So what's the current state of Japanese to English translation these days? Specifically, I'm looking for an AI model that can be run locally, and is exceptionally good at doing word for word translations (with time stamps).

I'm using Subtitle Edit, which integrates Whisper running locally and adds time stamps. It's not perfect, but it works well, is very easy to use, free, and fully automatic. It even translates into English, if you want.

I don't know if it translates word for word or by context, since I don't know Japanese. But it even transcribes the moans.

It works better with VR than in 2D, because in VR there is only one person talking. In 2D there are usually more. The dialogues between moans, well, logically it depends on what it can understand. Sometimes they scream so much that even native Japanese speakers can't understand them. The only thing it has trouble with is whispered dialogue, which is difficult for it.

You can't get something perfectly accurate from AI due to how it works, it's always guessing what's the most likely answer due to how it works under the hood.

These days, you get a decent result from it(don't know about timing though, it's always bad too me since my standards are too high for that), but if you want something closer to perfect, you'll have to spend some time comparing the AI output with what you can hear and manually ask an AI about what x means in the context you see and explain to it.
It all depends how much work you want to put in to get the result you want, the raw output is usually good enough to understand most of what's happening.

Those directors make their decisions also based off past content. What they have shot before. Of course they're going to mix things up to get better sales. To you, alternating between full nudity and outfits seems logical. To them, the fully nude shot is like "Hey, didn't we do something like this recently? We need to change things up here". Hence why it doesn't happen.

On my part, I'm just hoping Prestige move on and use someone else aside from Yamagishi Aika. Nothing wrong with her, but again... variety. Can't be she's the only working for them. Or is she the only one willing to shoot VR?

It's funny that you think someone who likes normal, realistic sex with nudity is a fetishist... In any case, I'm a purist of VR porn, an orthodox. I guess Western and Asian cultures are different in this respect. Because if you take a look at Western VR releases, 90% of them feature nudity. At most, the girls wear garters. Sex with clothes on is an Asian cultural identity, I think...

For me, a censored movie with the girl wearing clothes, it's like watching an erotic movie on Netflix. Of course, I have to accept that JAV VR is a Japanese product for the Japanese public, so take it or leave it. But I can't change the things that turn me on, and censored sex with clothes on doesn't turn me on. Another thing would be a real situation, as you say, where many more senses are involved, and it's not censored. That would be different...

Of course, I don't demand that all VRs have to be the way I like them, not even a majority. A couple of titles a week, out of the more than 100 that come out every month, is enough for me. But so far in 2026, of the more than 50 titles that have come out, of the 70 or 80 that have been announced, if you apply the filter “sex with nudity without weird stuff, immersive face-to-face scenes,” I don't think more than 2 or 3 come up. And all of them have some flaw or actress that I don't like.
At this point, only Moodyz, S1, Idea Pocket, and Madonna make movies that I like, and they too are succumbing to the wave of fetishism. When that happens, JAV VR will be over for me.

As for Prestige, I would like a movie with Remu Suzumori with a close missionary shot, which she has never filmed in her entire career. And of course, the debut of all their exclusives actresses. But beware, they may not release any more, because last year in the “first season” they released two titles, and in this second season they already have two...

Err, its kinda cos you only seem to want complete nudity without even a stitch of clothing. It must all come off. And with only 1 girl at a time unless the other girls start kissing each other. Oh, its not an Asian cultural identity. More of a Japanese one. I read an interview once of a Japanese porn star who went to the West to shoot porn and she says its quite different there. For starters, they operate on a lower budget. And she has to do her own makeup, do her own hair, and often even provide her own wardrobe.

Japanese studios provide a make-up artist, hair stylist, and yes - a wardrobe. So of course outfits and costumes are more common in JAV. If a mess is made on the clothes, someone will clean it. There is a laundry service. Western shoots, nobody wants to deal with the mess. That's why nudity is more common in Western porn.

Something I never quite understood is why even a bit of clothing bothers you. Even lingerie and outfits that don't cover anything important still needs to be completely removed for you while most of the JAV audience won't be bothered and actually want it to stay on.

Its like the seifuku skirt. That usually stays on for most seifuku videos. Its short, it covers nothing, and most folks actually enjoy watching it flap around as well. But it seems to turn you off.

Fully clothed sex kind of annoys me too, yet even I am willing to accept that provided its not the focus of the entire title. Maybe one clip. But if I don't get to see even a bit of nipple for the entire title, than yeah...not interested.

Its why I complained about the Ishikawa Mio maid VR. Seriously, there's barely a hint of breast in that one.

Here's my superficial JAV tier list. As in its my ranking of fav currently active JAV girls (else Shirato Hana, Arata Arina, etc would be in the list). Its superficial in that its based entirely on just how attractive I find them - regardless of their performance. These are girls who can set my pants on fire just from the sheer sight of seeing them in a state of undress.

A tier - Better find a fire extinguisher.
S tier - Call the fire brigade.
SS tier - Call the national guard even. Its going to be a disaster zone.
SSS tier - You better go find Ultraman cos even Godzilla won't cause as much destruction.

Within each tier, left to right would also be my ranking of them. As in left would be higher.

Of course, how attractive we each find a girl is entire subjective and we all have our own tastes. Myself, I do prefer smaller breasts over big. I favor slender builds but not too skinny. Being paipan will rocket a girl right up. Beauty is also important to me. If I find their facial features attractive enough, it can make me overlook certain faults like being too skinny, plastic surgery, etc. although they're not likely to rank particularly high anymore.

