This is obvious, isn't it? We can talk about about throat queens, but at the end of the day this is a genre based on squeezing poor girls that aren't able to star softer films.

However, there's a few exceptions. Mochizuki Ayaka can do soft and hard yet chose to do both.
Her career filmography contains both. If Mochizuki Ayaka exclusively chose to do films less demanding on her throat, a decent amount of people would still watch, yet she did both.
I'm guessing it's a typical contract deal, in which for every 5 or arbitrary number of "soft" films, you need to do a hard film. The more conventional beauty you have, then the more of a bargaining chip you have.
Off the top of my head is Nozomi Aso AVOP-130, as well as many other titles.
I'm not saying Nozomi Aso is doing KIRM/ANAV level stuff. Sure, a good amount of it is faux irrumatio, but the fact that it was released in 2015, and the sheer level of symmetry in her face, not to mention her body is kinda nuts.
She could have totally just gone pure soft.

I do believe Ai Kiyama-level ANAV titles is purely voluntarily. I doubt studios require their stars to do a film of that magnitude, after a certain number of "soft" films, but hey what the fuck do I know? I'm just guessing here. For all I know, Ai Kiyama was required to do two ANAV titles of that magnitude.
Although the subtitles I posted earlier definitely implies that it was purely voluntary.
FUN FACT: Nozomi Aso is apparently a pseudo celebrity in the Philippines, despite being retired from porn. She even developed a filipino accent. I'm happy for her.
