Chinami Itou is the typical "pretty" Japanese woman but her features are put together in about the most perfect way that type of face can be. Same with Maya Kawamura. And they're good performers. If they completely lacked skills, their videos would go straight into the recycle bin no matter how their hair was cut. My current fave, Riku Minato, is not the "hot" girl, though her face is right up my alley, there is an intensely power and joy as she leans into her performances. That's what gets you on my "Recommended" list; your physical appearance + how you get down between the sheets. Gotta be the total package.
Legit actress, Yuki Uchida, known for her boyish cut in the 90's, grew it out for a few years in the early 2000's and she looked like any "pretty" actress from central casting. Not bad but women like her, Michiko Kichise and recently, Ayame Gouriki have features that *pop* when they let us see more of their faces: those cheekbones, those eyes, that neckline...ooh, baby!
