So I'm quite late on the scene and just got a Samsung Gear VR, but I gotta say porn on it is amazing. Had my mind blown by a POV vid starring Mia Malkova, but I've had no luck finding JAVs so far. This brought to my attention that despite the technological advancements in the past few years, JAV has only dipped it's nipples into 4k and 3D...why is it not happening in a large scale manner? Surely a country always on the front of technology and an industry worth billions of dollars should be striving to enhance the consumer experience to the max?

Many AV companies still are shooting only in SD because they still think mainly in shipping physical product to video stores.

I know that porn is seen as technology innovator in the west, but what about for Japanese AV?

Does anyone know instances of JAV pushing technology before the Japanese mainstream catches up?

3d - because its crap
4k - because it's still a niche compared to 1080
VR - is still not realy out yet ... no oculus rift , or the microsoft version of it

The JAV industry released some 3D movies years ago. But I guess they haven't sold well. So why should they invest more if there is no market.

Haven't seen any 4K JAV movies so far. But I also don't know anyone owning a 4K TV or display. So...

Same goes for VR. I'm looking forward to that technique, but so far I don't know anyone owning such a device. I mean beside Google Cardboard. ;)

The thing is I feel there's definitely a market for it, and I thought JAV would be diversified enough to not only have amateurs, professionals, but also high end companies dedicated to delivering the very best at premium prices. They are already spending quite a bit on big productions with elaborate costumes, sets and special effects...a simple bedroom POV 180 video shouldn't be too far off the mark. If only I could get into the industry as a producer, I'd start setting new standards...become the Steve Jobs of JAV. Blow Jobs, more like (ba dum tss).

I am pretty sure it does xvii32. There is quite a selection if you search for torrents under OculusRealPorn, but none of them come close to Mia Malkova's epic I Have A Wife with NaughtyAmerica. The closeups are where it really shines...you feel like she's right in front of you...until when your eyes start to sink into your sockets 10 minutes in. If this cheap knock off Gear VR is already so impressive, I cannot imagine what Oculus will put out themselves.

i wonder if its work with google cardboard ? i've ordered one yesterday. can i have a title @Zen10101 ;)
I only can say that the 3D glasses for my TV somehow work, but the effect isn't very realistic. Same goes for 3D movies in the cinema. But Google Cardboard... I bought one and the effect is really r-e-a-l-l-y bad. At least for me. I heard from other people that they were amazed by the 3D effect. So maybe it depends on your brain and eyes how strong the impact / effect is.

I hope that will be better with this new VR stuff. Otherwise I have to wait for the holodeck. ;)

With that thinking you remind me of all the reality shows that shut down after 1 or 2 episodes.

How so? I'm talking about breaking new ground without having to break the bank, you're talking about Joe Millionaire compared to The Bachelor. 3D and 4k may be gimmicks, but VR is in a totally different league. It seems like you haven't even tried it? Geez, and I thought I was late:confused:

And look at how the West is approaching it as Inertia mentioned. The market is not that big but porn is matching it with a proportionate amount of content. Whereas JAV is not even at the starting grid.

If you were "quite late on the scene" regarding your purchase of a Samsung Gear VR, Zen10101, then I am later than late, because the only part of that phrase that I was familiar with was the "VR" part. I looked into the product, and it is intriguing.

Regarding your "Jobs" crack, you were deserving of not only the ba, but the dum, and even the tss.

Still very few people know about VR gear. Very few of those few actualy have bought such gear. And imagine how many people of that niche not only watch jav , but would spend money on VR jav , so the companies producing it could make enough profit to keep producing them.
Western porn is mainstream all around the world and jav is prety much just a japanese thing. Both markets are not comparable.
Also like i said , business is done with stats , not feelings. But if you are so so sure it is a profitable idea , contact some venture capital fund. :D

You are underestimating the size of the JAV market,it is already massive in Japan alone not to mention in China and Taiwan. And I find it odd you would think that VR is more unknown in these countries compared to the rest of the world. JAV companies should have no problems taking small steps that can also serve as great marketing moves.

Business needs to be done with both passion and stats. It is precisely your kind of thinking that has led to samsung churning out new editions of their phones by just making it bigger and more expensive, and look how much money they've lost this year. Yea I probably should look for someone to fund me,but I suggest you don't,no offence:p

I have to reiterate though,I am not expecting VR to be full blown on JAV or even porn anytime soon,at least not before the rift is out. But i am definitely switching to wanking with the gear permanently,I mean you get to watch JAV on a movie screen ffso_O

Zen10101: is the market for JAV in Taiwan and China mainly legal or illegal? If the latter, then the market does not really exist in the eyes of makers here.

Side-By-Side. Does the video look like two images side-by-side? Or is it just a plain HD picture?

Yup it's side by side.

Zen10101: is the market for JAV in Taiwan and China mainly legal or illegal? If the latter, then the market does not really exist in the eyes of makers here.

Good question; they are illegal. However despite the existence of torrents, many of the sources I went to state that the porn market is worth over 20 billion USD in China and South Korea each...I'm pretty sure a huge percentage of porn in these countries refer to JAV, though not too sure how much of it goes to the companies. I guess some portion of it is made through imports or subscription fees. Even if we were to leave foreign markets aside, Japan's market is also worth a staggering 20 bil, and the average consumer spends way more on porn than the average American. It's not far fetched to think that the regular otaku would spend a little more cash on a google cardboard just to watch porn in VR purely out of curiosity.

I also found out that while JAV's reaction to VR has so far been muted, in the gaming scene they are really starting to pick up the paces and have been constantly creating fresh content for the Rift, very little of which has been released outside Japan. So interest and awareness is definitely there.
