How much do you like Yua Mikami?

In terms of the girl bands: Kpop goes for sexy whereas Jpop seems to go for cute, young, innocent. I don't really listen to either one but the Kpop girls sure are nice to look at.

JAV pretty much ends any hope she has at getting picked up in Kpop. Even though Kpop goes for sexier, it's still really sanitized and pure for the fans. I wish her luck and I kind of feel bad if her goal is to make it in entertainment... she's not a stand out talent and that porn history is going to follow her. She'll always be a gimmick or sideshow to the main cast of a movie/TV show. That's probably her best case scenario assuming she's intent on being in entertainment.

As for Yua Mikami the pornstar, I haven't bothered watching any of her videos. I have her Graphis sets and she looks really good.

Trying to keep my comments short:
Preface: I don't know pop music in general, and J-/K- pop in particular. I enjoy some anime music (a few are world class masterpiece!) that's about it. In particular I never develop any interest/respect for AKB48 etc.

1. Yua for k-pop? First question is ... since 2016, what constitute a rumor? Is it some casual/off-the-record comment from herself or her agency etc? Or some random joke from fans? For example, just recently I read an rumor that famous K-pop idol Jennie might do hardcore JAV, but who knows, it's just a rumor.
2. WTF is a dance cover? Is it even a thing???
3. Judging from the outrage from the translated(?) Korean comments, yes Yua can make a quick Won in K-pop. The gawking factor seems to be quite bankable.
4. The moment she stop being known as JAV idol, her mainstream "career" is finished. I said before, her non-JAV talent is not even good enough for a garage band, if a garage band ever needs a dance coverer.
5. About k-pop suicide. K-pop might be a nasty industry, I have no idea and no interest. But that news (?) article about the suicides, seems to say the fans are much much worse and nasty than the industry.
6. While I wish Yua all the success in whatever she does, I still think she has no future in any direction unless she keep on making porn. I certainly would waste no time or money on her if she were not one of top fav fapping tools. Furthermore, I love her ever more (meaning my cock gets so much harder) knowing she is doing all these "mainstream" things, especially in foreign markets.

7. Once again, what the fuck is a k-pop dance cover??!
Competition is strong within av as well. Some idols are poor without much promotion for their titles and no one knows they exist. K pop artist are very strict and competitive and they stereotypical doesnt have their own social life. It's all dieting, practicing, and drugs is a big part too. It might be a gimmick, but she'll probably try it anyway. A lot of ex av idols like mihiro, Yuma asami, and anri okita tried a singing career even if most are her av fans. It might be something they're passionate about and use their av fame to at least release a single.

My pet theory is that Yua does J/K-pop dance as a hobby/joke/gimmick/promo for her AV-plus career (AV plus photo-ops, events, and possibly underground-premier-pricing prostitution). To me she seems very career-smart and has no illusion about making anything "mainstream". Personally I think her face is a 9 (or 8.5) and figure is a solid 8, her sex skill is a solid 8. Her non-sex acting is maybe 9.5 (if she had more range I could give her a 10 or 9.8). Summary: she's a top idol, but nowhere (never was, never will be) THE top idol. I mean... I agree... if you watch only her monthly AV and know nothing about her AKB48 backstory and ongoing dicking around pop idolish thing, she's only one of the many top idols .

To remain in her current position as top-5 (or top-10) for a long period of time (say 2 more years) will be an increasing challenge if she only rely on the AV. So... her special sauce (also Shoko's) is that pop idolish fooling around dance covering not-a-thang-but-a-thing. And it's working for me! That Knock-knock and Twice dance-covers are great warm-up for a AV watching/fapping session.

Anyway, back to our bat channel.

As much fan as I am, I just can't get my blood flowing for SSNI-127. The pretend-real-dating-pretend-voyeur-filming is just too too fake for me, even if I already accepted most things are fake-ish in JAV. And that cover image is probably the worst ever cover for Yua Mikami. Is S1 actively trying to ruin her "mainstream" "career"?

