I completely agree. Without HereSphere's scale adjustment for me many movies would be unwatchable.
Curiously enough, I started testing a few days ago and I'm very happy with the results, to the point that I'm considering buying it, even though it's worth 300 euros / dollars...

I use three methods. From the most to the least recommended:
+ In Basic Video Settings, I activate the Alignement menu, and move the Right (Scale) bar to the left, as far as the eyes can take. Some movies I have to set to 2.7 or 3. This fix 99% of my problems.
In Basic Video Settings, Origin menu, and Forward bar to the left. It's the zoom. Zoom everything out a bit to make it look smaller, but you see the girls farther away, of course....
This should not be touched, use only in extreme cases where you see very large girls. In Advanced video settings, top left, set IPD to Manual, and set IPD higher than yours. With this the size of what you see is reduced.
Yes, the main flaw of this player is that it uses weird (or technical) names for simple things like zoom or scale...

That's pretty cool. I remember checking it out a couple of years ago, and people complained it wasn't well optimized for, well, lots of skin (i.e. upscaling porn videos), and the developers just said they listen to all suggestions. I guess they did!
I am not an expert by any stretch of the imagination. I normally either just do a 2x upscale at native framerate, or do a 1.5x upscale at 150% framerate. I use the Proteus model and put it in MANUAL mode. I will scrub the timeline until I find a good clear frame with no motion blur in the preview window. I then click ESTIMATE to see what the program suggests. I prefer to leave it in manual to have the entire clip have a constant setting. This screenshot is just an example, these are the values it recommended for me. I normally dial its suggestion DOWN more often than crank it up. I render a few previews as I tweak it.
I get more definition and sharpen with Artemis. When I have some time I'll post the configuration I'm using, although I'm still testing. I'll try to do a basic tutorial as well, but if you want to do it @NaughtyProfessor , you are welcome.
The rescaling from 4K to 8K has impressed me, it almost looks better than a native 8K from Fanza. With native 8K movies I also get a bit of an improvement. I'm so happy with the results, that despite it costs 300 euros / dollars, I have bought it.
With my RTX 4070 Ti Super graphics card, a 20 minute video takes about 12 -15 hours to process with Artemis, running at 100%... It requires a lot of hardware.. But even so for me it's worth it.

There is no fixed guideline, it usually depends on the director. VR movies are shot with an IPD (pupillary distance) that is usually in the average, around 64-65 mm. I have a high IPD of 68.5 mm, so in almost every movie I see the girls bigger than normal. If you have 62 mm for example, you see them smaller than their actual size. I have to use the first setting I posted, in almost every VR. But it fix 99% of them for me.
Then there are directors who don't adjust to the average, and I see people even bigger. For example VRKM usually has bigger girls than other studios, but acceptable with adjustments. The 8K versions of KIWVR I can't watch them, for example KIWVR-745, I see the actress huge, almost as if I were a hobbit. If you download it, compare it with one of Kawaii or JUVR, and you can see the difference, no matter what IPD you have.
Since a few months ago, Moodyz and S1 are releasing movies with the actresses with big heads, it's very strange, as if they were using zoom, there is an inept technician who does not know how to adjust the camera. For example MDVR-334, compare it with any other of Ibuki as MDVR-296, and it seems that Ibuki has grown 30 centimeters... Also the trailer of SIVR-405, I see the model huge.
These movies even using the three parameters I posted, I still see giant girls, it breaks my immersion. I can't watch them.
Fortunately in Heresphere you only have to adjust it once, the settings are saved automatically per scene. Only if you move the file to another location, you have to adjust it again.

I can kinda understand those fans of full nudity but I'm more on the other side. I think the clothes make the fantasy. If it's a school girl scenario, then the uniform makes and keeps the illusion alive. It also adds a sense of urgency, like if it were actually happening in a classroom, she might not have time to fully strip down (although the guy usually has time to take it all off LOL). And if she goes fully nude, then it's just any other video not necessarily within the fantasy so can have some repetitive sameness. If she takes off her clothes completely, then leaving on a token bit like the neck tie is ok.
This applies for most cute or alluring costumes like school uniform, office lady, lingerie, maid, evening gown, etc. but if it's a factory uniform then, I'm all for stripping that off asap.
And for some girls (definitely not including Rena Miyashita or Mio Ishikawa), the clothes help hide a flabby belly or other flaws that can be distracting esp in VR that exposes all the details.

I understand that there are people who like clothed sex, in fact it is the majority, because 80% of Japanese porn is clothed. What bothers me is that there is no rotation, and that makes it worse because they only do one VR every 6 months with star actresses.

