Why is it hard to comprehend that some ho's would rather blow Ronald McDonald for 10 mins than flip the burgers for a day.

Now that would be one McSlurpy if anything... :puzzled:
Want fries with that???

---a short edit.

I think we should also not forget that the XXX industry in Japan is larger than that of the whole of North America and Europe combined.
I believe, if I recall it correctly, Japan is either 50% or 2x higher in sales per capita on adult information, dvd, media, magazines and articles such as toys and so on, than the whole US market.

It is a multi billion dollar industry and still growing. It is a very fast way for young people to make hard cash in a fashion driven society that seems to put little interest on the individual but more focus on the "image" depicted.

As I once told a former colleague when working with some art material and a fashion show setup...

"We create an illusion, We sell the illusion...
When you try to live the illusion you know it's time to quit!"

I personally see no difference between the "trixter turning on the corner" or the professional AV industry.
It is as much (or little) difference as between the little private auto repair shop on the corner and your regular Ford dealership mechanics.

One is more regulated, often self regulated, and does regular "staff checkups"... (pun intended on the staff thing) and the self employed little chop shop has little to no employee regulations or medicare bonuses.

And no one here, or anywhere else for that matter, can convince me one little bit
that Yuka Osawa and Urara Haru does not enjoy every second of their job descriptions and it's practices.

Excellent observations and comments techie. I can not say I agree with you on all points though.

First off I must admit I am not familar with Yuka Osawa or Urara Haru. I do visit the porn sections here on occasion and have seen my share of western porn in the past, (I am familiar with Nina Hartley, Sharon Mitchell, Ginger Lynn, etc., but I suppose that dates me a bit). What they do is a job. Sometimes they go to work when they don't feel like it or work with people they don't like or are asked to do things they would prefer not to do. Just because one enjoys sex does not make being a pornstar a dream job.

Then there is "after" work. Is this a job one feels proud of? Does it give them a sense of accomplishment? Is it something that their parents, grandparents, sons and daughters can be proud of? Are they comfortable discussing their jobs with people they care intimately for?

Whatever the answers are to the previous questions the answer for ones who prostitute themselves on the street corner is not going to be yes or even maybe. That makes it a huge difference between "the little private auto repair shop on the corner and your regular Ford dealership". There is more going on here than any similarities in "job description".

Why is it hard to comprehend that some ho's would rather blow Ronald McDonald for 10 mins than flip the burgers for a day

Sucking Ronald McDonalds penis for a cell phone or new pair of jeans or a new pair of shoes? Really? This is comprehensable and acceptable behavior in your eyes? You would do it? Would it be okay if one of your loved ones did it? Would you comprehend it and accept it if they told you? But I bet if they flipped burgers for a day to get the same items not only would you not mind them telling you, you might even be proud of them. They might even be proud of themselves.

This is not the same as riding a pizza delivery bike, (I loved that story by the way, aquamarine), because a better job is not available. This about debasing oneself because you can not do without a few "niceties". If times are tough, you cut corners and work hard to make ends meet. You don't go out and whore yourself just so you can buy an ipod.

Second try on this reply.. I clicked the wrong button...

Yes I am most observant towards Yuka and Haru ... :joker:

I agree on the dating and I am in the same boat as you there Ceewan.
However please don't forget Nina is now both producer and director of her own label too.

You don't go out and whore yourself just so you can buy an ipod.
Sonotori!

I do not try to condone what everyone is doing, nor discourage and judge them all alike, as with everyone their mileage may vary.

I think we can all agree that the fact some does what they do for lust, fun, pleasure, craving be it money or attention, or whatever the reasons of greed and desire may be, or in the really nasty cases, if they are forced into it, they all have a reason and I don't want to judge anyone for what choices they make to cope with it afterwards.

I am certain, even though some try not to appear as such, feel strongly about their justification and questions prior to entering into the "scene". And may even question their choice for a long time to come after it ends.

I, as well as you, cannot justify the choice of doing what they do solely for mediocre and mundane reasons such as getting doe for fashion.
Maybe if their mother is in a hospital bed perhaps, and food is less than abundant, and even if they admit to loving the life, choice and activity, then ok. Their choice and not mine to judge.