Anyone watched it yet? Am I wrong to judge an AV by its cover?

It's an extra coat of illusion since she's living the exidol hype for 2 years. However, with how much she's earning including the headlines she makes I don't see her staying long like sora Aoi that left many years ago, but still manage to draw crowd today. Her s1 competitior akiho is still working twice as long as her while retired mihiro is still doing variety on abematv with newer av idols. Like celebrities, fans wants to see their personal life and talents for deeper fantasies.

S1 has a set way of doing everything, 90% of what they do is the same, they don't have much reason to ever differentiate from the norm.

I doubt there is really any illusion, she wanted to be an idol, and now with her potentially having a second chance at it she's going to go all out on it, she won't stay long her ambitions are way bigger then jav, and I think she'd take that risk of potentially messing up her jav career for the slim chance of being an idol. I also don't think the "ex idol" thing is a gimmick either, she spent most of her life trying to become an idol, it's just who she is and what she knows

She's been an idol since 13, so she knows how the industry works and is probably passionate at what's she's doing. The fan events and av is just her job and the pay is what's keeping her. I don't know how long her contract is, but I think she will leave when she makes enough. I don't know about venturing in to mainstream. Some av idols just love acting and singing in general.

The same with every other studios. Same cover and clothing starting different actress on the same set while typecasting the same guys to act as virgin or r**ist.

I don't know Sora Aoi well. She was never my type, so I didn't pay much attention. Are you implying she retired had something to do with the headlines she had? I just don't follow you logic why Yua's headlines may cause her to voluntarily retire. If you are implying she might make so much money from non-AV jobs that she might "graduate" from AV to bigger and better things. Or AV is a (moral) burden dragging down her mainstream career. Well I have been arguing all day AV is her career anchor, she was nothing before AV, and she will be nothing after AV.

And I think she knows it, and I think she accepted it and thrive on it. The world (especially Korea) may look down on AV, but I don't think (at least I hope) she minds what form of performance is required. I think she only care about success, if singing and dancing brings her success, fine. If sucking and fucking brings her success, that's equally as fine.

And for Mihiro... and few other ex-idols yes they are still making appearances so technically they do qualify as celebs. But (1) how much of their current career depends on their AV past? I think 95% or more. Say I bet they won't withdraw their old AV from DMM and other re/e-tailers. And (2) do you think their current career (say variety shows, doing events in Philippines) are even 10% as big or successful as their AV career?

Really I have no idea how long Yua Mikami AV career will last. At least 1 more year, seems to me. But past that... anything is possible. But one thing I think is impossible: she voluntarily retire or graduate from AV to concentrate on her non-AV career. Yes she might retire from all the typical reasons, health, marriage etc. Most long-career AV idols retire because of one thing: fans are abandoning her (hopefully this isn't Yua's fate). But she can't retire to do J-pop, she won't.

after catching a glimpse of SSNI-127 and saw the title covers of Yua Mikami, felt that she shouldn't be in this industry. Her looks belong to those mainstream idol instead of JAV idol. To me she doesn't look like a porn star. And like what one of us had mentioned, all the titles she produced so far are really similar.

her hair, fashion sense, face, etc..
I'll rather bring her out to a cafe and be proud of it rather than fucking and filming in bed.

She was once an idol and she does have her own style of fashion. We might be caring too much for her like probably most fans to popular av idols, which they don't know or care about. In contrast, some girls are more stiff and do the same things, but not a whole lot of people remember or notice them even in events. Also, there are variety in her av especially the range of guys doing her expand and change unlike shoko. Also, she's more passionate and can tease around too. Well, I guess fans can apply to try to be an av extra and don't care about having their face expose for a quick handjob. Even though she's an av idol, I think her standard is still high in choosing her partner for a date. Money and looks before personality in terms of impression. The av industry is still dominated by the same 40 years old plus av actors and some 60-80 plus grandpa working in the industry for the last 2 decades. It's tiring, but lucky at the same time since they can have guilt free sex with girls out of their lead especially new girls joining very month. The veterans are always pair up with the good ones.

Yes yes I know I know, I have been following JAV and especially major studios long enough to understand it (but not liking it) I was making a point that SSNI-127 is a special case of fail (again judging from cover and screen shots only) even amongst all of S1 formulaic vanilla vids.

Especially... With the persona of Yua Mikami she so carefully maintains, do you think she would wear that black lacy-shoulder, unsexy-short-skirt out on the street? It's too short for a funeral and downright ugly/inappropriate for any other situation, especially on a (fake) date. Yua has a specific persona, she shouldn't be doing certain genres like every other (top) idols. E.g. if she (according to S1 SOP) has to make at least one vid for that awful "完全プライベートSEX映像" series, she should be doing something a little special. E.g. she can do a glam date thing, dragging a boy-toy along to all the hot trendy places and being cute or moe or chippy. In fact, exactly like she did one simulated date vid on youtube, but add on a bunch of sex scenes. Another approach, more honest to the theme of the series. Is she's going under the radar-dating. Pretend she has to avoid paparazzi, but crave a date as an anonymous girl next door. So she put on big boring jacket, black sunglasses and face mask. Avoid popular crowded locations, and quietly sneak in and out of love hotels with boyfriend. IIRC her backstory was she "graduated" from AKB48 after reporter caught her "dating" some guys (notice plural guys) at a hotel(s), why not play that up for this vid?

The same for the generic fan meet idol drama Vcinemas or harem anime. It's becoming the same formula, so we can't nitpick too much and just suspend our belief. The same with most movies where a villain blah about his whole plan instead of killing the hero. The underestimate lead to their demise. It's just a gimmick. I wouldn't be surprise if she put on mask and glasses like the ideapocket version of this series. S1 and ideapocket titles overlaps a lot.

she's not that big of a special case where she should get preferred treatment over other S1 girls. No her scandal were underage drinking, making out with a member of NEWS, and talking shit about fans on a private account that was discovered, then graduated from SKE48.

It's still pretty common in Asia where male and female idols needs to act pure and innocent with no datings. They can be very nice in public, but bts they would talk a lot of crap about their competitors, creepy obsessive fans, and more. They're all hot blooded teens working in ther entertainment industry, so it's very expected. Besides, Japanese loves beers after work and probably taught them to drink and party in secret.

that has nothing to do with what I was saying, I was pointing out what her scandal was, that's what she went down for and not fucking around(who knows if she did or did not do that, but that's not what caused her to graduate) I know enough about idol culture and the akb universe from like 07-14

Idol lifespan isn't very long. Most of them you don't hear from anymoreanymore

I know what you mean... But Yua wouldn't be the first or the only one getting special treatment. Nor would she get special treatment for every vid. Rion gets special treatment quite often too (tailor-made video for her). It need not be a big deal. Other long running series have also allow some small variations sometimes to change things up sometimes to adapted to the persona of the idol, sometimes to fete a real or made-up anniversary.

I know S1's thang is consistence and predictability. But infrequent application of mild variation actually won't damage that predictability and even enhance it. The same, only different. The classic winning formula.

No her scandal were underage drinking, making out with a member of NEWS, and talking shit about fans on a private account that was discovered, then graduated from SKE48.
Interesting (perhaps only in my own head)... let's get back to her backstory another time.

Hmm how about now? It's partly my imagination, partly wishful thinking, but her backstory tells me three things:
1. she craves fame, money, success, and fans. This is the driving force behind all her effort. She has no special devotion to any particular art, say singing or dancing or acting.
2. she works hard, firstly earning a spot with SKE48, then now with a comfortable job as a top AV idol she still work a lot of extra jobs.
3. but she also plays a little hard and sometimes step (a tiny bit) out of the line.
4. she seems smart enough, I doubt she still has an unrealistic dream of big time idol after a mediocre career at an mediocre outfit SKE48. Her experience in AV and having done so many jobs and appearances around East Asia, I imagine she has by a now a sense of her (limited) talent and factors and paths that might lead to something.
