I have a new 4090 coming for my main system and will build a 2ndary around the 3090 to run in the garage for days to upgrade these files if notice the improvement on my oculus.

One of the advantages of 8K resolution is that you can increase the sharpening to the maximum in the player, and there are no halos or glitches in the image. Try it, improves the definition a lot.

How many people can afford and are willing to pay $3500 to watch porn? They may plan to *ship* 1 million of them but I really doubt they'll *sell* that many.
Anyone else a huge fan of JAV DVD covers/title cards? They're a really unique art form, and sometimes better than the scene itself.
All the recent Whisper AI speech-to-text stuff got me thinking - wouldn't it be cool if we could translate the text on these covers (at least the significant 'sexy' key words)? It would make them 10x hotter, and be a cool way to learn Hiragana/Katakana/Kanji.
I experimented with an app called VNTranslator...
...but the bright colors and wacky fonts really gave it a hard time (seems like it was trained exclusively on clean high contrast black/white text).
Wondering if there are any other OCR (optical character recognition) tools that would be able to translate these covers? Google vision API maybe (I think it supports Japanese)?

It is absurd. I don't download the 4K versions. Luckily the 8K versions are available on other websites. It seems Akiba is starting to post the 8K versions with the last titles, too..

I don't know, I don't use one, and my phone is a cheap one. A mid-range one, I suppose. The best option is to buy Quest 2 or Pico 4 glasses.
AI translation is already bad for normal sentences, let alone movie titles. See how bad they're translated on websites like JAVLibrary. It's the same for news titles, it's shortened to the max. Only a human knowing the grammar can figure out the "missing" parts.
There are other companies on the market with that kind of displays in their devices. Apple just merged a bit of everything in one device. And for the moment, they didn't show any real content, only trailers.

So the Quest 3, releasing this Fall 2024, will support full color passthrough. That is a game changer for only $500. It's a shame JAV VR hasn't gotten into the passthrough genre yet. It is a bit weird currently because your background is b&w, but once the Quest 3 drops, woah!
Personally, I am not interested in passthrough. I'm not interested in seeing actresses in my boring living room or bedroom, it's not believable to me.
On the other hand it has a lot of limitations when shooting movies and adding variety, because you have to position yourself in the same perspective as the camera so that your room matches the angle at which the scene was shot. And as soon as you move or the camera changes in the film, everything gets out of place.
This forces passthrough movies to keep the camera fixed all the time. They are very boring and dull movies.

I find it to be more realistic cause I can see the girl in my ACTUAL room, living room, kitchen, wherever.
From the passthroughs I've watched, it's really not hard or bad to position yourself or the model. You can get them right on top of you and still move your head around. And 99% of all VR porn has the camera stationary so I don't see how a fixed camera in passthrough is a deal breaker.
But to each their own.

But as you say tastes are tastes, everyone has their own. And porn VR needs to be as varied as possible. so passthrough are welcome. even if I won't watch them.

Plenty of people can, and these things will do a lot more than display porn. I think they'll sell quite a lot of them.
The significant sexy key words are all really easy to learn. Personally, I think they're a lot hotter than their English equivalents
