Yes, It is true. It is very frustrating that you are in front of such beautiful women but the immersion is broken because the image is blurry. JAV VR needs to improve the image quality.

And japanese studios seem to be really strict about DRM and thats why often the content is Stream only and you dont find a legal download source.

I have spent more than 500 euros at A Festa VR in the last months only because they allow me to download the movie on the PC without DRM. I don't pay for streaming, it is smoke. And I don't want the store and my ISP register what, when and how much porn I watch every time I use it. They don't understand Porn is a private matter, I am not going to pay for streaming. This is not Netflix, even if they want to sell it like Netflix. I am not going to pirate it, but I want to download movies to the PC. If they don't want my money...

I've read some interesting posts on reddit from the guys who operate SLR (sexlikereal).

He was in this post some months ago, but he was not very well received. He wanted to give lessons to Japanese directors on how to make a VR movie. He said things like moving the camera away to see the whole body and other nonsense which is what western companies do, who have no idea how to shoot a movie in virtual reality.

Western companies film VR like standard porn with bigger screen. They put the women one or two meters away from the camera, they act like robots, without any setting, only scenes of the type "Hello, how are you, come here and let's fuck", where the girls do not touch the man and don't kiss... And they want to teach Japanese directors to film VR!!!! They have infected JAV with fake tits, please go away and don't infect JAV VR even more.

JAV VR is real, inmersive sex and it is wonderful, western VR is only standard porn with a screen on your eyes, they don't know anything about VR. I am european and 95% of VR porn I watch is JAV, because western VR is crap. And not only the filming. All that fake tits, piercings, tons of make-up, whore's clothes... I am afraid my VR tastes are very standard. I like full-nude scenes with face-to-face and camera very close, and they are in standard scenes. I like creative / unusual scenes too, the problem is most of the time they are filmed too far away (and they look blurry with the limited JAV VR image quality) or they use clothes, that I hate. So my alltime favorite scenes are very standard, with full-nude face-to-face sitting position and camera very close. Scenes where you "feel" the girls, this is the magic of VR.

One locker room film I enjoyed was an old movie: DSVR-383. But mostly because Honjou Suzu is so beautiful, and be inside the locker face to face with her, and she starts to undress.... oh my... I love JAV VR porn so much... Learn from this movie, SLR...

The irony is that you can find it free the same day, here at Akiba for example, and many others. I want to pay for it even if I can download for free, but it seems they don't want my money....

I mention this, not because I think you should buy it. But because I'm looking for RVR-036 VR - Crying Face. And I noticed they have the same purchase options and I'm wondering what I will get if I pay.

Does anyone know what the quality of the HQ Mobile Download is for VR content from r18.com? Is it full definition, preferably AT LEAST 4K. They don't really give much indication of what you'll get.

I'm not quite sure if your provider would care about your porn usage ;-) , but yeah downloading definitely makes sense, especially given the larger file sizes of VR Porn. Also i often get the feeling that streamed content doesnt give me the full quality as its seems to be more compressed.

Afesta is definitely the place to go for buying, although i find the r18.com more user friendly in some ways.

There is no dedicated JAV VR subreddit, i think i read it on oculusnsfw or their own forum. I wasnt aware that SLR guy was posting here too. Well, you are spot on with what you are saying about western VR porn, and if there is something the japanese have mastered its filming VR porn from the creative/content point of view, no need to take advice from western producers. I had subscriptions for two of the supposedly 'best' western studios (czechvr, virtual taboo) and also SLR, but canceled everything because i keep coming back to JAV because despite the low resolution (4k), pixels and language barrier it feels much more immerse.

I know the SLR guy gets a lot of hate, but the insights into the japanese production / VR markets were interesting. I also have to give him props that at least they are trying to innovate (making VR porn more accessible, planning to shoot 8k JAV). I know that they are just a small player in japan, but if they give the big studios at least a little bit of pressure to increase their visual quality and we could see KAVR, MDVR oder 3DSVR in 8k this year, i would be very happy ;-)

Talking about 8k: There is a company that is currently working on a camera shooting in VR180 8k@60fps, 12k@30fps. They have some 8k samples to download. Although they are just 30fps and its just a chinese girl eating candy and another one eating a crab it gives you a good feeling how 8k JAV could look like. On my quest2 the sample looks really good.

Thanks for the advice about the scenes. I have to say that i am looking for that special scenes because i am kinda bored of the same setting in JAV. Fortunately the japanese are very creative. I have to checkout that scene, although old 3DSVR scenes seem to be poor qualitywise (new scenes are pretty good).

R18 only allows downloading on a mobile, with DRM, and can only be viewed with the R18 app. But I use PC glasses (Samsung Odyssey Plus), so I need to download to a PC. So I can't buy at R18. And yes, streaming is much more blurry, specially if you don't live in Japan.

A Festa VR is the only store that allows you to download to your PC (or wherever you want) without DRM. I have bought 2 new movies today for 25 euros and I am not going to pirate them, they are earning money with downloads and without DRM. I prefer to pay more money for a download than less for the stupid streaming. The problem is that they don't sell all the titles, only the companies that allow to download without DRM...

Would be awesome if JAV VR companies release the new titles in 5K, 7K or 8K. But they can improve 4K too, There are 4K titles that look really good (AVER-001) and 4K titles that look like crap. But the main problem is the bitrate. There are new releases with a bitrate of 15, 16 Mbps... And some labels have been reducing it. For example CBIKMV, CRVR or KVR titles from 2018 and 2019 use a bitrate of 30 or 40 Mbps, and the 2020 and 2021 titles use 20 or 25 Mbps. It is very frustrating.

After years of mediocre releases, showing that they don't have any idea what VR is, at last JUVR (Madonna) has released a proper VR film, JUVR-094. With Full-nudes, camera very close, intimicy, close and face-to-face scenes... You feel your are with the woman, not watching a film like previous releases with the camera two meters away. Kaoru Natsuki is fantastic in this movie.

I hope some day we can watch a VR movie like this, but with Maki Hojo and Maki Tomoda...

I looked at reviews and they say the screendoor effect if significantly better compared to the first generation Quest, but I do still notice it. Is the screendoor effect a LOT better on the HP Reverb g2?

The JAV content used to be technically the best content around. But many producers are still recording and distributing 4K video files. With those files it's not the hardware that is causing the screen door, it's the content. They didn't record enough pixels for you to zoom in as close as the Quest 2 can support. I'm not sure which producers have upgraded their camera tech. But look for 8k content if possible. 7k is not bad either, but you have to be wary. I don't know if it's common in JAV but in US porn the producers will shoot 5k content and just use software to upscale it to 7 or 8k which doesn't add any more detail. As a test (although it might spoil you) try CzechVR it is the only producer that I know of that reportedly has an actual 8K camera setup. Virtual Taboo ships 7K content that looks amazing, but in reality is 5K upscaled. But don't grab their 5K content! They actually down sample their upscaled 7K content. So rather than getting the actual pixels shot you're getting twice scaled content... So just stick with their 7k content.

For now, I've given up on JAV content as most of the 4k content is unwatchable for me since I've seen 5k and 8k. I generally only grab very niche content that I can't get in the US market.

Hopefully someone can chime in with a list of JAV producers that have upgraded their camera tech to support AT LEAST 5K but ideally more...

With my Samsung Odyssey Plus I don't notice the screendoor effect, but they have an anti-screendoor technology. For what I know, Quest 2 don't have a lot of screendoor effect. Maybe it is because the resolution, as wares says. Try to download a real 8K or 7K CzetchVR file to compare. JAV VR image quality is so bad when you compare with western releases.

JAV VR companies need to know that VR is all about realism. With poor definition and poor bitrate the image is blurry and you lose the immersion.

The key to watch JAV VR with good definition is to use supersampling. You need to find a player with a supersampling option. It is why I use a PC, I can apply 400% of supersampling and transform a 4K into a 7 or 8K movie. With this I can watch JAV VR with good definition.

Another option is to use a sharpen option to increase the definition. Now I am using Virtual Home Theater, a player with an awesome sharpen option (there is a demo on Steam).

