The thing is that in their 2022 to-do list they say "we are with the final preparations", so it looks like this time it's for real.

When connected to a PC, the Quest 2 does not output direct image, it uses compressed streaming video, and the image quality suffers.

On the other hand Facebook is the devil, I will never buy anything from them. I'm waiting for someone else to release some modern glasses, hopefully Valve soon.

Yes there is but as i said, using Airlink with Wifi6 the compression is not really noticable imho.
I dont like meta/facebook either but right now the Quest2 is the rational choice for the pricetag. I am positive that we will see more competition this year/next year (PSVR, Apple, Samsung(?))

I really like the ideas/creativity of NHVR but their cameras are sometimes just terrible. Movies from that studio are either a hit or miss.

SexLikeReal (SLR) has announced their plans for 2022. They are starting to shoot with true 8K cameras, and they are going to use depth maps:


I understand this means that we can move inside the video!!! This could be awesome!!!

If I am talking about SLR here it is because they are going to shot JAV, SLR style, right now!!!. This means JAV at true 8K!!! It will be censored, because is the only way they can film with all the JAV stars, but at least we can have real JAV at 8K very soon:



SLR is filming good VRs, it is almost the only western VRs I watch, because they "copy" some JAV VR shots. SLR JAV Originals could be epic, and can force JAV VR companies to upgrade to 8K, too...

For it has never really been a real issue, as you have that effect in reality as well to some degree imho.

For 6dof i would be really conservative. I have seen some attempts and they are still very experimental. To some degree 6dof is possible today already with Heresphere.

I've also seen and been waiting for the SLR JAV last year as they announced it before, i am just glad they havent discarded that plan entirely. I am not just excited for the SLR JAV 8k (i hope the get an experienced director), but rather excited for the possible impact on other studios pushing them towards 8k.

Talking about Heresphere, I am happy that they finaly released the Quest 2 version ( https://sidequestvr.com/app/7523/heresphere-vr-video-player ). $30 might be steep but for me its definitely worth it as it finaly solves the problem of organizing my library.

HereSphere works really well with the WebUI from XBVR so i can finally browse my content by thumbnails and use search, filters, categories etc. For me thats even a bigger deal than the alignment fixing, as my IPD is pretty average and JAV is mostly well aligned.

I will be even more excited when he will add subtitle support, so i can finally create subtitles and get an idea whats being talked about in the movies.

3DSVR-1120 is great for the kisses and the cute girls, but it has little saliva if you like it, the lesbian sex is soft and you don't see the pussy because you are the girl... It is the reason I like much more old titles like 3DSVR-0291 or 3DSVR-0315 where you are a man watching or licking nipples with the other girl, not a woman. And the lesbian sex is much better.

But there are only a few lesbian VRs now, so I buy all the titles even if the old titles are much better.

Mikaki Abe is great and she has good VRs. 3DSVR-1114 looks very good.

Yes, it is doing a lot to make VR more popular, and above all to make VR porn more comfortable and affordable. I hope the japaneses will gradually abandon smartphone VR, which is crap, and adopt Quest 2, and force companies to use more resolution.

You are right, they want to fix cross-eye effect, like HereSphere. For me it has never been a problem, when it appears it is enough to close an eye.....
But it's good that they fix it, so we will have kisses and closer cameras, which are a taboo in western VRs.

I think SLR can shoot good JAV VRs , but like you I hope that serves to make the Japanese companies envious (and embarrassed) of how their VRs look, and force them to make the jump to 8K.

Good news. HereSphrere is the player I use on PC VR. It is not cheap but it is well worth it. And it's the best to organize your library, as you say.

How do you create English or other language subtitles from a Japanese video? That would be my dream...

Basically most people use a tool called autosub. Its using the Google SpeechToText Engine to create a written transcript of the video. Some versions of that tool also have automatic translation (via Google translate) implemented.

For my first tests i used a GUI-version of the tool called pyTranscribe. You basically just select the video and you will get a (japanese) SRT-subtitle file. I then use a selenium script somebody created to translate this subtitle to english using DeepL (you can find it in the thread above). Translations from DeepL are better than Google translate imho.

But dont expect too much from the translations, there is still a lot of wrong translations, but overall its better than nothing and in conjunction with the (translated) summary from DMM i think it gives a better feeling of the plot and whats going on. And thats enough for me.

In that thread there are some people who put a lot of manual labour into creating really good subtitles but given my library and the time consumption it would take me forever.

Unfortunately the biggest hurdle is to display subtitles correctly. I wasnt able to display them correctly in 3D-180-SBS videos with PigasusVR, afaik DeoVR does not support subtitles so far, so right now i am waiting for support in HereSphere. I dont know about Whirlgig though.

It really is sad to see these favourite actresses retire, especially with better VR movies being made and to know we will never get to "be" with them is just double hurtful. My favourite this year that disappeared all of a sudden was Amu Amatsuka, every one of her titles were amazing and she's just so natural and pretty...sad sad.

Well, SLR has announced that they have already started shooting in 8K, so it's possible that when they shoot in Japan, it will already be at 8K.

EDIT: I have read the reddit post now, you are right, they confirm 6K shots.

But even if it is 6K, their 6K movies look spectacular, light years ahead of JAV VR 4K, so it would still be a big leap in quality.

The only 3 actresses I can name off hand are ones that have unique looks... I'm pretty new to paying attention to who's in the films.

Karina Nishida, Rin Oga, Sora Shiina.

Sora checks quite a few boxes for me. Short hair, slightly unique nose, just... cute.

I love a distinctive nose, Karina has that, but I've mainly seen flat JAVs with her in it... and they're hit or miss with me. Plus her butthole has taken far too much abuse and it shows. (I prefer a cute un-walnut-ed butthole)

Unfortunately the director of all these scenes Yazawa Recieve (https://twitter.com/yazawa_recieve) recently announced that he left SOD after 9 years. From what I understand (i dont speak japanese so can only use machine translation to read his tweets), he will continue to produce VR videos.
You are right other studios are adapting this technique too, but they were rather disappointing i.e. KAVR-203. I hope other studios will improve it further, and Yazawa will quickly return to producing VR for another studio.

Great to hear that Yazawa Recieve got back to work. KM Produce just announced that a new release from Yazawa Recieve will be completed soon. I am happy to see that he see his unique filming angle being used again. I hope there will be some improvement in image quality too as though his SOD releases were amazing, sometimes the image quality was a little blurry. KM Produce are pretty good in that regard.