My opinions will likely shift over time depending on what each girl has been up to. They're more likely to be higher ranked from being active in VR or having at least did some VR. However, a few girls on this list haven't even done any VR at all. Well, not yet...hopefully...

No B tier or lower on this chart or I won't have room. Anyone below A tier isn't necessarily unattractive to me but it will take more than me seeing them naked to get my motor going. Some might not be in the list simply cos I'm just not actively tracking them either cos I'm not aware of them or they are not doing VR.

My tastes and rules have always been the same in all the years I've been watching VR. What has changed are the studios. Two or three years ago, it was unthinkable to have a VR where you couldn't see the actress's bum or back. Look at any title prior to 2024. In all of them, unless it's a single-theme VR, you see the girls' bums. Now I have to fight with that.
Before, all films had F2F cowgirl, but now several titles that I liked are missing it. Before, I could always find a VR by Alice Japan, Unfinished, or VRKM that suited my tastes. Now it's increasingly rare. Before, it was unthinkable to have a Japanese actress with plastic breasts, but now it's a plague.

You might say that everything evolves, but we're talking about a traditionalist society that takes longer than anyone else to change. They still buy DVDs!
There are studios that have a very defined line. Look at the one with the excrements , whether it sells or not, they always make the same VRs. Two titles a month... and in 2026 it has doubled to four! Koala has been doing only soapland for 5 years, Alice Japan did only nude sex for years, and look what it's become now. I wish there was a studio focused on realistic sex, two or three titles a month... I'd be happy with that.

Well, like you, I like panties that show through short skirts , or sexy lingerie. And I don't mind if there are clothes on during petting, or even at the beginning of sex, if they take them off later. I have some VRs with minimal clothing, for example one by Murakami Yuka (S1) wearing a maid's outfit where she only has bracelets and a necklace on, and it doesn't get in the way too much. The problem is that the clothing in JAV VR is designed to be the star of the show, and it almost always gets in the way.

In the end, we have no control over the things that turn us on. You say you like clothes, but the breasts or bum have to be visible. Do you like sex with 90% of clothes on but not with 100%? There's no logic in these things, each person understands eroticism in different ways.

And basically the 2025 releases are mixed up with those from previous years, so it's hard to find them... I've tried to find a website where all the 2025 VRs are sorted so that I can filter out the millions of releases from SAVR, AQUA, and others, so I don't spend forever looking, but I can't find one. If you know of one...

And 2Dxxxisdead is missing, and the rest aren't willing to participate...

Haha, this is why its great to have XBVR. Easy to sort out all titles that were released in 2025. Like these are all the stuff I have from Oct 2025.



I'm still rebuilding my database (more like re-catalogue all my files by importing them again) but I got the 2025 files done first before moving on to previous years which is why able to throw up the list rather quickly. At this point, I probably have just as much files as you if not more even (since I have wider tastes). I'm already more than halfway done within about 2 weeks with just spending about maybe 30 mins every day on this. Still have real life stuff to attend to after all. If I can start from scratch and rebuild my XBVR library, I'm thinking you should be able to do it too.

The only thing I find annoying is that javlibrary is a lot more accurate as an importing source except it no longer really works. So we have to rely on javdatabase and they're quite inconsistent. Its not as complete so I have to manually create quite a few entries myself. Submitters don't use consistent naming formats for SOD and KMP files so anything with 3DSVR or VRKM files can be problematic to import. Like the 3DSVR can sometimes be 3DSVR-999 OR DSVR-999. Somtimes, you need to add an extra 0 at the front like 3DSVR-01049. Sometimes you must add in some random dashes like 3DSVR-01-049. Why? I don't know but there's the same issue with VRKM codes. The rest seem to be fine - if there is an entry for that file. But if there is, this saves you a ton of time in importing the details for you.

But than I have to reenter the cast names to my preferred format. javdatabase uses given names first. javlibrary used surname first, too bad its not working.

Yet despite all these issues I'm like >50% done for my collection already. Its not really that bad and its totally worth it cos you can use in in Heresphere which I believe is also the VR player that you are using.

Nagase Yui isn't in here, currently active girls only in JAV only. That is Ogura Yuna. She was really hot in her early SOD days. I still watch the 3P with Tadai Mahiro to this very day plus a view of her other titles. But she doesn't seem to look as hot lately. I didn't like that cop themed VR she did not too long ago, and she looked a little different in that one as well.

In my case, I don't see it as feasible. I have seven hard drives of 4, 8, and 16 TB. I don't have a NAS; getting one would be too expensive and too conspicuous. I can't install a NAS with 8 hard drives plus backup drives without being asked what's on them.
I only have one “active” hard drive, with the latest releases, the titles I'm improving with AI, the ones I'm translating... The rest are stored away. I take them out from time to time when I want to see something old.
On the other hand, I have my favorites duplicated as backups on different drives, I have several versions of the same title, with and without AI enhancement... Using XBVR would take too much work and too much money, and I don't have much free time.

You don't always need to have everything plugged in at once. The point here is that it acts as your catalogue.

If you map each of your drives to very specific letters, say this drive will only ever by mounted as M: and another will only every be N:, than XBVR will only locate the files you currently have plugged in. So you can just do one drive at a time.

Like right now, I have some of my external drives disconnected.


So XBVR knows I have stuff that are offline and will only show videos I have available right now.


Which is why I think you might still find it useful. You can catalogue one drive at a time. You don't need it all plugged in at once.
