this report on crime trends compiled by the UN. Looking at the report "Sorted by Country", in 2002, the United States had about 32.99 reports of r*** per 100,000 people, while Japan had 1.85 reports per 100,000 people. Of course some people say as much as 90% of r*** in Japan goes unreported, which would raise the number of cases to 18.5 per 100,000 -- still less than in the US, which if you add in the 60% that experts believe are unreported in the US, would increase to 82 per 100,000.
