So what do people expect as "in-depth tell-all"? she already told very private, family and relation stories. She reveal very deep thinking about, say, talking to her (eventual) child. Only the guy missed an question after Emiri basically declare she would support her daughter if she insist on doing porn:

I found the interview far far more than just NICE. It's very honest, very insightful and tells us very much not just about herself but the industry and society, if you actually listen, and yes, watch her body language. The entirety of it is that the industry is the industry, ALL of the nastiness come from the outside society (mother, boyfriend, non-porn entertainment), not the industry.

Yes, she speaks mostly about herself and her view on society. But skims on how the industry treats the girl. Based on your theory and how quickly the studios and agency reacts to the recent allegations aganist it, it will seem that everything is depressingly legit and the actresses have a lot of say in how things are run.

So what does that make the girls who turn their backs on the industry after gaining everything ? Theoritical traitor who cave in to societal and family pressure instead of standing their ground to this is who they are ? I realise that nothing is ever so clear in life but it makes an interesting discourse of a case study on if it is better to be individualistic or falling in line to society's demands.

What does pessimism or romanticism has to do with it? So far I have not considered joining the industry myself. And if someone (female) close to me I would certainly discourage it as strongly as Emiri would discourage her own hypothetical daughter. And then if she insists, well exactly like Emiri I would eventually support her and help her if it's within my power.

For the record, if a young person (male or female) ask my opinion about becoming a e-sport athlete, professional gambler, or J-pop, I would oppose it more strongly and stubbornly than I would oppose him/her joining JAV. Let me actually add politicians and US president to the rank of "career choice worse than JAV".

We are not talking about outlook on life. We are talking about basic common sense. I watch her, and hear her said only neutral or positive thing about the industry. It's not my outlook, it's what she said. If you think industry is nasty and she didn't say it, well don't debate me. Go and challenge HER, go on her Tweeter and challenge her. I have no stake in it. No one on here (with a very very tiny exception for @Inertia ) has any stake in it. So whatever you say, is talking in your own echo chamber. Well EVIDENTLY you are not in the deep circle known only to the most serious most 1337 AVers: 5chan. The speculation of Stockholm Syndrome actually came from 5chan. They've uncovered solid evidence that when she was 6 years old she was abducted by Kim Jung-il and ass-r***ing until she become a communist agent and all the money she made from AV she gave to North Korea to make a mini nuke implanted in her throat for the day when she give Donald Trump a blowjob she will blow up half of Tokyo.

My psychological analysis over the course of this entire thread is that jwlim80 gets off on the despair of porn actresses, like, that's his reason for watching porn, so naturally he'll try to incorporate that fantasy into everything. Kinda similiar to how samurai79 is always like "Haha, look at those worthless whores, man, once you have sex in front of the camera you cease to become human, yeah, let me just wank it in front of my computer real quick.". I think he likes to seem like an authority figure bringing information from the JAV industry. It's whatever, I'm sure some people appreciate it.

As for the interview, you can see she didn't enjoy her time in JAV. I'm not saying she hated everything about it but it's acting at the end of the day. They're faking enjoyment. Very few people enjoy sex in a hot room with bright lights shining down on their skin as half a dozen clothed people film, do sound and bark directions. They have to memorize lame lines for an unconvincing plot. The sex is a lot of starting, stopping, waiting for cameras to get in position.

Good luck to her. I hope she got what she wanted out of going into porn (the money, friends and lifestyle).

Not quite... It's a job, but she did cry (privately as far as I understand) at least once due to the job. So it's not all happy happy. And she clearly discourage anyone joining the industry (especially her own daughter). That's a bit worse than "a job and nothing else". About the crying... I am pretty sure 99.9% of Japanese OL have cried more than once due to work. Probably 50+% of OL cries in private (and/or abuse alcohol) at least once a month, probably worse than JAV.

It's a job that attract a lot of relationship problems and social stigma. And she flat out stated (well hinted) that a lot of girls joined JAV industry without understanding their choice.

Overall impression is that JAV industry is a tough career path. The popular idols gets no rest (not even Sunday off), the less popular girls get no income and pressured into performing more weird and disgusting sex. Family and bf disrespects you, even disown you or threaten you. I think the worse part is how fickle the fans are, each new girl put her lifelong reputation at risk but very difficult to get a multi-year career out of it. When the sale ranking goes down, the fans forget you (with the job offers) but contemptous 4chan jerktrolls never forget.

But it's only tough and nasty, not a one-way ticket to ruin and hell. Whether she's faking it or not, she is projecting an external image of a winner, not a loser. She got a 5+ years career out of it, perhaps saved up some money, got the validation/fame/success that she was wanting since childhood (that's perhaps the most most important of it all) and she exited the industry on her own terms.

BUT ANYWAY... it's an interview, not a UN Human Rights Tribunal on Japan AV Industry (won't that be fun?!). Some of you know I have a negative obsession about certain JAV genres. When she said she wanted to perform a time-stop vid (but never did) I was really really wanting to hear a long and deep conversation about time-stop and all those weird Japanese-unique porn genres and niches. But of course I can't expect her to say out loud what she really thinks about those weird fans.

We'll agree to disagree.

Shedding tears off-screen cannot be verified. She would discourage her daughter but acknowledged it would be her choice to get into the industry. The significant other who is outside the industry was unusual.

