Hello again
since I'm the one who started the conversation with Avatarthe about pytranscriber, here is an update.
First thanks to Avatarthe for taking the time to assist, it's apparant from the feedback that several are getting some benefit from his efforts.

Second, though not very technically oriented, I did give this a try.
The program went throught both stages ok, and I got a txt file and srt file in the same folder. I renamed the srt to txt, and dragged it into a chrome window. The translation looked like this for several pages.

OMO cafe
Bonus
Almond 00
Always delicious souvenirs

Long trip

This is
No, it ’s different from Canada.
I often say that the feeling of air is different in the west and east
Voice I see.
I ’m sorry, really.
Give birth and witness what to do
That's amazing
Yonago Standing up as a couple after listening to various stories
I wonder if you should attend with tofu
Experienced person

Copied this into a notepad file, then renamed it as srt and put it into the folder I wanted. Used VLC player and opened the srt, got this error message- VLC can't recognize the input's format:

Does the chrome window look correct? I was expecting some sort of formatting. Also the original Japanese didn't have any formatting.

regards

M
Like you said, Pytranscriber produces both a .txt and a .srt file, the. srt file contains the subs and the timing info, the .txt file just has the text. I know you say you changed the .srt file to a .txt file dragged that file to chrome for translation, however you result looks like you accidently dragged the .txt file created by Pytranscriber to chrome instead of the renamed .srt file. Try if again and make sure you use the .srt file that you renamed to a .txt file.

Yes, you were correct, I was more careful this time but only get the numbers on the playback screen now and not the dialogue.

here is what the translation showed in Chrome:
1
00: 00: 00,256-> 00: 00: 06,400
Yeah, it ’s hard.
Two
00: 00: 08,704-> 00: 00: 14,848
Kita-ku
Three
00: 00: 15,104-> 00: 00: 19,456
I will come out
Four
00: 00: 19,968-> 00: 00: 23,552
I'd love to
Five
00: 00: 23,808-> 00: 00: 28,416
It's a lock
6
00: 00: 28,672-> 00: 00: 34,048
I asked if it would be easier

Do I have to do something with this before I save it as a txt file to notepad?

Thanks for your patience.

... what bothers me the most is that there are some who should take advantage of a well-intentioned and free suggestion (which came in this case from @avatarthe) ... and from his inability to understand, accuse the benevolent, that he wanted to do ... in fact ... a bad one ... here's how I do with this PyTranscriber program: after I get the .srt file (this is for use, not the file .txt) I open it in notepad ++ (which is much more efficient) and I use it more as a check, because everything is ok (there are no numbers written in letters, no spaces between the digits of the times ... and if necessary, I recode it , but there is no need in this case) ... then I use the program "Edit subtitle" in which I can synchronize, edit and translate in my native language the whole subtitle ... in the end I re-open the subtitle so processed, where I make adjustments to my liking ... it's not easy, but it works ... anyway, I really appreciate the effort of @avatarthe and all those who posted subtitles, or suggestions trying to do a good (selfless) !!! ... I hope the dissatisfied did not ask for compensation!

You need to do steps 3 through 6 from my original instructions to fix the way the translation Process broke the timing format

... more than that ... @avatarthe wrote from the beginning that the program does not work wonders and even gave details (with these errors, which may occur) ... and if anyone does not understand, it is advisable to put common-sense questions ... not accusatory accusations that only bother!

You can translate in subtitle edit? I thought google broke the free translation access and now you needed a key, are you using google or Microsoft translate?

... always notifies me of a possible limitation and suggests that I buy API ... but, it always translates (even subtitles over 1000 lines) ... however I avoid making consecutive subtitles to several movies, especially, when the subtitle was with many lines ...

Oh yes! Subtitle edits does translate again! For a long time that wasn’t working. Thanks for the info, using subtitle edit after pytranscriber makes the process much easier!

I don't know what a proper srt format should look like so not sure what needs replacing.

"chrome screws a few thing up with the srt format

4. Replace all "->" with " -->"
5. Replace all ": " with ":"

This will be the last question, I know you all have better things to do. I have always enjoyed the work done here, and the helpfulness of the participants.
M

Note that the original STR file has lines like this:

00: 00: 07,424 -> 00: 00: 13,568 (note the spaces after the colon and "->" instead of "-->")

The final SRT should have lines like this:

00:00:07,424 --> 00:00:13,568

For this reason you must replace ": " with ":" and "->" with "-->".

Use "Replace all" button in Edit/Relpace... notepad option for greater ease.

Yes, I’ve run into problems with Pytranscriber crashing, always during step 2. Sometimes if you close up background programs and retry it it will work. I actually contacted the programs author about this and sent him a demo file that crashed ( a non porn Japanese film), it initially crashed on him but subsequently went through. He said he would look into it, HUD initial thoughts are

1., the video file is damaged and when the program hits the damaged area it crashes.
2., the internet connection is unreliable, the program opens multiple internet events while it’s working and if any are interrupted it will crash.

while he looks into it further he recommends splitting the movie filled into shorter chunks and processing the pieces separately.
Actually it may be internet issues that sometimes causes Pytranscriber to crash. I tried to transcribe one fIlm several times and each time it crashed, then I got a stilly idea... I activated my VPN and tried it again... it worked! It’s just one case so far but I will experiment some more tonight!

Thanks, have now completed replace etc. Replace is a good feature of notepad didn't know about it.
I am still getting just numbers on the playback, could you take a quick look below at what I have now to see if there are any obvious things I missed?

Your problem is with these: ->->, they should look like --> instead. So two times - and one > in that order.

... you made duplicate arrows replacements ... I don't know why you get so complicated with Notepad (it's more primitive) ... install Notepad ++ ... it works on another level ... it actually opens a subtitles without errors at times (with space after: and with arrows) nor numbers 1, 2, 3, ... replaced by letters (one, two, three, ...) ... if they still appear, use the combination Ctrl + H and in the box you replace what you need ... in addition the replacements are made in all the subtitles open at that time in notepad ++ (so you can open several subtitles at the same time and the changes are made all at the same time). .. and in the end if you do not read an Asian language correctly you can encode it in UT-8

... and, if the subtitle is dusty, you can use more special functions (MACRO = more commands in one click) ... although this is not for beginners this ... take a look:

Just wondering if anyone does have rio hamazaki or azumi mizushima eng sub.
Azumi Mizushima was so hot! Unfortunately these are her only films I have subtitles for. I wish I had subs for some of her other films....
Enjoy these anyway and if you have a copy of SW-137 please let me know, I'd like a copy but can't find it anywhere..

... I think you wanted more to challenge us with SW-137 ... I think there are a lot of people who have this movie. At least, I have it in the FHD version with 6000kb bitrate ... and I also did a decensoed test with it ... I have to check if I have decensored it completely, or I will do it ... anyway, if you need the censored version you can send me a PM ...
