Ok, I have enough information about 172.

Title: Apo Apo World: Giant Baba 90-bun 1-hon Shoubu (APO APOワールド ジャイアント馬場 90分1本勝負)
Release date: 1996-06-15
Length: 90 minutes
Studio: KSS Films (ケイエスエス販売)

An OVA based in the famous Japanese wrestler Giant Baba. I still don't get the pun in the title, only part of it ("1-hon" could be read in Japanese as "Ippon", which would change the meaning of the phrase). Anyway, it took me longer than expected because there appears to another anime with Giant Baba as the star of the show. I need to find a more solid clue, because all I have is that it was a TV anime in the 1970s-1980s, tentatively called "Yuke Yuke Baba San". Since I have found no Japanese source, I still have my doubts.

Regarding the division of threads, I'm not against it but I don't think it's that necessary. It will help users not interested in ero-anime get interested in finding missing old anime. If it was not 15+ restricted when originally released then it should not be considered ero-anime. This applies to all ecchi anime. Regarding splitting efforts, I don't think that's needed and I don't mind that the posts get mixed, actually. It's only a matter of moving any anime here that's not ero-anime to the other thread, nothing more. If someone posts a normal anime here, we simply move that post to the regular anime thread once we find the information regarding said anime. After all, how are we supposed to know if an anime is erotic or not if it's unknown? Once we get enough information to determine if it was or not an ero-anime the post could simply be moved to the other thread.

Regarding the matter of handling numbers, I don't think that's necessary. Simply keep the numbers as they are and move them to the other thread. A single numbering is more than enough until we finally have all information regarding the list. Only then we should consider having two different numerations. I don't think that it's going to be that great an effort, though. After all, AniDB has already over 7000 anime entries. At most, not counting new anime, we could find another 1000, no more, I think. Finding rips, though, it's another story.

Now #173.

Title: Sango no Umi to Ouji (サンゴの海と王子)
Standard number: VA-15
Studio: Shinano Planning (シナノ企画)
Length: 30 minutes
Original work: Daisaku Ikeda (池田 大作)
Release date: 2000-02

This seems to be a children's anime. Surprisingly, this is not focused on the regular anime public. Far from it. It's some kind of educational anime, or at least that's what I'm led to believe with the information available. A few links:

http://www.shinanokikaku.co.jp/?ac=user_product_detail&id=71&gi=1&si=4
http://gekidan-ichinokai.com/member/sakaguchi.html
http://crusherfactory.net/~pmoon/mt/001427.html

You won't believe it: all anime from Shinano Planning are currently missing from AniDB and almost any other DB out there, be it Japanese or not. They are not a whole lot, but it's still weird that no one ever bothered to look for these anime. I won't be posting them since this "cultural" anime are not my kind of thing, but I will help anyone looking for specific information about any of them.

Just to give you an idea of the kind of anime these Shinano's OVAs are, check this Nico Nico Douga link of Alexandros no Ketsudan (アレクサンドロスの決断):

http://www.nicovideo.jp/watch/sm4536460

They are quite well created, contrary to the ugly-animated Youbi Mazo Animation. Kind of weird, considering that these are not meant to be best-sellers as you'd think an adult-animation would be.

I would have liked to concentrate on the "real" adult anime part, but I know this is very difficult to sort things out, especially with a lack of information.

I believe that there will not be much adult anime to add anymore, except the numerous bootleg titles, so it's only the "anime" part that will keep growing.

The age classification is somewhat depending on the publisher, they choose or not to classify the borderline titles as "adult" or not. If an editor is specialized in adult titles, its 15+ titles are evaluated as 18+ titles (Pink Pineapple especially). Others try to avoid adult classification as much as possible (JHV, Tokuma, Columbia, Toei, C.Moon, etc). And a true 15+ label was only established in 1994...

As redrooster is the creator, I leave him the choice of presentation.

About databases, in the past there was a really cool search engine, with a lot of really unknown titles that ended up in my list. Unfortunatly it died out in 2007:

http://web.archive.org/web/20070824173849/http://www.animechecklist.net/search.html

archive.org doesn't keep the .php pages, so it's just history. I made extensive searches back then to have the most comprehensive data.

This was probably the most complete database ever done, much nicer than ANN that looks like a big patchwork to me. And anidb is concentrated on the anime already existing as video files.

I have no problems, neither with a list of both hentai and anime in one nor two split lists.

As I already wrote, I should have to know which are to be ANIME classified by nos. additional to those already got that tag in the list, so that I can split the list in only one move possibly.

Of course there will be some we miss on first hit, but that will be moving lines in the end only. But I don´t want to start before we have excepted as most animes as possible from the hentai list.

As I have all data as a word doc on my computer I can do the changes here and can start the new missing anime thread and copy/paste the h-anime data into the old h-anime thread with 2 moves only then. That makes it much easier for me.