I didn't hear anything new: delusional fans, difficulty maintaining status, family/relationship drama etc. US porn stars talk about the same issues.

Well yeah... maybe each of the data point isn't new. But "new" isn't so important, is it? Again this is not a prosecution of the industry. It's her life and experience and her angle on the industry and society.

As we have this conversation in the thread, I think about her answers more the more I think the interview is very honest and very comprehensive. We now know as much about her as her father does. Actually more.... I think we know her more than her own father knows her.

And I also don't think it's very helpful to compared with the US scene. The Japan scene is hugely different, thank GODS for that.

PS: BUT~~~~~~~~~~~ seeing Stormy Daniels on SNL... I mean... GAWD by JAV standard she's hot grandma category (yes... I notice your avatar @Blade Runner ) but by US standard, she's above average. I must admit the US scene maybe starting to look a bit like EU and JAV scene. I agree that her responses were honest and sincere.

I didn't expect a tell-all-interview about the industry.

I don't follow the US porn industry as much these days.

I think Emiri exaggerated a bit with her no rest / 28-days shooting a month claim. Even ignoring the "exclusive" actresses who probably never work more than 10 days a month greeting events included, I think very few performers shoot that much (currently, probably just Kimijima Mio and Hoshina Ai have potentially had this work-rate in the last few months) and from the Twitter accounts I follow even freelance popular actresses have enough free time to make trips, go shopping, spend time with friends, attend sport events and so on.

Yui hatano, ai uehara, hibiki, and maybe more lesser known got like half a dozen plus titles a month ranging from different studios like odd niche fetish gvg to lesbian/solo including VR to regular vanilla titles with the same group of veteran guys.
4 hour movies are usually compile releases or when they do crossover team up with different studio or girls. i guess the 20 costumes series could take more time to shoot and act as different roles, but idk it takes 28 days unless filming is very short and it's film in conjunction with others.
Also, there are limited around of veteran guys from their niche group of working in the av industry for almost 20 years upward. They're paid better and studios rely of them because they got the acting, skills, endurance, and know how to make the girls comfortable in their roles. No way they're reserving and using the top guys for just 1 girl in a month. kind of envy them and discourage guys trying to make a career making love to new hot girls or their fav idols unless youre a niche that's unseen in av like the old man and the midget that gets to paid to do one hot girl per a month.
Not to mention popular contract idols from s1, ideapocket, etc films quite a lot of minor Vcinemas, do voice acting for games, attend idol event a few time a month at different cities, stream at different live chat platforms, and manage their own social media and studio/management social with promo clips including some that does youtube like tpowers, as well as practice/perform muscat like group activities.
 
I guess if you're not yua mikami level then salary is pretty shitty since rent in tokyo isn't cheap along with buying makeup and going to salons using your own pocket money. Some escort and have sugar daddy Bf or loyal fans that help support some of them With "gifts".
It's not like mihiro, who sort of a level below girl like Maria, sora, and rio back then manage to earn a lot. She still hang around and work with the new muscat girls despite removing her titles online instead of distancing herself since her career is still pretty much link with av in general from the abematv shows. it's always quantity from some bigger names that looks like theyre trying to compensate with filming more.
A lot complain about piracy and I think Aino and Shimiken talked about it in a interviews they shared on twitter. Maybe that's why girls are leaving since if they made a name already then they can try using it to score other opportunities or invest in their own business. Plus studios and management are scaling back and probably cut some of their salary on new contracts renewal since there's always new girls and casual fans are forgettable. not a lot stick too long in the business.
Hibiki, yui, amami, jessica, etc reached their 10 years and akiho, yuria satomi reached their 15th. They still got the looks, but looks alone isn't enough to get them this far when there are always hot young girls scouted to join. Some bts and excessive promo is needed. Maria, sora, akiho, yui, rio, and maybe ai uehara, etc are household names in Taiwan, hk, and china because of that and gets to film there usually playing fictionalize and exaggerated versions of themselves. It's probably a win win for companies to use them to sell toys and games and those online casino ads since it attract crowds and they're probably compensated quite well. Sometimes, like actors and even YouTubers are getting the real money from sponsor endorsement and merch sales.
 
Emiri's interview really blows up and it's one of the highest viewing video on the channel. It's probably good publicity for her. Yeah, we don't know what goes on bts in av and idols private lives, but this is just her perspective. I can understand it being troubling for her family and her ex. Communication and support is important. She's in her own world with her own group of friends, so Idk she'll regret it.

Like I mention before, a lot of av idol is in some kind of group like the tproject meme and muscat, etc. they also need to practice dancing, attend events, and travel to different country for other shooting like ads or some sleazy movie. Yui only gets 2-3 days off too and she's one of the busiest with events and av shoot. Vr, b/g, and more niche you name it. Av idols used to be able to make like millions if they're popular in sales, but now the negativity scandals, over saturated competitions from real idols are hurting their salary, so it's pretty normal to see them retire after they're contract is done since new popular girls gets the better deal. Unlike blockbuster movies, people rather pirate av and they're no royalty incentives for retired actresses, so it's fine they try to remove their titles from online circulation like mihiro despite she's still very closely working in the new muscat girls.

I looked him up and he once got in to some insensitive racist controversies in clothing merch. Idk, it seem like lust all the way. I'm not a fan of her, but it's rare for an active av idol to reveal her bf, but in this case her bf is more famous. I guess it's the western side of her personality.
