"Behind the scenes" features might be a little redundant or awkward for JAV because a lot of times JAV already pretends to be "behind the scenes" footage. Usually a JAV even have an "interview" with the actress or some other "dressing room" scene.

In the very first scene of STAR-598, Iori Kogawa is doing a photo shoot and they show you everything: the set, crew, the camera, the lighting equipment, etc., and then she gets bukkaked. And that is literally the scene: behind the scenes bukkake.

behind the scene supposed are reality of whats going on the set that not put into or cut out from the video, but in JAV now we have stagged behind the scenes too

Those are scripted too. Usually positive interview and what the viewers wants to air. There are some BTS clip for uncensored yui hatano and s1 bath house massage series. I remember maria ozawa and yua aida maybe even sora aoi got some massage tutorial in between takes. There are some blooper clips of laughing and teasing in some av and Amwf scenes, but usually no longer than 3 minutes. They made a movie about mihiro early idol to av career a few years ago. Real av BTS might break your fantasies.

Yeah, I know they are not real. That's why I put quotation marks around "behind the scenes" and "interview" and "dressing room" and why I used the word "pretends".

Fake BTS is a major theme of JAV. That's why I think it would be awkward to have real BTS for a lot of JAV. Real BTS for fake BTS...?

There was a short blooper of yui hatano laughing during sex circulating on Taiwanese news. She got some for the mannequin and uncensored stuffs. I remember one of yua aida early ones have her reading script while doing her makeup. I guess scripted interviews are there to satisfy your curiosity and fantasy. Even bts/blooper in mainstream movies are highly scripted for special director cut and only shows the funny gag reel.

of course in mainstream movies those are scripted, whats I dislike are stagged interviews not scripted acts, I'm aware that scripted interviews are to satisfy fantasy, but if you can easily watch the actress give different answer for same question in other interview make the interview total bullshit

Let's say it again, BTS isn't journalism, isn't about the "real" person (vs. just a fuck doll), or insight about industry. It's a commercial product (or part of it).

BTS makes most sense when the product is a elaborate production and the BTS shows you how the special effects are done, or highlight the set or costumes. You know I'm the kind of guys who appreciate a magic show even more after learning how it's done.

Once in a while, you get to see a bit of the art of acting. Like actors and directors exploring the character blah blah. You might have Capt. Piccard shows his 16 different ways to say "Make it so" or Mr. Bean his 280 ways to twist his nose. I seem to remember Harrison Ford and Sean Young was totally fighting and finally when they film the forced kissing scene, it was a bit of both acting and real life mixed up. Of course this is only possible in the special edition that come out like 20 years after the original release.

That's all for the old school kind of film-making. The product itself is to sell you a fantasy "A long time ago in a galaxy far far away ..." and especially when it's a film so well made that it blew the other films out of the water. Then "how it's made" BTS itself is also a bankable product. (I spent quite a bit of my childhood savings on various books that might categorize as BTS).

But let's be honest, unless we are looking at SW, LOTR, Pirates, Avatar these epic films, 90% of BTS out there are boring time-waste. They (usually) cost very little to make and some fans (esp. DVD reviewers) demand them, so that's how it goes.

Nowadays, the barrier between the film and the film-making is blurred or even broken down. So EVERY AV debut vid has the girl being "interviewed" by the director. Especially considering I don't understand Japanese, I really don't care about the actual answers, ever. Really... does it matter at all her first kiss was she was 15 or 12? Or she had 12 sex partners or 2? Look if she's really 22 years old, she shouldn't have any interesting life story to tell. (r***ing by her step-father since she was 13 and now she's doing porn? Sorry not the kind of story I want to know)

Instead, the "interview" might be interesting for the "meta" stuffs, her voice, her mannerism, her (made-up) back story, could be fun (or dumb). E.g. in Rion's debut vid, the director actually held up a DVD box with her previous identity and ask if she's the same girl, IIRC she actually say it's only a "co-incidence" (was it how she answer?? anyway it's pretty funny/dumb)

Yua Mikami (and others) vid likes to start with a fake news conference. I always fast forward them, but having an idol-ish press conference is part of the shticks to sell her celeb status. My complaint is that it ought to be more elaborate shtick with (say) better decorated room, more believable actors posing as reporters, cameramen (with professional camera and flash), and fans (dressed according to the idol), and more exaggerated reactions to whatever is being announced in the press conference.

What the term for it, Unreality TV? I've no problem with the concept. Say if Aimi says she had a simple normal childhood until a talent scout convince her to do porn, in one vid. And then in a different vid she tells when her breasts developed made her popular early on and she became a school slut and now she can't even orgasm unless she's tied up and treated roughly (no I never heard her say that, I'm just making things up). OK fine, I just take as part of the commercial presentation. Who cares if her story is never the same? @Supmop ?

For proper BTS, I would be interested if the big production ("planning") vids might offers more BTS. The big orgy vids must not be easy to film. Even more interesting the SciFi/fantasy theme, like the ZIZG titles, like Taimanin, or fake futa (I won't mind seeing how the fake penis works and glued onto our fav idol's crotch).

Or even the types that I'd avoid at all costs, say scat. If it turns out (gods I do hope so) they are FAKE, say the performer all had deep enema cleaning, then fake stuffs is made with say rice, chocolate, food colors etc and pumped into her rectum and when filming she push it out and eat it. Hahaha, that kind of vids totally disgust me, but if there's such kind BTS I would want to watch it. LOL.

Most people only like to watch heavily scripted interviews(gag reels) and staged BTS because Authentic behind-the-scenes are actually very boring. They just want to film and show what fans wanted to see. Just like reality tv shows, people demand them even they know is fake. Celebrities, youtube vloggers, and idols at AV events are using different personas to appeal to their fans at public events. Some real bts would be just some video taken by a fan/bystander while a mainstream movie is in production. I guess the closest bts from a porn production would be something like this one. Here's a clip of Latina porn actress in a porn shoot from a decade ago. Not much editing and you can hear the camera shutters. pornstars takes multiple breaks during the shoot to rehydrate and reapply makeup or pause themselves for photos.