Another important question: ¿How do you see people in VR porn? Too big or too small? The movies are filmed with a fixed IPD (distance between the eyes) but probably your IPD is diferent, so you see the girls too small or too big (I see them like giants, most of the time). The solution is to use some options to increase or decrease the diameter of the image, or use the zoom in or out until you see people with real size. You need a player with all these options.

On PC players like Whirligig or Virtual Home Theater are the best. I don't know in Quest 2.

Adjusting these options, you can watch JAV VR with good quality and real size.

It was definitely the video resolution, as I tried out czechVR 8k video and it is much better. *sigh* I do like JAV girls tho , really wish the quality would be on par with this western stuff. On another note, I didn't know something like teledildonics existed until I went to CzechVR XD

I agree, VR is about the realism, it really takes you out of the immersion when the details are off. I'm waiting for a usb cable to arrive so I can tether the Quest 2 to my PC, maybe I'd be able to find supersampling option doing so.

I've been using DeoVR player which has some options to adjust zoom and other picture options, still trying to figure out what to set each slider at to make things look more proper. I've been finding peoples faces are being stretched with nose pulled forward and ears pulled back, and girls are also looking like giants as well

From what i read its not the issue that studios record in 4K only, its that DMM does not support content over 4k. As they are the main distributor in Japan, they set the standard in some ways. A few pages back Walle posted a 8k JAV Movie, but all the distirbutors downscaled it to 4k and there was no way getting the content in the original full 8k resolution.

So i am really hoping studios record already in the higher resolutions, so they could release them again once DMM or other distribution channels give them a way to publish their 8k content.

Ive been subscribing to CzechVR and Virtualtaboo as well and yes their content is visually very pleasing. But I still always come back to JAV because their content feels much more real overall, eventhough its only 4k. The content from western studios still cant keep up with the immersiveness of JAV. Resolution plays a big part in it, but having the right angles, proximity to the camera, good acting etc. all play in the make a scene feel 'real' to me. When the action is close to the camera, the resolution doesnt play a huge role in my opinion. But yes the 4k resolution is the biggest immersion killer in JAV VR for me personally (bigger than censoring and language barrier).
Recently I was looking into AI based upscaling. There is a software called 'Video Enhance AI by Topaz Labs' that uses machine learning / AI to upscale videos. The results are pretty amazing, at least for traditional 2d videos. It should be working on VR porn as well. Biggest downside right now is the computing power needed to this upscaling. Scaling up 1080p to 4k takes about 5 hours for 1minute of content.

Given that Oculus Link uses compression its best to stick with the standalone players. I tried supersampling on my Odyssey+ before and didnt noticed any difference (it shouldnt as its just upscaling the video).

You should check out the Pigasus VR player, as its the only player beside Oculus TV using the spherical timewarp layer (more info here https://www.facebook.com/permalink.php?story_fbid=1942692682631906&id=100006735798590 ) for rendering (has a settings toggle). This gives you the best image quality possible (only downside is that zooming is not possible due to technical restrictions). Also its AFAIK the only player supporting Samba shares, so its easy to Stream from your computer or NAS.

First VR movie of Otsushiro Sayaka, and another gem from S1 No1 Style, if you like intimate movies where you feel you are with the girl. Otsushiro Sayaka is so beautiful and shy, wonderful. Full-nude, face to face scenes, perfect.

If you think R18 player has troubles playing with an smartphone, you haven't seen the torture it is with PC glasses... The VR player is the browser (Edge, Chrome) and it is totally awful... The Dimension Player of A Festa VR is even worse, too...

They don't understand people need the drm-free movies not because they are unprotected, but because it is the only option to watch VR with acceptable image quality, using proper VR players...

Thanks for that info.. I'm new to this site and to VR... I've just recently bought a quest 2. I've tried skybox and DeoVR and get the same probs you've described... and also the girl having just 1 big eye in the middle of her face when she comes in close lol. I'll try the other players you've mentioned... I have quite a big collection of non-VR jav. If anyone wants to chat about favs etc give me a DM. Are we allowed to swap directly on this forum? or have we got to upload everything to filejoker so it can be downloaded?
