is it me or are the videos just blurry when viewed on my vive?

Which ones are you looking at? All the ones so far Casshern have up here have the lower 1600x1600 resolution. The 2100x2100 resolution look a little sharper to me, but then again, I don't have a vive, but a note phone.

I'm looking online among smartphones that could be interesting and I don't really know if Quad HD is really need over 1080p for the screen. Do you notice a real difference ? Because there aren't that much smartphones with a Quad HD screen, even more if you don't want to pay 800 euros for a smartphone (way too much for a smartphone and not worth it).

I've owned the Oculus DK2 which was 1080p and couldn't enjoy video content, the screen-door-effect was too pronounced and resolution too low. Now I regularly watch VR porn on my S7+GearVR and/or Oculus Rift. It's not perfect but it's good enough. The way video's are produced has been improved upon as well though. You'll notice a difference for sure between 108op and QHD. If 108op is good enough for you, I don't know. My advice would be to try and find a good deal on a used S7+GearVR now that the S8 is close to launching.

Thank you for the info. I saw that there was a Samsung Galaxy S7 Edge et le Gear VR pack for 510 euros in january, maybe there will be another offer soon.

For those using Gear VR, I highly recommend SkyBox VR player as an alternative player.
It has two very useful adjustment settings, the zoom and the tilt, that the official player lack.
It can also stream 2D or 3D videos from your PC to the phone wirelessly, so you don't have to transfer files to your phone all the time.
Check it out.

• As before, these are all transcodes made by me from HEVC/H.265 to AVC/H.264. My device still has problems playing back the original files in a player of my choice and ffmpeg can't generate preview files from these either (a simple copy of the stream to a new file works though).
