Ran into a couple of what looks like re-releases from Dogma of classic titles with box art displaying "AI Remastered Edition".

Looks like there's actually a whole host of them.

Anyone seen these and can attest to the quality? Wonder if it's any better than what members of this community can do...

Curious if anyone has seen this from other studios also.

This looks like a potential cash cow for publishers. Once the upscaling parameters are locked in it's probably trivial for them to knock these out in quantity on their existing video editing workstations.

In this case it's clearly marked as what it is with a unique code (AIDDT-). I'd be less enthusiastic about remasters that are stealth "re-issues" without stating the involvement of AI tools.

I had spotted these trickling in around this time last year. Like you I wonder if anyone has their hands on an original copy, but if you look at my post it includes official screenshots at least.

Oh thanks, that was valuable. The side-by-side was quite revealing. I'd much prefer to have the original of those in SD than what looks to me like blurry messiness in those particular upscales.

Of course this field is changing month by month so I expect quality to be constantly ramping up. Esthetic and technical choices as well as rendering time constraints obviously play a factor too.

Homebrew upscales I've seen range from god awful to very well handled. Do I expect porn studio staff to necessarily care any more than enthusiasts about production values? This is about eking a few extra yen out of what's probably viewed as a disposable commodity once it's passed peak sales. It's not exactly going into the Criterion collection... :D

There's software that will upscale satisfactorily, including Topaz and the one I use, Videoproc. Videoproc is relatively inexpensive. A lifetime license is only $45. The big but is whether you have a powerful graphics card. I bought an NVidia GTX 1660 and that is the minimum I would recommend. If you're a gamer you likely have a good card already. Don't expect miracles, but do expect a significant improvement that makes the JAV more enjoyable.
