I just reported a post I saw in the Junior Idol Club for having inappropriate images (ie. nudity), only to realize that the image was the poster's signature.

In order to maintain the dissociation of the Junior Idol Club from pornagraphy, no nude images should be seen anywhere within the Junior Idol Club and it's subforums. This means that Akiba members that have nude images as avatars or signatures should not post in the Jr. Idol forums.

I know this idea may ruffle some feathers, but consider the following scenario - a member posts images of Erika, a 6 year old junior idol, and has a sexually explicit image as a signature. This conveys a bad message, and should be prevented.

Thank you for your consideration.

You've quite missed the point, Ceewan.

I, too, could care less.

However, I spoke out of concern for the board. In spite of how many years this board has existed and unharassed by authorities, that could quickly change. Someone may come to our board and see images of young children modeling beside sexually explicit images and make an association (whether wrong or right) that we would rather not they made.

Images of children and sexually explicit images should not appear side by side on the same web page. It sends a bad message.

----- edit -----

Perhaps this thread could be moved to 'Jr. Idol Club'/'Moral Support and Debates'.

No...I don't think I missed the point at all. More than 90% of what is shared at this board is in the porn sections. Some of the visitors that come here have voiced the opinion that the U15 section doesnt belong here and have asked that it be removed. Not my opinion, I am not guessing about it, members here at akiba-online have even quit over it. There are many threads here in the discussion threads to back this claim up if you care to look for them.

You cant have your cake and eat it too, (ask.yahoo.com/20060511.html). Either you are okay with U15 section and the porn sections being on the same board or your not. If you are okay with it then you cant punish someone who visits both sections of the forum by placing special restrictions on them. Many of the posters in the direct download sections, (including Exclusive Uploaders), also post links in their signatures to their blogs that contain porn and U15 material. That has been going on for sometime now and the posting of links in the signatures has already been greenlighted by chompy himself. Signature pictures and/or avatars containing Japanese porn are also within the rules. The way I see it your complaint doesn't have a leg to stand on.

I suppose you could have used the report button instead of posting it here but I bet you would have gotten a similar answer, if you got one at all. Instead you posted it here and I dont expect your complaint to get a lot of support from the general forum. So I said what I said and meant what I said and that is all there is to that.

The fact that you can find both hardcore porn (and I really mean hardcore) and underaged models posing in bikini in the same website (but not in the same page) makes your statement kinda amusing.

I'm pretty sure that your signature would be much misinterpreted in adult message boards which don't deal with Jr Idols.

I see two solutions:

We make the U15/Jr sections a completely separate place, and block access to a list of approved users (read a ghetto). It's already blocked for non-members.

We can also forbid to use hardcore pictures for avatars/signatures. But that means a tedious effort to clean the existing ones, and track the new ones.

It's up to the admins to select one option, or leave the things as they are.

I say let ban pictures of jr idols as avatars and in signatures,at least those that look like little kids. Because it could send the massage that this board condones pedophilia if that person posts in a section that has nothing to do with jr idols, regular idiols section and real porn section. So if the avatars and signatures have pictures of little kids in them then they should be banned so that visitors do not think this board condones pedophilia:joker:

The reasoning behind your post is 100% correct.

Kudos to you, sir.

Isn't your avatar and signature pics jr idols that are little kids? The pics in your avatar and signature sends more of that message than say someone with a pictures of a nude JAV acrtress as their avatar or signature pics posting in the U-15 section.

I'm glad that this double edge sword has clearly show to you rubiks6 and others that the topic is not an easy one to deal with as it cuts both ways. Besides I'm not going to change my avatar or signature just because I post in the Jr section. Just as you shouldn't have to change yours when you post outside of the Jr section. The beauty of limited freedom to choose is protecting the rights of the minority.

You can always go into your control panel and turn off avas/sigs -- that way you never have to see them, except when you choose to (by clicking an individual member's profile). I do that anyway just to keep my forum reading experience uncluttered.

Although dissociation is admirable, it's it to trying to clean up a sea of piss. There are hundreds of Japanese adult sites (publicly accessible) that frequently feature ads to and pictures from JI content publishers. Trying to maintain a clean separation on AO doesn't really change whatever impression people may already have about JI content.

In the end, you have to ask: do we want the JIC to be completely clean because of maintaining some sort of "legitimate" public image (despite the fact that hundreds of other sites already mix adult and JI content together; and that the JIC can't even be publicly accessed without first being an AO member); or is it to keep a few members from being offended?

In my opinion, most of the general public would already consider JI content "bad", and the presence of adult material next to it doesn't really make it any worse (to them, its not about where JI content is found, but that it exists in the first place). Since the JIC already stupilates a relatively narrow criteria for what's allowed and what isn't, they're nothing but personal opinions. The content in the JIC is legal, and the occasional odd adult image in the JIC doesn't somehow make it less legal.

stupilates

Defeinition: Verb; To stupilate. To lay down as a condition of an agreement a completely inept and useless condition or requirement.

In a sentence:
They had to remove a number of stupilations before we agreed to discuss the contract.

Thank you for my word of the day guy and I hope nobody blocks your avatar.

One can generalize on the fact that if it's legal in Japan, it's tolerated outside Japan, including here (picture kinda related ).

If I may join in...

I won't call any names here, but I just wanted to mention I always prefered this community to others, simply because it isn't necessary to "play a role" here to an extend that is outright ridiculous as in other places without resorting to virus ridden backdoor boards. I understand members live in different places, some of which are oppressed in their expression and mind by their authorities such as the US regime and feel obliged to act according to their masters' will in fear of prosecution.

Nevertheless I appreciated the open and tolerant atmosphere up to this point.

But recently I can't help but recognize the increasing amount of "whiteknighting" on here and while I still hold this community high in value for aquiring content, I start to fear about the general consensus, especially concerning the JI partition of the site.

I think we're all adults here and I respect others opinions, but I personally refuse to hide behind that "cute" bullshit and I would rather prefer disappearing into the background to once more become one of those "invisible members" who just come here to silently leech content, instead of conforming to unjustified and basically unnecessarily silly rules which are an indirect product of the mind forming facility in which some of our members reside. It's 2011. We all know why we're here. There is no reason to hide your intentions, just as their isn't to pretend you're here because you like that nice light blue background...:innocence: Just keep it nice and low profile. :joker:

That being said, statements like
This conveys a bad message, and should be prevented.
are holding next to no credibility in itself, as 90% of the content on this site would undeniably "convey a bad message" to most people. And while I understand rubiks6's concern, I see no valid point in dictating members signature.

As elgringo14 already mentioned, Japan is more open (not only in terms of sexuality) and everyone who has come across a Japanese site with JI content will occasionally observe it next to hardcore porn. Just as a reminder... JIs used to be naked until the law changes in 1999 under heavy force of the west and would most likely still be today if they didn't interfere. And if I remember correctly, the JI section on Scanlover has moved because of that exact reason and as of now I'm satisfied on how stuff works. So why bother poking everyone?

Short version: Less white knight please :punch:
