I have never seen a Japanese love doll on eBay, but maybe I'm looking in the wrong place?
American REAL DOLLS sometimes..but no Japanese teens or kid dolls.
Ya, there are some on ebay every now and then. Also auctions.yahoo.co.jp. Also, often people will post offers on the doll forum first, and then if an agreement is reached, they will carry out the transaction via ebay.

I don't think the dolls are meant for folks who would otherwise just go get a prostitute. Maybe they're meant for guys who are so shy or mental or deformed that even a prostitute wouldn't work out for them. I know that may not immediately spring to mind, but even mentally deficient or deformed guys probably want a sex life of some sort. That's just human nature, no matter who you are or what you look like. And of course there's the market for guys who want their partner to be smaller or younger looking than what a prostitute would be able to fulfill. It's apparently not for guys who don't have money since many of these dolls are rather expensive. Having watched some of the documentaries on sex dolls, it's kind of sad to see who buys them. Some of those guys are just obviously off the deep end, but others seem like they may have just had tough life that prevented them from learning the necessary social skills and ended up without anyone to love. Regardless of the fact that I have no interest in dolls I still think they serve a useful and welcome purpose. Helping people who can't get a girl find some sort of release for the sexual frustration is a good thing, especially in the case of guys who might otherwise target minors. Maybe some day someone will perform a survey to see if dolls help or hurt the customers who buy them.

Evil Kitten, to be sure, that is probably the major market. (Although in Japan, as in the U.S., there are "sex worker volunteers" who cater specifically to people with disabilities.) But speaking as a guy who is not shy and has never had trouble, well, "hooking up" (on the contrary, my difficulty has always been remaining faithful to one woman :battered:), I have to say even I am strangely drawn to these dolls, and, yeah, if I had loads of money and didn't have to worry about the social and personal implications if it became known, I would buy one in a heartbeat. :dunno:

Seriously, setting aside cost and the potential humiliation of exposure, if you were given a choice between your old friend...
Goltzius%27s_right_Hand.jpg

...and this...
meg_13_l.jpg

...would you really stick with your old friend? :snicker:

EDIT: Wow! I just noticed that Orient Industry has a discount for people with disabilities! Doesn't help me, but, hey, you never know when disability will strike, right?

I hadn't bothered to read the FAQ. That is hilarious. I'm trying to think of a better translation for 東京名器物語. How about "A Tale of Terrific Tokyo Tail"? :evillaugh:

I wonder if they allow "BYOH" ("bring your own hole")? :virtuous:

I have never paid for sex (honestly), but I just did a quick Internet search for brothels "fashion health" services in the same Fukuoka area. Here's a comparison of silicon versus real flesh:
Code:
[B]Time[/B] [B]Doll[/B] [B]Human[/B]
30 min. 8800
40 min. 11,800
50 min. 14,800
60 min. 10,000 17,800
90 min. 12,000 28,000
120 min. 15,000 35,000
All night 30,000
Which is the better bargain? I suppose it's subjective. :hurry:
I couldn't think of a better translation so I made a lousy word to word translation. Your translation is just perfect as always.:bow-pray:

Neither have I paid for sex so I really don't know how much it costs. As far as I know those fees are only for normal services and customers have to pay extra for "additional" services.:snicker:

If I'd have to choose, I would go to real ones but spending one night with a lolita doll also sounds tempting only if she doesn't have a spirit. :shiver:

Oh my god, Daredemonai, this doll is so unbelievable beautiful. :inlove: I´ve never heard about those dolls before. I should stop following this thread before I get crazy...

Can you tell me the price of such a doll? Though I´m pretty sure that I can´t afford it :dunno:
Heh, heh, heh. :perfectplan: You see what I mean? You start looking at these things and thinking, "Hmm... I wonder...." :hypno:

That particular model--with that face, body, wig, and <ehem> "hole" configuration, and nothing else--costs a mere 583,000 yen (about U.S. $6500), including shipping within Japan. If you want lubricant, clothes, wig-care set, shoes, stand, pubic hair, etc., those are all extra. :goodboy:

$6500 is about 4500€, right? As I said, I can´t afford it (is there a smilie for "I´m so sad that I´m going to commit suicide"?)

:XD: To be precise, it's about 4428€ at the current exchange rate. Yes, it would be cheaper to buy a round-trip ticket to Japan and spend a night in a "love doll brothel." :ridiculed:

If it were me I'd have to go with one or both of the Trottla models,(I could of swore they had another model out, a larger one, but I didn't see it on the website). But I don't think doll ownership would be all about the sex either. I see it more as a silent companion type thing, (kinda like in the movie "Lonely Guy" with Steve Martin). Sad? maybe, but you could always keep her in a closet when company is around or find some way to disguise her as a work of art with costumes and adornments. There are people in the world without close friends yet many acquaintances. People who live and work in the real world but have limited connections to it. I think the Japanese understand this type of issue and its' problems, I am constantly amazed at the open minded stances they take on what are normally taboo topics and solutions. So investing time and money in an ageless and agreeable companion doesn't seem all that far fetched.

There are some important things to take into consideration however. If you have a cat, (can you say scratching post?!?!), or a dog,(very expensive chew toy!), it would be a bad idea to keep a doll as well. If relatives visit that have kids a closet with a lock on it might be a necessity,(some toys kids shouldn't play with). Window blinds, and if you have a yard, a tall privacy fence are a good idea,(snooping neighbors might think that is a real person or worse, they might not!).

No, things aren't that different in Japan. If I would be caught buying a doll by the neighbors, I would immediately have to start looking for a place to live in elsewhere. If it was the co-workers, I would have to look for another job. Japanese people are very narrow-minded, I should say.

Regarding keeping a doll in the closet, see this pic::petrfied:

:spit: Trottla!? Well, if you really want to test the limits of the laws of your land, go for it. But I'll say one thing for that guy: that doll he's making now (with the charming name "PBA-807Le") is eerily realistic.
IMG_7870a.jpg

Me, I've spent the last two hours looking at LifeDoll, Silicone Art, and Honey Dolls, and thinking very dangerous thoughts, financially. :victim:

Maybe just Honey Doll's "Aki Honey Flavor" head? A "functional" mouth and "only" 84,000 yen...?

No-o-o-o!!! That's still more than $900 for a bodyless head!! :donotwant:

And then there's Make Pure's 120cm and 100cm "compact" and "mini" dolls, which are tempting for their price and, well, "compactness," as well as overall quality. And the "womanly" proportions would present a quandary for zealous law-enforcement agents. But I'd feel like I was making love with either a very well-proportioned Little Person, or a hobbit! :distressed:

No. They are just bound to education, moralty and culture.
The most annoying thing with Japanese people is they have a different notion regarding privacy. They lack westerners' "it's none of my business" notions and respect for other people's privacy. They generally like poking their noses into others' affairs. You can't expect them to leave you alone. They often intrude upon your privacy without knowing what they are dealing with. How can you expect such people to be tolerant with your sexual "twists"? I have met very few truly liberal-minded people here regardless of their education.

I think nowadays in the big buildings in the centre of big townships with a lot of apartments you´ll have more privacy today - and more anonymity. Hardly anyone knows each other, lots of them in single apartments though. And perhaps too much anonymity with lack of social contacts. Neighbors change too fast and too often, hardly anyone would notice quickly if you committed suicide.

But the more you´ll leave the centre of a township and the buildings become smaller, as well mainly in the countryside, the room for privacy becomes smaller and smaller, people know each other (well) and you hardly will be able to keep your "secrets" on your own.

The only generalization I can make about the Japanese is that you can't generalize about them. Or Americans. Or French. Or Germans. Or Koreans. etc., etc., etc.

But you can generalize about Canadians. Those Canadians are all the same. :snicker:

Seriously, one thing you can say about Japan is that, when it comes to sexual matters, there is no religious baggage. Not that there isn't prejudice, as buttobi pointed out. It's just that the prejudice is more along the lines of, "I don't mind homos, as long as they're on the television and not in my family or workplace." :dunno: Same thing with "lolicon": it is laughed off as an abstract concept, but when comes down to the guy next door, that's a very different matter.

Also, generally speaking, Japanese differentiate between fantasy and reality, which is why representations (in anime, manga, games--and life-sized dolls) that many non-Japanese find shocking are not seen as such a big deal by most Japanese. Americans tend to think that fantasy can easily lead to dangerous or anti-social behavior in real life. I'm pretty sure that difference is rooted in religion. Westerners always have that one, big God watching over not just what they do, but what they think. (He has a lot of time on his hands, apparently.)

Anyway, I just wish there was a high-quality love doll that could be magically compressed to fit in a shoebox and cost less than 50,000 yen. :evillaugh:

I must raise an objection to your view here. Sex anime, manga, games and dolls will be seen as a big deal by most of the Japanese that actually read, see and watch them. The fact is most Japanese have never seen them firsthand.

Outsiders may tend to get an impression from the media that they are being accepted in Japan. But it's not true. The media make everything ten times bigger than it really is. It's a very small proportion of the population that know about JI, Anime, manga and life-sized dolls etc. Ask one hundred Japanese people if they know Rika NISHIMURA or Miho KANEKO, if they've ever played loli-games and read loli-manga, and only a couple of them will say yes.

Regarding sexual media (anime/manga/toys), I would wager that most Japanese know they exist, but as buttobi says most probably haven't actually seen any of it firsthand.

Still, that little knowledge can go a long way to help curb any "shock" that they might otherwise have once they actually see it for themselves.

The difference between fantasy and reality isn't so much about "porn is real, anime/manga is drawn". It goes back to tatemae and honne. You are free to think and behave however you want in private (honne), so long as you don't go around misbehaving in public (tatemae). Despite the proliferation of hentai anime/manga/omocha, so long as the people who consume those goods aren't being a nuisance to society, most people will tolerate those people, even if they fully object to the content.

From my point of view, the thing is simply that the society of Japan has not developed mature enough to make an issue of and handle these privacy and human rights-related things. CP, anime/manga, games, dolls and JI modeling have proliferated in Japan not because people have understanding and tolerance or there is some sort of cultural background that supports the concepts but only because people have been ignorant of and indifferent to the possible problems these things present to the entire society. IMO, believing that this "culture" has developed because of their "nationality" is not so different than believing the "culture" of child prostitution has developed in a SE Asian country because of their "nationality".

Everyone is making valid points, but we're going off topic again and drifting once again into potential flame-war territory.

I'm just saying. :exhausted:

Let's talk about life-sized dolls. Does anyone here actually own a high-quality "love doll"? Shinta?

We are not getting off topic. The subject is doll-related.

On a life-sized doll thread are we all supposed to talk only about dolls? That will be rather weird. :dies:

IMO, there's no need to try to control threads in discussion sections. That will invite unnecessary intervention by mods. Getting off topic will be fine, too. We are not attending conferences or seminars, you know? Unless we adopt K15 system. :evillaugh:
