I've been using both sites for years. I will definitely miss SLF because of the community. People were always friendly and helpful. I know it's the same here. The organisation of SL's main categories and sub categories are simple and thorough at the same time. How closely most posts stick to their thread topics in all threads in Fetish Fraternity (and other categories) shows the incredible dedication to the contributors and the moderators. A big loss to all.

Well, obviously there is a lot more to Scanlover than met my quick, non-roving eye. I did not peruse the links Malmal1 (a mostly inactive Akiba-Online member for over two years... hopefully we will be hearing more from him) presented above in any in-depth manner. I was drawn to speedly investigate the "Mature" link from above and noticed the few entries I clicked on seemed to offer photos only. I'm probably one of the biggest fans of "visual representation" on Akiba-Online, but I'd have preferred meat for the mind as well, discussions as to why a particular actress may be wonderful.

I then noticed a broader link on top of the page called "Mature Talk," and this was more like it. I just clicked on one of the offerings, called "The Yoko Ono Legacy," and I appreciated the depth. (Not that Yoko Ono has anything to do with porn; but I have recently learned there was/is a lot more to Ms. Ono than John Lennon, so I thought such an examination was admirable.)

I welcome the Scanlover members who are drifting to or re-awakening on Akiba-Online. Perhaps some of you who love Scanlover can get busy and "immediately" transport some of the more valuable information to this terrific forum before all is lost. See, not only would you have some reminder of why Scanlover meant so much to you, but you would also be performing a useful service to future generations (as long as Akiba-Online is around, anyway) of JAV-lovers.

I was thinking that several forum categories dedicated to images, like in SL, should be added to AO, but I have just discovered your media feature.

Perhaps creating a temporary forum section in A-O in which SLF refugees can "migrate" their media to, and then sort out at a later time may help with the immediacy issue of SLF shutting down.

actually I do not moderate it, I get posts in IRC and PM's and through reports, I do not moderate most sections I just deal with them

not sure if a lot of organisation is require, it is a case of getting used to how things are named, some things may not be able to be done, because of the way it is linked

and it may take a lot of downtime to sort to put it another way, and our own members will feel they have been left out to dry

I like it. The Gravure and JAV discussion groups are disjointed in their locations now, your proposal fixes this. Logically if someone joins who wants to talk about JAV, those related JAV topics should all be listed together. Also it should be a given this is an 18+ site, no need to actually group it as such like is done now as if there needs to be a kids friendly zone here, again your proposal fixes this.

To add my own suggestions, I'd place the active and popular discussion groups at the top since you want to foster that as I believe most users lurk and download and don't actually participate in discussions, this can help solve that. You can put the download groups (torrent/direct downloads) somewhere in the middle or towards the bottom as I imagine it's what gets the most clicks. Like a supermarket that sells milk, you can place it all the way in the back as people will seek it out and they'll go through the rest of the store in the process to find it, hopefully buying more things in the process (in our case it would be participating in the topics).

IMO the Skybox and Help & Guidance topics should be joined and placed at the bottom, while the topics in them are important, the topics covered aren't that active and really only people interested in forum issues or that need help will want to dig for help and click on them. Any really important board announcements should be announced by a banner at the top (like how SLF is announcing their closure) or by a message sent to the user's inbox as it can't be assumed everyone checks the announcements group every visit for announcements.

Lastly, I'd consider culling some of the less popular groups that don't relate to A-O's core audience of JAV/Gravure/Adult fans. You could then add topics that do related to this audience but which aren't currently represented as malmal1 has done with the Asian Angels grouping.

Change Asian Angels to Japanese Angels then (I agree with you anyways, don't dilute the images. Focus on Japanese AV/Gravure Idols).

Just that I saw AO had "Adult Discussion" in addition to "JAV Discussion", which seems to suggest that "Adult Discussion" is geared towards non Japanese erotica, so I thought you might want to cater for Asian, Non-Japanese images posts.

For me, again with all due respect, the front page categorizations has some redundancies and therefore might generates some confusion to new members. An example is the seeming redundancy between "JAV discussion", "Adult Discussion", "JAV Idol Club" and "JAV Idols" which at a glance seem to be 4 categories on the same topic.

I shortened this into 3 and put them in the same section:
1. JAV General Discussion
2. JAV Idol Specific Discussion
3. Non-JAV Adult Discussion

yes the problem with the discussion groups they was all linked, but when vB changed settings and the latest version at the time was not compatible with its previous version, and be came unstable, we switched boards, which caused its own problems, and we did not have the time to go into it, a lot of time is needed for a good sort

You could go to a forum category and see who has posted new images, but with media you have to know beforehand which member album to visit to see the updates.

Yup. This is what I meant. It's based on what's already here in AO and making the category name more descriptive and specific to its purpose.

Dropping by to say hi. SLF refugee also, using the same handle here. I already had an account here for a couple years and forgot about it. I guess wanted to see a torrent or something. I'm now at jphip too, which I think will the the place I'll be more active in since my posting/interest in SLF tended to be in the celeb/non-nude arena (particularly in non-Japanese). No idea what the adult section in jphip is like (don't have access to it at this point), so I'll probably be seeking JAV content here Unfortunately, I don't really ever have JAV content to post that isn't already there... so I'm guessing I'm going to end up lurking here. I'll try my hand at the discussion sections, I suppose.

BTW, is there a preference setting to reverse the order of posts in a thread to "newest to oldest"? I didn't see it, but I always miss a section of preferences in forums so wanted to double check haha
