This is a pirate site. They just get the content illegally from us and upload for free to their site. Then they make the site full of ads and make some money.
If you think you are losing money you can imagine how the makers, actresses etc are feeling.

Hi R18.com I have found another website that makes money in a worse manner.
http://www.japansm.com/
I think it's based in the US since it provides free shipping in the US.
They literally sell pirated DVDs for JAVs.

Damn... I wish I had seen this thread earlier :(

I used a VPN to gain access to DMM.co.jp and bought a JAV title. It was painful enough having to get everything translated but long story short I bought it and downloaded it and realised it has all these silly DRM protection in it and it forces me to use their special media player, which really ruins the watching experience (no keyboard shortcuts to skip through scenes etc)

Does anyone know how to get it playing on a normal media player itself? Or even bypass the DRM? I realised that now I have to activate my VPN to use the DMM Chrome player. Not sure about the windows DMM player...

THEN I realised that R18.com is basically the international version of DMM.... Why did the site not just re-direct me?!!? Can I transfer my purchase to the international site? I'll be one happy customer...

EDIT: Even my DMM.co.jp login works on R18.com but the library doesn't seem to be shared damn...

It didn't redirect you because you were using the VPN, if your connection looked like it was coming from Japan, that is.

Well no, I resorted to the VPN because initially it just said that "I can't access the site" and was showing me like some pic of skype language classes or something random lol

Hi. DMM.co.jp has been open for overseas users since more than 3 years ago. 2 years ago when we open R18.com we closed the movie/ecomics services in DMM.co.jp and suggest the overseas users to use R18.com

The message showing Skype English teaching classes is for DMM.com not DMM.co.jp

I see... but when I go to DMM.co.jp I just get an error saying: "This page is not available in your area."

Would it be possible to transfer my purchase? I'd rather not have to use a VPN everytime.

The use of DRM created all the pirate sites. I'd like to download from the various companies, but I'm not putting your DRM spyware on my PC. YOU are the ones costing the makers and actresses money. American porn companies learned these lessons years ago.

Ace69: oh please, it's not because of DRM. Most of the pirate sites push out 0-day releases supplied by people who work in the DVD pressing plants in Taiwan. DMM's DRM is apparently a pain in the butt to crack and at the rate these sites are pushing out uploads, they're not taking the painfully slow video capture route.

Agree. Employees stealing CD/DVDs or copying files to USB jump drives isn't news. I'm surprised the studios don't have adequate security policies.

Blade Runner: I'm surprised so many studios press discs outside of Japan when they're just going to be sold mainly domestically. Japan has recently (ie, last few decades) had a kinda nationalist streak (and I don't mean this in a bad way). You frequently see things for sale here that make big mention that they are 'Made in Japan' and sometimes they charge a bit more than their foreign-made competitors. I think if AV companies did the same where they press the discs locally, charge maybe 500 yen more, but also make big mention that they made the discs in Japan, it wouldn't hurt sales at all. There definitely exists ample disc-pressing companies here. Pretty much all major motion picture DVDs and BluRays for the JDM market are pressed in Japan.

So I noticed one of the movies I purchased not too long ago was removed due to contract obligations. And all in all it was available on r18 for around 9-12 months. It's great knowing they sell us lifetime access to movies when they only have rights to do so for a year or less.
:pusing:

Waxaxa: somewhere earlier in this thread R18 said they'd possibly refund or issue a replacement if a movie was removed for that reason. I'd suggest you contact their support.

There is no such thing of us just having right to distribute a movie for a year or less. As mentioned before, there are circumstances that the movies need to be removed because of legal issues. (eg. Actress sued the maker etc).

before each of us assumes too much it's about this one www.dmm.co.jp/mono/dvd/-/detail/=/cid=84real526/
-each actress has hundreds of movies on r18 so it can't be their problem it's been taken down?
-dmm still sells this movie, digital and physical copies so how's it good for DMM but not for r18?
-r18 still sells 38 other movies from the same series, including 2 other high school specials (real526 being the first) so it shouldn't be the studio's issue either.

dafuck: I defend DMM a lot, but is their reply time really "within one week"? If so, that's insanely shitty. Any site of their size should have a much better turnaround than that. 1 day max regardless of weekend, holiday, the Rapture, etc.

I sent them a query too and it took about 4 or 5 days. Hopefully they will get back to you sooner.
