we are experiencing some strange behaviour the last day.
seems like someone is hammering requests to us...
resulting in some failsave actions, that sometimes let's the site hang :/
(see the spikes till nearly zero)
That should not happen, but i'm not sure how to mitigate such requests hammering - especially since it's not from one IP

additionally ... sometime in the near future (some month) we have to change the server again - since we are using more and more storage; and i need to consolidate a few things to save money (running akiba isn't cheap - ask chompy, he's responsible for the money.

I did notice a significant increase in spam accounts the last 3 or 4 days, might be badly programmed spam bots making too many requests or might have nothing to do with it if that's only since yesterday the site has been acting up.

You guys did it again ...
Because of some random shitty user posting something that is against nr. 9 of "THE RULES" we have lost our best working frontend.
It will not come back online; I won't argue with them about something that is clearly shit and obviously CASM. I'm using their services for other services, and want to continue.
Let's see how the other providers will handle that request ...

tried to manually clean up the mess - way to many threads to manually check them
ergo: moved over 3000 Hentai-Manga Threads to the graveyard ... nice ...

update:
after the cleanup, the remaining uploader, did exactly the same!

-> upload to the hentai manga will be restricted to people with an upload tag!

If they are not able to use the correct forum, i don't care anymore.
Seems like the part is quite empty, if you remove the 2 power-uploads ... well ...

i've enabled the old frontend-servers;
we now have 2 with ... questionable uptime.

I've set up a new DNS-system, which checks every 30s for offline-servers and changes the DNS answers.
I had high hopes, that this will fix the unstable connections in EU. But as it looks like, this is currently not the case;
I'm going to monitor this.

totally rewrote the entire DNS-System.
we are now also checking for existing VPN-connections & we are return a random entry in your continent dataset.

If you are located on the continent "europe" you will get the EU servers; if you are in Asia, you will get the Asia servers;
if you are somewhere else, let's hope for Maxminds data and "choose nearest"

Please report any issues you may find.

we are going improving;

we probably need some systems in the home of the DMCA, africa and probably in oceania;
for oceania we don't have that much traffic, so I think asia should be fine;
