Things don't evolve very fast on usenet so the tutorial is still up to date and so are the groups.

As for the links, it all depends on your provider, but most have a few years of retention and I haven't seen a DMCA complaint for JAV yet on there.

They are dead from your provider apparently.

If you use a free one, the retention time isn't usually very big so the files may be deleted from their servers, but they likely won't be from others.

Any free server will have limited retention so if you want something old, that's not a viable choice. XSusenet is by far the best free server I know, unless maybe your ISP has one included with their service, sometimes they're pretty good too.

You'll have to rely on free trials if you don't want to pay, I've used tweaknews a few times to complement my paid server and I seem to remember it was fairly easy to have a new trial period with it, but you're limited to 10 days/10GB per trial.
