Another break from subbing and a quick discussion. As usual, what I say is never an offense
Here goes... as good as JAV is, lot of it directors and crews need a refresher course on filmmaking 101.

I don't mean the story or the acting, but I'm talking about some aspects of production.
I mean audio aspect. I think it's fair to criticize this area. My reason is... if you're going to write dialog for you actresses or actors to recite, then the audience should be able to hear it 80% of the time. With today tech and equipment,, that number should be 100% of the time imo

IF you're paying extras(not all work free or with a company) some are actually paid extras. Anyways.... if their being paid at least add a small mic because they do interact with the main cast on many occasion.

Here's the difference with western porn vs jav background noise. Have you listen? Western- it's mostly out of context or just silly. No real dialog.
JAV- mostly within context and of substance. Real dialog.

***NOT everything has to be understood. I've seen plenty of JAV that had background noise of nonsense chattering. But those scenes didn't interrupt.

I'm talking about actual dialog in the scenes. For example, I'm doing a subbed of an office scene. The female coworker(actor/extra) has dialog with the main actress throughout the movie. Why can I only hear her(actor/extra) 50% of the time? And she's sitting close to the main actress?

Also, I know some actresses talk quietly. It's annoying because the same actress is loud AF in her sex scenes with "kimochi, sugoi" and moaning
In that case, the director should tell them to speak clearly(louder) or get the boom mic.

I know it's porn, BUT JAV is more about story, combine with sex. If this was regular western porn with no story I wouldn't care.
Speaking of which, western porn sound quality is quite good. Too bad their stories suck European porn is quite good too. I might need to start subbing some Italian porn in the future hahaha

Time to wrap up my rant. I will say there are ways to capture good sound quality and have been for ages.
Mostly used in videos and films, even to this day is.. the boom mic.
***It a long stick with a mic on the end. It capture the audio and not disturb the scene and the acting.

Perhaps, a crew member is too busy jerking off and don't want to hold it lol or the director is too focus on the "mood and style" of the movie?

Some directors give you a perfect balance of audio, video, and story. Rare these days, even for JAV. Because most stuff is recycle storylines.

I'm convince no one in JAV uses the boom mic anymore. And I think its a crucial piece of filmmaking, no matter how big or small the budget.

Again, it might not seem important, but if you're going to have dialog in your movie, then pull out the boom mic so we can hear it clearly.

Having the cameras shove in the actresses faces shouldn't be your only source for capturing audio in your movies.

So... since I started subbing I had this crazy idea of keeping "certain words" written down on my computers. Words like "kimochii or sugoi".
Then as I started subbing more, like any language you hear variation of those words used differently. So as to make things easier... i added those words too.

Then as I made friends with various people here, on Reddit, forums, groups, chats, and some true Japanese citizens...
I ask about stuff and they ALL gave me their take on certain words and phrases.... and of course, I added them too

As a anime lover and some hentai(very good for picking up hard-to-understand words or phrases BTW), of course... I added those words too

I'm not saying ALL the words/phrases are accurate, but it gives me an idea sometimes if subbing becomes annoying lol

Below is a quick snapshot of my list. I have tidy it up recently to keep things a little organize, I have over 1020 lines and more to be added or deleted hahaha
It's one of the reasons why I'm slow with subbing... and why I admire Imscully ability so much.

Which would you choose? I would choose Japanese. But others might not. I think it's cool to have options

I will say RCTD-459 is a challenging sub... for me personally. The Chinese translator did a good job... for his taste BUT he changed a lot of the dialog.
The reasons: It's dialog heavy, the actors talks over one another, AND you have the main guy(son) making weird noises as if he has asthma or some shit.
It's annoying AF!!! And I think he's wearing a wig hahaha

I found the annoying guy from RCTD-459 in another movie by accident. Looks like it's his hair, but in the movie it seemed... unnatural.
And he's wearing the same outfit in NDRA-088(Release 5-7-2021) and in RCTD-459(release 3-24-2022) lol dude clearly likes this outfit lol

Anyways i came to talk about this... Kariru ne desho=借りるんでしょ. It about how some words are translated from Japanese and look like it doesn't fit the context of the scene.
Kariru ne desho=借りるんでしょ=you rent it, right/I'll borrow it(courtesy of Google Translator) Almost the same with Deeplv4.
Anyways in the context of the movie, the younger sister said she can do a diet(parpahasing) and her older sister said, 借りるんでしょ.
I figure out the older sister was saying, you'll try it, right? Which the younger sister said yes.

There you go. I guess looking at the words 'rent and borrow', one could see how 'trying' fits in.
Anyways, since I'm not an expert of Japanese, I think this is a reasonable answer to what the sister was saying.

I also find movies like RCTD-459 to be challenging. For starters, the scenario is so unbelievable and far fetched that it's difficult to create any dialog that includes any tension, real-risk, investment, romance, etc. Same goes for the Rocket (RCT) gameshows. I love them, but finding ways to make the sex kinkier is definitely not easy. (Speaking of RCT (and RCTD), tonight I've been working on some small edits to a RCTD-029 sub I recently found.) I'll post later if I think I can do it justice.

ROCKET videos have zero "tension" even though the movies tries to create it. But the endings is usually light hearted that no one takes seriously, especially the gameshows ones.
For example, the lady in the red coat tells mom/son not to get caught and it's so heavily scripted you can't help but wish the "dad" act normal and look up to make it a little more realistic. Or the "daughters" not really wanting their "fathers" betray their mom by fuckin them and being a little piss off about it lol

ROCKET videos are safe videos for when you want to get away from all the NTR, cucks, or r*** base videos. It's like a fun break for me.

RCTD-029 I do recognize 2 of those actresses and they are quite good. Good luck to you working your magic on that video haha

I'm still puzzled to this day, why so few Japanese haven't capitalize on subbing for JAV? They seem to really like subbing for anime and even hentai but take passes on JAV. Could it be they find it embarrassing and shameful? Given they are the main audience and it's popular amongst them I'm surprise someone hasn't made more real Japanese subs. I've only seen a few and many "fakes" that's clearly not Japanese.

Unfortunately that is sextb.net and many sites like it. They are... what they are. They want revenue. They don't care about accuracy of the subs.
I wanted to see what the chinese subs say about that scene and my translation.

Chinese sub:

I noticed in many Chinese subs they take literally what's happening in the scenes to determine the subs IF they can't translate what the actress/actor is saying.
That can be a good/bad thing, I suppose. I've done it as well hahaha