It's the Japanese VR with the best image quality I've ever watched (A Festa's version, Fanza's version sucks). At that time A Festa still used bitrate at 100 Mbps, now it's down to 80 Mbps.
Miyajima Mei is absolutely sublime in this movie. This is true VR, in my Top 10 of all time. What SOD VR is doing now is garbage.

Mr Natch is a famous and respectable Japanese VR reviewer, currently in the Global Top 30 of the most rated reviewers on Fanza...
Not bad for someone who doesn't know a word of Japanese, and who only reviews VR titles... Strangely, A Festa works without any problem in the West: it has a website in English, you don't need a VPN, and you can buy points with any credit card. No DRM, just mp4 files to use where you want.
Yes, the discounted versions have the high quality 8K version, they are the same version. On the subject of compilations it depends, some come with the complete movie and others with selected scenes. I haven't bought many compilations, that's what Chewbaka knows more about, I think he bought a few as he discovered the store.
Takumi is what A Festa calls their special versions with more bitrate. If you can, always buy the Takumi versions, they look the best.

By the way, in relation to everything we are talking about, and beyond tastes and clothes or not clothes, there is one thing I have never understood about the Japanese mentality, regarding VR.
The Japanese do VR exactly the same as 2D porn, when it's a different medium. Something that does not happen in the West. I'm going to try to explain.
In 2D porn you are just a voyeur, a spectator watching a movie on TV or phone. In this context, it is similar to a Hollywood movie. You see the actors acting outside of you, and that's why movies make sense, like the student with the teacher, sex with family members, gonzo themes, sex with comedy... It's a movie where you just watch, it's actors acting. Like going to the movies.
But in VR, you are the main character, and that changes everything. But not for Japanese studios.
For me, VR porn makes sense if I can believe that I'm inside the movie, that I'm the one doing things with the actress. And in this context, I can believe that I'm making love with a neighbor, with the sister-in-law, with a co-worker, at home, at work, in a car, in a night club... In more or less realistic scenarios.
However, I can't get into a VR in which I enter the school and fuck four students, in which I kidnap a bus of students and r*** them, or in which my sister has a voodoo doll with which she moves my arms to make me fuck her, like one of the last from SOD. They are scenarios for a 2D movie, not a VR.
These fantasy situations, even uncomfortable ones, with f***rced sex, breaks the immersion, it shouldn't be the main engine of VR, as it is in Japan.
For me VR is this:
A pretty girl getting into bed with you, the excuse doesn't matter, and there is realistic sex with the camera very close. Here I can believe that I am the one inside the movie, and I "feel" the girl, which should be the goal of porn VR.
By the time you finish watching the movie your brain has believed that you have made love to the wonderful Miyajima Mei, which is a brutal sensation that can only be felt with VR, the closest thing to real sex that exist.

Nice. URVRSP-432 seems to be very similar from the plot to URVRSP-287. But no way the girl from URVRSP-432 is 42 years old as they claim in their marketing@2dxxxisdead , It looks like Unfinished is slowly coming back from the Dark Side and they are releasing again the kind of movies we like....
URVRSP-433 seems to be on the rougher side but it's very minor, could be fine. But hard to judge from the little info we have.

I personally don't mind if they do releases with clothes because like you say it's very common and to be expected that around 60-70% of all releases the girl is either fully or almost fully clothes in sex scenes. But also I feel the pain of @Walle12 from time to time that if they do like 4 or more releases in a row like that with a girl I like it can be very frustrating. VR is a niche and for most actresses we only get 1-3 releases a year or none for girls that are with Kawaii for example. That being said it's also fine to rant and complain about this stuff or whatever you want to complain about JAV VR related. I will for example keep complaining about releases with oil. Otherwise we would just copy the marketing material of FANZA and say fake stuff like the fake reviews on SAVR releases and this thread would be super boring.

You say that 3DSVR-1417 is an immersive experience while the r*ape on the bus release is not. That is true for you and me and most other people. But only because we desire the intimacy with the beautiful girl but we would hate to point a gun on a teenager on her way to her school to force her to have sex with us. But for those that desire exactly that the opposite might be true. It depends on the release but these crazy movies can be immersive to some. It's just not to our tastes.
The only reason it does not happen in the west is that they fear the payment services would stop working with them like they put a gun on the Japanese industry in the past. Also the western releases are very uncreative and the girls only play themselves. Which means they are more a stripper/sex worker than a girlfriend, more a well paid prostitute than a lawyer or realtor or whatever role they try to slip into. It again depends on the releases but JAV VR to me has much better stories and is way more creative than western VRs.
