JULIA: fans or foes

I have to agree with a lot of what's been said about Julia. I haven't watched anything she's done in like over a year. From what I remember, I'd rate her body a 9/10 and her face a 7/10. When I first heard of her she seemed so popular. Everybody seemed to love her, so I was looking forward to watching her perform. Needless to say I was shocked afterwards. It was so bland and uninteresting I couldn't even get a hard-on. But I figured every JAV star has a dud every now and then so later I tried find more movies that had specific themes that liked to watch. I found to flicks with themes I always love watching. One was the 'teacher seducing her students' and the other was 'the older sister seducing the younger sisters BF'. And to my surprise both flicks were average at best. That was when I knew it was her. There seemed like a real lack of excitement in her performance. Everything she did seemed phony. No passion. And she's just not good enough of an actress to fake it. I know I've watch a least a 2 more flicks with her and yet they were so meh I can't even remember which flicks they were. And yes, she's a hottie, but I don't understand why she ever got popular. Good looks can only carry you so far.

Luckily I'm not a JAV fan and love her IV. I've only seen one of her IVs that I didn't like, a GASO vid, and I don't like that whole series.

I AM saying she's pretty competitive if you ignore the "performance" factor. 15 years ago I mostly consumed Europorn, mostly Private, some Marc Dorcel. They do get kinda repetitive. But compared to Julia/Rion/Yua/Shoko, Europorn are un-vanilla enough. The main thing is that Private got a lot of East European hotties, at least for a few years. Also I outgrew US-idea of "heat" in sex scenes a long long time ago.

The most recent US porn star that gave me a deep impression was Sasha Grey, that's how long ago... And yes she's a great performer and has a distinct personality/persona but purely as a hottie she's only good, not great.

So if you could recommend a real hottie, great looker, any race, from the US/EU scene, I would love to check them out.

Interesting that in all the posts around JAV stars making it in the US, no one has mentioned the infamous JAV sex sounds. That, combined with censorship, is a huge reason many in non-Asian markets hate JAV. Crying is a genre upon itself in the US market, but not like this...

Well... we are not here to discuss JAV and/or certain idols crossing the ocean. The topic is JULIA, and we could discuss any branch topic out of JULIA herself, but the bigger question of JAV vs US-Porn is OT.

In particular... there's no debate or disagreement if JULIA can make it in US. She CANNOT. I never argued for it and no one else did either.

I myself have not found any sex-voice to be halfway decent. Not JAV, not USPorn, not EuroPorn. All of them are different degree of unbearable. But 7 out of 10 times when I watch JAV/porn, I have to either mute the audio completely or keep it low enough that the sound doesn't reach the other rooms. I guess that's true for 75% of porn consumers too. So I doubt it's the deal-killer in the real world market.

I am sorry I still haven't had free time to investigate the recommendations. Just let me put 10 seconds to it...

We have mentioned about it a lot in other threads, mostly in what I dislike from JAV and why I think JAV can't go internasional

The reason why I did not mentioned about JAV moan in here, because they can change, example Marica Hase

I think the biggest obstacle for JAV Idols to work in US industry are :

1. payment

2. their looks

Its obvious that most non Asian audiences prefer Asian with darker skin color, not oriental but south east Asian or indo chinese

A minor tidbit from my usual gossip source. The writer is a Taiwanese media person mainly involved in promoting JAV and booking idols to Taiwan (and elsewhere) for commercial events.

Julia's agent ask the writer if he has any job opportunity for Julia. He replied not for now. It seems the current opportunities in Taiwan are smaller photo-shooting sessions that has an mid-ranking JAV idol in swimsuits (skimpy bikinis, I guess) and a bunch of paying customers taking pictures. He thinks that Julia is in the top idol category that would not put up with the long hours, "hard" work and relatively low pay (and perhaps the killer: low prestige) as photo-shoot model. He thinks Julia and other top idols are only suitable/willing for high profile, high pay, "classy" events such as adult trade shows. (in particular she would appear in "classy glamorous" dress rather then being almost naked throwing her cleavage, legs and cheeks around).

In other news, Yua Mikami seems to be spending a lot of time in Taiwan, and we assume she's there making, not spending, money. So somehow Yua, with a hugher prestige and star power, is finding opportunities that Julia managed to miss. (or choose to miss???)

But at least we get a better feel for Julia's status and personality/persona. (at least some) people still regard her as a top idol, her personality and/or persona is a bit snooty, BUT she (via her agent) is actively seeking more commercial opportunities. I think she's very deliberately managing her career path, not saying I agree with her strategy, but at least I respect that she is deliberate about it.

I still think she is vanilla not because she's too lazy/unwilling, I think she is vanilla because she calculated it's a more profitable niche for her, for now.

She more deserve to be a legend, her performances are much better than Rion
 
She's been a long time favorite for me for many years and I have the most of her work saved out of any other idol. However, I feel like she's stagnated, I haven't been the biggest fan of her oppai stuff as a lot of it feels story based and always end with the same fake creampie. (Sorry, I'm just really into facials). She seems to like to do things where she's more in control of the scene which I personally love more opposed to the usual submissive stuff.