To avoid a number salad I plan to add a "H" in front of all missing hentai and an "A" in front of all missing animes, so that we won´t have a mix-up again from the start and can add more nos. without thinking about it. All animes and H-animes already mentioned will keep their nos. as they are, just with a letter in front..

Yep, 2000 is the correct one unless the original producer is lying in their own data. And it makes sense actually. Who would still release a VHS in 2006?

and for elgringo14 you want the lolicon angel other version, good news i have ;) Yep the quality better but this version censored...Later i posting and i just upping for mu...

Thanks Mugesz! I'm also a fan of this type of old ero-anime. By the way, elgringo14, Lolicons Anonimos has released the second episode of Choisuji in Portuguese. I'm looking forward to elgringo14 kick-ass fansub of that anime.

I would have liked to concentrate on the "real" adult anime part, but I know this is very difficult to sort things out, especially with a lack of information.

That doesn't meant we don't get to prioritize ero-anime over regular anime. In fact, that's a very good reason to research all anime, so that we can concentrate the rip search on ero-anime. Although, as Gu-Gu Ganmo showed us with Punky Funky Baby, sometimes just having rare anime is helpful to get rare ero-anime.

Well, truth be told, what we define as ero-anime is mostly subjective to the viewer. In its time, Tezuka's Cleopatra was considered ero-anime and marketed as such, but nowadays it rarely has age-restrictions. Violence Jack is adult restricted, and it has a lot of erotic scenes, particuarly in Evil Town, but the violence outshines the sexual content. Even so, I wouldn't call it a "regular anime", but neither a "ero-anime". We will encounter this type of problems with several seinen oriented anime, which is why, for the moment, it should be enough a distinction between 15+ restricted at the time of the original release and any other anime. Then, once we have the rips, we can do it on a case-by-case basis. The reason why I propose 15+ is because several anime which are considered "hentai", like Doukyuusei, are actually 15+ in Japan.

About databases, in the past there was a really cool search engine, with a lot of really unknown titles that ended up in my list. Unfortunatly it died out in 2007:

Do you know what happened to Anime Checklist? It would be great if we could get back as much data from it as possible. Certainly there is a hole in anime-related DB that needs to be filled. I agree with you regarding ANN. I've never been a fan of that DB as I've always encountered misinformation in old anime entries and lacks. For the moment, the most complete one in terms of anime quantity is AniDB, which is still a work in progress and it's more oriented to existing anime, not technical info like staff and official releases. I've found that Animemorial is quite good for the 1950s, 1960s, 1970s, but lacks info about other decades. And there isn't even a decent Japanese anime DB. All info is scattered in boards instead of a single resource. We need another Anime Checklist. If you have information about pre-1950 anime, please post it here. I want to find those truly rare animations.

H163 Otokogi (男樹) 1-3
H164 Shin Otokogi (新・男樹) 1+2

Both series are regular anime, seinen but not erotic.

Alright, time to get back to my regular schedule:

H104 教磨師 1-5
H162 教魔師 1-5

Title: Kyoumashi (教魔師)
Studio: Street Teacher
Length: 45 minutes

I hate when complex Kanji are incorrect. Both entries are for the same pseudo-anime. Entry H104 should be erased as the Kanji 磨 (grind, polish) is not the correct one. The correct one is the one from entry H162 魔 (witch, demon). It's always hard to find a series when a Kanji is not the correct one. It's particularly hard when they are read the same way. And on top of that, this pseudo-anime is a waste of time. You can scratch this series from high priority. All of them are CG Comic Video (CGコミックビデオ), in other words:

MOTION COMIC

Utatane software dl-ed and installed, but problems to edit the server lists.

Can anyone provide me a list with the necessary data so that it becomes a bit easier for me please?

Are there any restrictions reg. bitrate? My slow upload speed [~80-90 kb/sec only] makes it impossible for me to use PD for ex, altough it is installed since a long time and enough data has been made available for upload as demanded by PD. But I don´t have the neccessary minimum upload speed...

to jfgslo:

you can try

http://www.world-art.ru/animation/year.php

and search year by year. They have added recently a lot of black & white cartoons from 30s and 40s. Before 1958 and the "Hakujaden/Legend of the White Snake" movie, there was no "anime" existing, only short cartoons at best.

to redrooster:

I used also this list:
http://serverlist.run.buttobi.net/
though I'm not sure many of them are useful at all. Some servers never answer at all. I get typically 12 servers to work simultaneously. Don't forget to check the "redirect server" box if necessary.

Potentially any new version of an episode is interesting to download. Of course some have more priority to download than others.
In other threads I tried to point out some cases where the current version is not satisfying (Five Ways re-releases, non-japanese dub, scenes edited by american companies, etc).
Normally I tell you directly on Utatane the most important ones.
