I don't like the VKRM of the last 1 or 2 years. Before that, they filmed much more VR with naked girls and face to face missionary. For example the title with Kinoshita Himari you mention. I bought it when it came out, and it's really good, I love Himari. I used to buy 15 or 20 titles a year from KMP, this year I only bought one.

I see that you have bought a lot of titles, it's normal when you start and you don't have any, they are almost for free. The same thing happened to me when I discovered the store.

When it comes to downloading, I use J Downloader 2, it goes a little faster than in the browser, and you can almost always continue if the download gets cut off. Download the files 1 by 1, if you download several at once, they all stop. Patience, it's worth it!

That stupid Afesta site design made me buy duplicates. At least they were cheap.

Some titles I bought, I later found them bundled into packs that were the same price as the single vid. :aghh:

This happened to me for a few Kanon Kanade, Shuri Atomi, and that title I mentioned. Stupid obtuse site navigation...

Search first for the packs. There is a tag called Long Length to filter them.

The store is not perfect but at least you can buy thousands of VRs very cheap without DRM. No one else offers that.

I'm new to VR JAV and I struggle a bit navigating through afesta so I'm asking for help. I'd love to purchase some stuff but, you know, storage space is limited and I'm a picky JAV enjoyer. Is there a way to get the cover ID the videos from afesta so that I can check here for thumbnails? I'd like to know the video better before I buy. What about searching on afesta by cover ID? And lastly, is there a way to watch trailers or samples without goggles?

Hello, and welcome to VR!! :)

At A Festa you can see the ID of the film by saving the cover photo. In the name of the photo is the ID. And yes, you can search by ID using their search engine.

In the catalog of each film there are photos, and most also have videos. You can download these trailers and watch them without glasses They have double image but can be viewed on any screen. They serve perfectly to give you an idea of what the movie is about.

Spent the past few days trying to get a proper scraper and DLNA service running. Tried both Stash and XBVR. Stash was tricky. Setting up via Docker was a pain a I had trouble making my network drives visible to the container. So I ran Stash outside of Docker and it can read my files but I found its scraping to also be very tedious and far more manual than I expected. On the surface, it looks to be more powerful than XBVR but I can't even get it to bundle scenes together into a movie. I must be doing something wrong.

On the other hand, XBVR was quite easy to use. Also had quite a bit of manual work. I had to key in each video code manually to scrape it from JAVLibrary and than match each up each scene.

Result was worth it though. What's not visible is I can filter by genre or performer on the right side.

I'm from the old school, I have PC VR so I keep the movies on a 16 TB hard drive connected to the PC, and play them directly. I also sort them manually in thematic folders. So I don't use scrapers or DLNA. But you've done a great job, your collection looks great.... :)

You should give it a try, its worth the effort.

I was also old school but I found it limiting after a while. I mean how to sort by folder? Doing it by code makes them easy to find and looks organized but is actually kind of meaningless. I tried organizing by performer names but what to do with vids that have more than 1 girl? The obvious thing initially is to slot it into the folder of the one I like best, but what if say...Matsumoto Ichika and Nagase Yui are both in it together (and they collaborate so often)... whose folder do they go into? I like both equally. I'm not even sure how you do it by themes.

Sorting like this with a scraper enables me to use tags, and each video can have multiple tags. So I can easily find all vids with any particular girl in it, or find all my vids that are 3P, Icharab, Schoolgirl (I plan to further categorize them by either Sensei or Senpai perspective lol), etc. That's actually useful.

I just let some other scrapper made by another forumer here called JavLuv to auto-sort the files into folders cos I'm lazy to do even that haha. Than I let XBVR scan through the result and build my collection for me.

I tried XBVR a bit, but went back to my old ways quickly. It's neat to have categories, but scraped tags are a mess. Multiple tags for the same thing, bad translations, inaccurate and missing categories everywhere. I would need to put in a ton of work to fix these. Maybe one day

For now i just have folders for each year, separated into watched/unwached. And files are named by date/id/cast. That's mostly all info i need, easily searched.

I like armpits, too... VR needs more fetish and more variety, 90% of titles are clones of each other.

Yes, it is certainly much more practical and modern this way. The problem is that I have thousands of titles and organizing everything would be a huge work, I don't have time for that... It would have to be done from the beginning as you are doing, to start when you have been collecting VR for years is very complicated.
 
@Walle12 Btw, I believe you mentioned there were some good lesbian VR titles in the past. Any of them on sale @ Afesta before it ends?
 
My favorites are 3DSVR-0556, 3DSVR-0315 and 3DSVR-0286. For some reason 3DSVR-0351 and 3DSVR-0291 have been deleted from the store... :(
 
Are the "8k" videos truly 8k? I don't quite understand why the 8k videos are of a smaller size than the 4k ones you find everywhere.

Ye, they are real 8K but with less bitrate, so they take up less space. Stupidly Fanza or the uploaders think that since the videos have a high resolution, less bitrate is enough. And of course, that's not true. An 8K video with a bitrate of 11 Mbps is ridiculous, and they are more blurry at medium distance. Still they look better than 4K, but they should look much better.

There is one exception, A Festa sells the 8K movie 3DSVR-1378 with a bitrate of 105 Mbps. It weights 93 GB and looks incredible... I hope they do the same with future titles.

Most 8k posted here also use h265(which I'm working on making uploaders always properly make that apparent somewhere) instead of the less efficient h264 used for the 4k versions which helps keeping the size lower, but h265 isn't that much more efficient(shouldn't be smaller than the 4k with h264 if they kept the same quality), they push the compression way too much to save on bandwidth.

Yes, H.265 is more efficient, but a bitrate of 11 Mbps is still too low. You lose quite a bit of detail and definition compared to European or American 8K movies, which have much higher bitrates.

I do not understand the "save on bandwidth" concept, 3 or 4 years ago a 4K VR movie weighed 25 GB, now the 8K version of VRKM-1172, released today, weights 5.5 GB... Too much space is being "saved", it is unacceptable that 8K videos have 11 Mbps bitrate. Western movies use 50, 90, 100 Mbps, and look much better.

Yeah, pretty much every resolution is using too little bitrate for the JAV that gets shared from those streaming sites, except many SD for some reason.

Even blurays often don't have enough bitrate to look nice.
