Search doesn't work with Javascript disabled any more

It used to be possible to search even with Javascript disabled. Now it doesn't work any more.

Is there any chance of a fix? Maybe a low bandwidth theme that works without JS?

probably not.
you could try the black version, but this will have to be upgraded soon.
