WAKAYAMA – A 49-year-old man who allegedly incited another man to grope a woman on a train was arrested Tuesday in Wakayama Prefecture, police said.

Identifying himself as a woman named Yui on an online site for gropers and those seeking to be groped, Yoji Isegawa, a senior official at the Osaka Regional Taxation Bureau’s Kainan office, began posting messages asking “Is there anyone willing to grope me?” on April 23.

On his way to work on April 30, Isegawa spotted a 23-year-old woman from Kinokawa, Wakayama Prefecture, on the JR Wakayama Line around 7:15 a.m. who was commuting to her office from Kokawa Station.

He then posted several messages online, including her location on the train, a description of her clothing and the comment: “Come as soon as possible.”

Seeing the post, a 26-year-old man allegedly molested the woman, touching her thighs and stomach, police said. He was arrested at the scene but later released, reportedly because he claimed he thought the contact was consensual.

Isegawa, of Kinokawa, was charged with violating an anti-nuisance ordinance.

Turkey, Syria, Pakistan....the middle east in general. Islamic law is pretty tough on female rights, read a news article of a case where a fourteen year old girl in Pakistan was whipped to death for allowing her cousin to r*** her. Not as rare an incidence as you would think either.

On the lighter side: Molesting girls can be fun and apparently being molested from time to time is not that objectional either, which is how this happened in the first place. Chikan (groping) is a sexual fetish in Japan, (and across the world actually), and has its' "followers". So lighten up a little people, no need to hate on others peoples fun. This article is an interesting case of someone playing a prank to get his kicks and he got caught, nothing more.

ceewan, women's suffrage isn't exactly a cutright deal when it can also happen to men.

did you just intone that majority of the world is allowing molestations just for fun alone ? let's get one thing straight, it's one thing you have consenting adults do it, it's another if you don't. it ain't light hearted fun when someone doesn't want to be on the receiving end of it. chikan maybe a culture or so in japan but it's one culture that is more likely to be actively opposed compared to having junior idols there due to its offensive nature

Actually the subject matter can be found in many popular romance movies (as well as comedies). The theme of two strangers having sexual contact while standing in a crowd of people while riding a train, subway or even bus can be found in European movies (notably Italy but others as well) as well as American cinema. Of course the consequences of unwanted attention in such instances can also be found in movies. These are based on life and not merely fantasical whims of movie writers.

So all I am saying is there is no need to get so upset about it. A little casual groping to see if someone is interested in further caresses may be illegal or even immoral but it is what it is and won't stop just because we are offended by the concept. Sexual attraction is a strange and powerful magnetic force among us humans and its' effects can be found in the darnest places.

i'm not offended with the concept, i'm offended with the fact that it is is invading someone's privacy and you'd better be ready for any consequence. i certainly didn't regret humiliating that guy who groped me on my way to work a few years ago.