Whatever the reason may be, that they enter into this scene,
I think we can perhaps agree on one thing in our discussion;

---
Age is great, as far as experience goes.
Age is a terrible thing, in particular when considering forgetfulness.

With age we tend to forget at most how forgiving time can be,
by fading memories of things long past and bad choices we made as young.

--- (That almost sounded intenedent... eeerm.. intelligent) :puzzled:

I think you are also ignoring the current economy that's sitting on Japan's shoulders at the moment. I recently met a man while out ordering from Pizza Hut. He is a business grad from Tokyo but he studied for four years and graduated from Colorado State University. Due to the economy now, he drives a pizza bike ten hours a day. You can't tell me that the economy isn't having any impact on the 'job' choices of some of Japans young women...

i thought japan's economy is one of the best in the world :puzzled: well i guess im wrong then...

Actually I think that the best economy in the world at the moment can be found in China. Now what good the strong economic growth in China is doing the Chinese people? That I can not comment on. Japan, USA, and many European countries are still strong world economic leaders as always but they presently suffer from a receding economy, (thus the term recession). So not only are new jobs not as available as before in these areas but old job positions are being eliminated. This does not mean that those countries still do not import, export, produce and consume more than other countries and are therefore considered to be among the best in the world from an economic standpoint.

Plainly put:
You were right in the first place. This is just the basic state of the world economy at the moment.

just so I know the background, what made you think that?

Was that directed at me or example100000?

Me? I play the market a bit. Nothing too drastic. I play on instinct and feel a lot, not the best way but you can actually get a basic feel for things out there in general if not specifically. I would have no problem gathering more facts to back up my argument but it was only my opinion based on miscellaneous observations and a few facts.

Here is a wiki or two I found though:

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_countries_by_GDP_(nominal)
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Economy_of_the_People's_Republic_of_China

One more opinion of mine:
It is not too late to invest in Chinese stocks. Chinese exports should continue to do well in the global market.

i guess china's economy is good because of how they could spend so much money on beijing olympics and shanghai expo? but u know what...china's still a developing country for a reason! (that reason being that it's economy isnt actually that good?)

There's a lot I could say about that, but I'll just keep it to two short points:
1) National economic strength is not necessarily an accurate measurement for overall quality of life. However economic performance may be a good indicator for the relative change in quality of life. For instance, American quality of life may have gone down a bit with its economy, but it is still far better than in many other countries (people still line up to buy iPads, eat out 3 times a week, etc).
2) In the case of China and events like Beijing Olympics and Shanghai Expo, the government is siphoning a lot of money for the sake of improving its image internationally; there are still a lot of impoverished Chinese who still live in substandard conditions (ie: very little of that money has gone to help them).

In Japan, the economy does have a link to why many girls turn to AV or escort services -- but not in the "because everyone is poor" way that you think. Most girls come from normal families with no significant economic hardships. Many still live at home, meaning they don't have to worry about food or rent. The reason they get involved in (pseudo-)prostitution is generally because they just want more money (though the specific details -- whether for shopping, traveling, paying for education, etc -- varies).

The reason they turn to prostitution is because most of them simply can't get jobs as OLs (their high school education isn't enough qualification). In turn, there is an oversaturation of these girls looking for low-level introductory jobs (convenience stores, fast food restaurants, etc), and it is impossible to give them all employment. So you end up with a large group of girls who don't have enough education to start a career, but can't even get a basic job either. Hence many of them turn to prostitution.

It might be a bit coarse to say "I want an iPod, so I'll whore myself out", but in general that's how it ends up since there is almost no other source of employment.

For some extra info, have a look at this interview on 2ch with an owner of one of these prostitution joints (English translation provided by Sankaku):

I would like to say about this article... it's the same type of answers I would give if asked about my experience in the US and UK... same thing, different location.

So it turns out this whole thread is a bit on the "old school" side. I was watching an old Japanese anime from 1998 and they were talking about high school escort girls. I mean the whole subject was kinda new to me but I feel a little silly discussing something that has been going on for over a decade in Japan. I did have fun with the subject though.

Discourse may not seem as enjoyable as intercourse to some but they both do pass the time nicely.

Lol, you posted the cover for the movie in the torrent for me.

It is in the TV anime episode Yu-Gi-Oh! epsode#2. (Which I take it was a kids program, lol. I have been enjoying every episode nonetheless).
