Flashget is a great download manager in general and I agree with shinta it is a good one. But for galleries, even some imageboards, and any other site that doesn't protect the access to its pictures and videos, there are better options. What you are looking for is a purpose built program. True flashget and other download managers have the capability but are not made to be as user friendly in this particular arena. To be honest it has been sometime since I used a "picgrabber", so I can only reccomend what I remember being useful.

HTTrack has been doing this a long time and gets an A+ on my list and it is free! Probably one of the best programs available. You can actually create a complete mirror of a site on your computer or just search for and download specific file types such as .jpg or .png.

I used nici before, I had a cracked version however, it is not freeware although it does offer a free trial period. Not my first choice but popular with some.

I haven't used this before but you might take a chance on it, it is freeware afterall.

I can't seem to find an active link to the one I used most often but free open source programs aren't as easy to find as they used to be, everyone is out to make a buck.
If I find anything else worth while I will post a link to it here.

Took me a minute to get my brain working, if you want the best opensource programs there is only one place to go, Sourceforge.net, here is what I found there,(though I haven't used any of these products):

thanks
but I have to admit my judgement of DownThemAll! was maybe a little too fast.
I found out how to use the batch-marker in the dTa!-Manager. That helped me out. It's not so bad after all.

httrack looks good.
