Japanese with bad Teeth?

Throughout my years of viewing pics and vids on my spare time of appealing Japanese girls, I've noticed a lot of them have crocked and disfigured teeth and it's not to say that ALL Japanese girls are like that, but in general I've noticed it occurs a lot of times. Is dental care not a concern or is it just too expensive to even fix one's teeth in Japan? Does anybody else agree with me or am I just viewing the wrong pictures/videos here? :distressed:

And don't get me wrong, I love Japanese people and never wished to offend any of them with this topic. :dizzy:

I know you didn't mean any offense, but I did find it somewhat ironic that you used the term "jap" in the same sentence you said you meant no offense. Although, its possible I'm being too PC on the subject. Maybe "jap" is only a derogatory term in the US. :puzzled:

In regards to the teeth thing, I remember reading a Jlist mailing several years ago where the owner of Jlist talked about this. He said that the whole braces thing never really caught on in Japan like it did in places like the States, and that the culture actually viewed crooked teeth as charming, in some respects.

Granted, this was just something I read off an email a long time ago, so its possible that there may have been a move towards a change. But, like you said, its still pretty easy to find a JAV where an actress will have crooked teeth.

Every culture is going to have differing opinions on what makes a person beautiful. In Japan, perfectly aligned teeth is probably not very high up on the list.

Personally, I think things are way overdone in the US. Not only do you have to have perfect teeth, they have to be bleached to a pristine white, you have to be tanned, have a perfect ratio of body fat, have no visible scars, moles, or other markings, and you need to fill out your lips with fat from your ass. I'd rather have a real girl with dental imperfections than a girl who's half plastic.

@lowleg26
ahh...yes

my bads lol, I should have just said Japanese instead of "Jap" but I didn't bother to reread or type a lot in my 1st post so it came out as it is. However, what you said about how their badly aligned teeth may be favored in a cultural perspective sounds like a valid point as some may favor elongated lip rings in places such as Africa very beautiful? But in my opinion, this may be more than just culture and just something they don't care about or bother fixing due to cost issues.

cool post, thanks

"Yaeba dae ba doo!!!"

"In Japan, the "double-tooth" look caused by the front canines overlapping is considered cute in children and young women. The Japanese call it "yaeba" which means "double tooth"."

Here's a website dedcated to Yaeba girls....

http://yaebasuperstar.blog123.fc2.com/

Since us Westies aren't used to the double tooth look, I think Japan should un-mosaic all the vagina and penis action in their videos that they ship to other western countries since it is viewed as most acceptable outside of Japan.
They can then mosaic the mouths of the Japanese porn actresses since we find it so utterly wrong and it will make our fap (Fapanese?) time so much more enjoyable.

I too was wondering "why" and today I'm that much more educated.

What's even stranger is when you meet someone, they smile and you realize they have two rows of upper teeth. That threw me for a loop the first few times I saw it! I ended up asking one young couple if I could look in the wife's mouth... I ended up losing them as clients. Bugger damn.

Wikipedia appears to indicate that water is not flouridated in Japan... Japan is one of only a few countries at the <1% level on this map.

The positive effects of fluoridated water on dental health are well documented, and it seems silly a nation as developed as Japan would not being doing this...

Fluoridation... that's nothing but a commie plot to introduce a foreign substance into our precious bodily fluids without the knowledge of the individual. Certainly without any choice. That's the way your hard-core Commie works.

As for the teeth, on some girls I do rather find it cute, others maybe not so much. I almost would think it has more to do with mouth size than proper dental care, and as long as it doesn't cause problems there really isn't a pressing need to fix it.

Here's some added related news about why so many have bad teeth....

"Diet and Teeth
Tool-use no doubt helped early humans in butchering their dinners. But there is evidence that the advance to cooking and using knives and forks is leading to crooked teeth and facial dwarfing in humans.
Today it's relatively rare for someone to have perfectly straight teeth (without having been to the orthodontist). Our wisdom teeth don't have room to fit in the jaw and sometimes don't form at all, and the propensity to develop gum disease is on the increase.
"Virtually any mammalian jaw in the wild that you look at will be a perfect occlusion—a very nice Hollywood-style dentition," said Peter Lucas, the author of Dental Functional Morphology and a visiting professor at George Washington University in Washington, D.C. "But when it comes to humans, the ideal occlusion [the way teeth fit together] is virtually never seen. It's really the only body part that regularly needs attention and surgery."
Lucas argues that the mechanical process of chewing, combined with the physical properties of foods in the diet, will drive tooth, jaw, and body size, particularly in human evolution.
Essentially, by cooking our food, thereby making it softer, we no longer need teeth big enough to chow down on really tough particles. By using knives and forks to cut food into smaller pieces, we no longer need a large enough jaw to cram in big hunks of food.
"We're evolving to eat mush," said Bernard Wood, a paleoanthropologist at George Washington University."

Can't say I often find you amusing, Sir, however, this little quip just caused me to spray coffee all over my monitor. :spit:

It's still a hell of a lot of money considering Japan's economy.

Japanese children get regular fluoride treatments in elementary and middle school. Most younger Japanese people's teeth are quite healthy, even if not perfectly aligned. Also, as japgirl4 points out, dental care is dirt cheap and readily available in Japan. Despite Japan's macroeconomic woes, few of her citizens are so poor that orthodontic work is out of their reach and I've seen plenty of girls whose smiles have been mechanically or surgically perfected. That said, few Japanese people bother and orthodontic work seems like a low priority unless the malocclusion causes significant bite problems.

In any case, a J-girl can make overlapping teeth look seriously cute and a part of her charm, unlike her western counterparts who just look snaggletoothed and scary.

Sure, most American girls get their teeth straightened, but most American girls are fat, nasty and ugly. Who cares if an obese beast has thousands of dollars invested in her mouth? Who's going to notice? That perfect bite only serves to improve the efficiency with which she can empty the feed bag strapped onto her face.

Japanese girls work with what nature gave them and usually succeed admirably, while American girls often just try to fix themselves with (daddy's) money and usually fail.

Fluoridation only prevents holes, it doesn't prevent crooked teeth. If you see somebody with perfect lines of teeth, chances are they walked around with braces at some point. That's the big difference between Jap and Ami teeth, the widespread use (or no use) of braces. Though no doubt that's changing as the Japs have begun to warm up to cosmetic surgery and other physical improvements.

30% of 100,000 yen is still expensive in today's economy, especially in a culture when straight teeth isn't important to the general populace.

"We're evolving to eat mush," said Bernard Wood, a paleoanthropologist at George Washington University.

Stupid evolution. Although it does make sense; Being an isolated country that mostly depended on fish and vegetables for diet for hundreds of years, not to mention the use of chopsticks, which requires you to eat only small pieces at a time, it's no bloody wonder that they have weird teeth.

Strangely, on a similar note, Finland, the most northern country in the world, has relatively small number of people with misaligned teeth - mainly because we used to be hunter-gatherers for way longer than most people down south in warmer climates.

But seriously, who cares about misaligned teeth? Sure, they might not fit the American or European concept of beauty, but it's not like the face matters most.
The ass does. :bingo:
