I just noticed for the first time a JAV idol born in the 21st century.

Are there others? Is she the first? Assuming legal age is 18 years old, theoretically we could have a millennial born on 2000-01-01 debut on 2018-01-02. Not that I was thinking about it until I got a bunch of AV idol bios in Excel and hey... this one sticks out in the column.

Yeah some studios try to fool us. A good exemple I have is Ito Mao. She seems to be 26 but I saw few days ago a movie from another studio (who likes to use other names for current actresses) saying she was 32 I think. LOL

There are many 18 years old girls in western porn so they are probably not that rare in JAV (I remember Lexi Belle, Mia Malkova). Mana Sakura was in college and people find out about it. Mao Sena retired from JAV to go to university.

While I think when a girl decides to do porn, there is a reason (quick cash, want to be seen as a "star" with fans), I don't think the popular girls in big studios are fucked up girls (Julia, Rion, Yua Mikami, ...). You can see them as "cheap" but let me say that I have more respect for them than the girls who fuck the first guy they met in a club directly in the toilets. And, the fucked up girls in AV are probably the one who are willing to be slapped, forced to vomit and brutalized like Hana Kano and do real scat stuff.

Current in Japan, 18 is not the age to be considered legally as adult. 20 is. To act in AV, a girl needs to get a legal guardian to sign the contract with her for the agency and studio.

I think everyone in this thread except @skfan has been on AO for a while and share some baseline knowledge (and manner). Yes we know it's marketing, we know nothing can be fully trusted. I am a tits-fanatic and know that most measurements (almost everyone is 88-58-85, on average, according to data I have collected) and cup size can be pretty blatant fabrication. But like I said, even unreliable/fabricated data is still interesting/meaningful to discuss. For example, I think maybe the data will prove that AV performers debut before 2016 have more variety in B-W-H measurements.

Given 18- or 19- yo needs legal guardian consent, yes it's extremely unlikely a parent would agree to sign. OTOH, if the data is only marketing, we actually don't need a legal signature. We need (1) a girl who is 20+ but look young enough, (2) market demand. We are almost half way into 2018, and there's only ONE 21st century born performer, it must be a combination of lack of young recruit and market demand.

Oh another data-provable trend is (I'm pretty sure) that AV debutants are getting older. Again I think it's combination of decreasing number of younger recruits and market demand. My guess is market demand is much more important.

I meekly suggest you might have misled slightly the "lots of girls"... Yes... perhaps there are thousands of young girls living away from parents, but I think "lots" could be misleading. I think the percentage is much lower than in the Western world. Like someone mentioned, most girls are still in high school at most junior years in university or colleges.

But... thanks to @darksider59 suggestion, I already check by a similar method ( http://www.minnano-av.com/actress_list.php?birthday=2000 missing the month and date) indeed the website returns a list, at first I got excited. (not that I'm a dirty old men, just excited about the fruit of research ). But when you look, a few of them have 0 vids. And those that has 1 or more, are all IV, image vids, I guess some has nudity, but seems a lot of them are non-nude IV (which makes sense). Anyway... as far as I can tell, there is only 1 AV (with mosaic-ed sex) released so far that stars someone born after 2000-1-1, that's the STAR-927 in the OP.

You made a very good point ekop, newcomers are not innocent girls without any experience who suddenly fuck in front of the camera.
