Lack of tech improvements in JAV

Okay, I'm close to throwing in the towel with the 3D treatments. I actually have another kind of headset on the way (can you tell I was really hoping this would work?) but after that I will probably just stick to creating normal SBS video because I tell you, the picture looks HUGE. I encoded a short clip from a Knights Visual title (thanks to the funders) as a normal SBS video (2568 x 720) and when looking through the C1-Glass goggles it literally takes up almost all of my field of view.

I recently have Samsung Gear VR and there is no way VR isn't the future. I haven't watched a single "regular" porn video since though content so far is too straight and narrow for my prolonged taste in many ways and with no JAV unfortunately.

The producers are basically virtualrealporn, Badoink, naughtyamerica and not much else. All of them to their credit, or the medium if you will, have produced some great stuff that gives you an unique experience but also plenty of duds which aren't that interesting beyond initial wow effect. They're definitely improving though.

But with how much, different jav producers have gotten out of regular POV it's a shame that they aren't on board with this since what they could do creatively would push most of what the current western producers doing out of the park.

And then there are the amazing idols working the camera up close, personal and flirty. In my mind that is made for VR and should/could be absolutely fantastic. They're so good at the things that many of the western directors/models aren't coming up with yet for VR.

To my knowledge there is one japanse vr movie http://www.dmm.co.jp/en/digital/vr/ which may have been linked already but it's not really the direction most will enjoy I think going for voyeur/360 over 180 pov and real immersion.

Agree, there will be more Japanese companies creating content for VR devices but at this point there is no market to justify this additional cost.

There is also one additional cost that western companies does not have. Japanese companies has to censor their content and if the the content is stereoscopic or you are able to move in the movie there is just more work to censor it.

Hmmm cute... but in porn/AV, I am completely opposite from you guys. I think there's little point in improving AV tech beyond 1080p and/or 3D display. VR googles, tele-sensory, implants whatever. NO!

Even SD works well enough for the purpose of AV, which is masturbation, or as background for 2P (or better???) sex. 720P is better, 1080P is best, 4k is pointless. 3D with glasses is fine for regular movies, but gets in the way with AV. Come on... does anyone watch AV (adult vid) for AV (audio-video) experience? It's about a sexual experience. It's completely different from watching TV/movie or anything else. We watch AV not for itself but as an aid to a higher goal: masturbation. So think about upgrading the masturbation, not the aid.

But that's just a crazy idea. Here is a much better one: Uber for sex. Use tech to help guys get sex. Sex, that is IT, fucking, it's the only meaningful upgrade from masturbation. Much of it will be simple prostitution, or its Japanese variants like compensated dating (援助交際) or delivery health. A man pick a girl, pays her some money for some kind of social or dating or sexual experience. But it may work in other ways too, could be just simple hook-up, no money exchange. Or it can support more sustained relationship, an affair (European sense of the word), with money exchange or not.

How it could work out different (better) from the sex trade and online dating businesses existing now is this: just like Uber, it may bring sex (and monetary compensation) to a lot of men and women who for many reasons had not make use of sex trade and online dating so far. A lot of people who rarely hire a limo uses Uber and many drivers who have never made money transporting people became Uber drivers. Could the same happen with sex? It's possible a lot of women who would not want to be a (fulltime) prostitute, like students, bored housewives, professionals would use something like this to get safe sex and/or make some money.

Another way to think about this: how to improve the tech of Food Channel? 3D? Smell-o-vision? Flavor-pad that the audience can lick? NO! Give the customer a real gourmet experience, in an restaurant or deliver the food, or best: a chef who makes house-call.

Oh, you are so right... how is it possible to create a VR AV with that censor ?? Even if you guys can tackle it, it will be quiet annoying when your VR has censor in it...

First I will say I have never seen a demo of the Oculus Rift or any other PC-based VR headset/software. Iv’e only experienced poor quality sample files from a Western porn company (Naughty America ) using $15 gear I found online. When I got my new Samsung Note 5 I couldn’t use them anymore. I very recently lucked out and found a new Samsung Gear VR on eBay for $40. I’ve read others not being impressed with it, but always because they’ve seen the Rift in action. I haven’t seen the Rift and probably never will. For what Gear VR does…I’m impressed.

In my rants in the past I settled on watching JAV in a virtual theater on a virtual big screen. On this hardware I like it even more. But now I’m 1000% more looking forward to the JAV studios at least attempting to produce at least some content for these things. The first video I grabbed as a test was of course a Western one since JAV is devoid of anything. I will just say it had to do with a teacher and two students and the viewer (that’s me!) was the school dean. This was a 180 degree 3D POV video. WOW! It even had binaural sound which was the icing on the cake.

If I could fly to Tokyo and get on my knees in front of anyone at the studios who would listen I would do just that. When the main actress stood up (and leaned over the students who were…ahem…working…) and got close to my virtual face to whisper at me…my heart started thumping. The 3D effect was impressive. And another instance where she later takes something of hers on her fingers and “offers it to the dean” I damn near opened my mouth. It is a very weird and wonderful experience, I must say. Having a similar experience with your favorite JAV star or STARS would make my poor heart a tired old man.

I read an article about this company’s VR work and they do it right. Others try to impress with 360 degree content, but who cares what’s behind you, and even if there is something going on behind you, they say with 180 they use all the image’s pixels on that area, with 360 the pixels are spread out. Not sure if that’s what ‘s going on, it was an exec that said it, not the tech guys.

Don't let anyone fool you with 180 video. You cannot move around, it is a static POV experience. That can be just as easily censored as a normal title.

4k - because it's still a niche compared to 1080
VR - is still not realy out yet ... no oculus rift , or the microsoft version of it

4k porn is amazing and definitely has a significant quality increase over 1080p.

Eh, don't feel too bad. Naught America is the only company I have noticed doing a decent amount of 4k releases. Still, just pointing out it is a big jump to those that say it makes no difference.

you don't know how badly i wanted to try this. the other technical innovations are, and will remain, far beyond me. but i thought i just might be able to squeeze my 46" tv screen through the bathroom door, lean it up on the sink, and put on --- i don't know --- maybe a soapland video. tough job though. small apartment. tiny bathroom. running the cables in there was going to be the biggest problem. (extension cords. special couplers, etc.) i don't have any waterjets or anything like that. but i thought i could unscrew the shower head and just let the water blast directly down on my ding dong. that's where the plans went awry. the damn shower head was rusted tight to the pipe. so call the super, right? do you know what the super told me? "not my yob". not his fucking yob! and i tip the bastard every christmas.

i never did move the tv. somehow all the energy went out of the project. it's still an excellent idea for those more capable than yours truly.

The more content I experience the more I hope the studios will ONE DAY jump on this technology. Hell, with Samsumg in the mix I'm surprised I haven't happened on some Korean content.

Do you have a way to view them? Google Cardboard? Gear VR? Something else? I mean...COME ON...who wouldn't want to have a 17 minute first person 3D VR experience molesting and touching Maki Hojo?

I got to 'try' out a One Shot Lighter title the other week (one with a lot of schoolgirls). It was my first ever VR experience and it was pretty neat, but it also made my eyes uncomfortable.

That would probably be the Gear VR. Could have been the phone. I had to make sure I got the Gear VR that was compatible with my Note 5.

For anyone that hasn't tried this, the screenshots I posted above will look odd to you. But when played in the VR headset it literally fills your 180 degree forward field of vision with an image that looks like things (and Maki!) are right in front of you. Great stuff.

That's the hard selling point w/ VR titles: how can you show off screenshots and sample videos if the end-user doesn't have a VR headset? On a flat screen it looks so strange.

Okay, this is far from a true experience, but it gives an idea of how it behaves. This is a sample from one of the Virtual Dogs vids. This is the student under the desk vid I referenced in the Woman Under Table thread. For those who don't know what you're looking at:

1. The camera movement is not camera movement. That's me looking around the room. Where I turn I can see, so when you see it look at nothing but desks that's because I turned to them.
2. The black areas are the edges of the 180 degree field of vision.
3. The controls are...the controls (me flipping around the scene)
4. The resolution of 1024x1024 is how my phone captured the video.

For anyone that has Gear VR or something similar, check out the clip in your headset.

Thanks I think you answered @Inertia nicely. And to me you gave a strong confirmation of my view of VR porn, it's a gimmick that won't do much to the porn industry. It's just a tiny tech delta over 3D porn. Which BTW has quietly faded away. If 3D porn doesn't stick, forget about VR porn.

Remember a year ago we saw a peak of 3D JAV... at what? Not even 5% of monthly releases. Maybe 1%... i.e. every 100 new JAV releases would include one 3D release or more likely 2D/3D combo release. Now...it's even way below that. Actually I don't think I notice any 2016 JAV comes in 3D version.
