what I would call a "back-to-basics" solution to the problem.

if you experience a slow performance of the page:
1. Frontend 2 is offline - a replacement is installed - waiting for chompy to change the DNS
2. we hit the max. Transfer-rate of Frontent1 (100Mbit) - atm we can't deliver faster, asap frontend 2 will be online, this should settle itself, at least for a bit

sorry for any inconvenience caused :/

so,
sorry for the unplanned offline time.
I found a timeslot on which i was able to upgrade the hdds.

so now we got another ~400GB of HDD space.
If we also fill this one ... we have some serious problems, since then we need a bigger server ^^'

Also the traffic is rising since march15. Not sure what exactly happened there, but we doubled the traffic overnight (if you will)
Just a bit more and we also need another frontend-server to handle all the traffic >.<

Knowing the problem is half the battle (to quote GI Joe American Hero, sry but my kids used to love that show). Don't let Chomps sit on his haunches, you guys keep him motivated to the upgrades. Thx as always for all your hard efforts in keeping this forum afloat.
