IMO Maki Tomoda's comeback is the exception not the rule. She kept her stage name and seems to exert influence on her movies. For whatever reason, she hasn't shot interracial, Sunshine Boys, The Tokyo Stooges, r*** etc.yes, and today economy situation also

You're like 2 years late. She's retired for a while now and I think she still works in ideapocket with other girls like rio and tia as well managing some small side business. I guess there's too much new girls, scaling back payouts, and she's probably not getting as much opportunities and don't want to overwork filming more hardcore crazy niche titles. Although, she did a tran newhalf before retirement. Rio didnt even do a grand retirement like other ride pocket girl like Aino.
Because...?there are some reasons why less and less grand retirement / official retirement videos
1. less income -> less money to make vids -> much more selective to make retirement vid
2. more and more of them come and go and comeback, so retirement / final / farewell vids its not necessary anymore
Some don't want to film more degrading scene or increase the quantity it of titles to make up the difference. Some even felt like they made enough and decide to settle down and pursue other things in show biz or their private life since they're e older and always getting typecast. More and more new girls join every month and not all veteran Diva gets perk. Those that comeback usually are desperate in need for some money after all they can't get hire for decent jobs without a college degree. Maria and sora got lucky retaining their fame and found their success and other halves.

"Boring" is fairly synonymous with JAV, I think, though she did a couple that were pretty hard-core. I wouldn't mind seeing her in some uncensored videos in the U.S. She had a career in IV as Yuna Kawase (my avatar), then in AV as Kaho Shibuya. There's still some room to grow....
