SOD is releasing a lot of VRs this year, but very mediocre ones. Short, overdressed, boring, and nothing remarkable.
Last year they released a series called VR Channel for their exclusive SOD Stars girls, and the first one, VR Channel 001 with the wonderful Nishimoto Meisa, is one of the best VRs ever: 3 hours long, all kinds of positions and situations... a masterpiece:
More than a year later, today they have release VR Channel 002, with another exclusive girl, Momona Koibuchi.
It is the same style as the previous one: three hours long, many situations, etc. But in my opinion, much more mediocre to the point that I will not buy it at A Festa VR.
It has everything I don't like about JAV VR: Oil, the bunny girl nonsense, bathroom sex, lots of touching and toys but very little sex, and above all, no face-to-face missionary.
Even the great director Yazawa Receives has dropped in level this year.... A real pity, because we probably won't see a VR Channel 003 again until next year...

You can buy it at A Festa VR, you can download the movie without DMR. You need to buy points with a credit card, then use the points to buy the movie. Trusted store, I have bought more than 200 VR movies there. Credit card charges have a neutral name.
Exactly what I think. All curvy girls get oiled. Almost 100% of the sex scenes in all VR movies. It's something I don't understand, and I hate it.

And no missionary, I don't understand...Your thread has convinced me to migrate away from 2d porn and enter the unexplored realm of 3d. Been deliberating for a few months now; will be purchasing a Quest in the near future, possibly this year or next. The Quest 3 looks promising, so will hold out until it's been on the market for long enough to get a general consensus on its performance.
Have a couple gripes with 2d JAV. Gratuitous shots of the male actor's ass(hole), excessive male moaning (a major gripe in 2D POV - don't understand why they make noise! Is the goal not to be immersed?), overweight guys whose stomachs cover the penetration/guys who simply overpower the scene for whatever reason - most of my gripes revolve around the male talent. Have listened to numerous VR titles now and have yet to hear the guy breathing or moaning - fantastic. The focus on the female performers is sublime. Heavenly.
Prefer to have a complete movie as opposed to just a single desirable scene from an otherwise mediocre release, thus have just 9 full VR releases. Not enough to justify purchasing a VR headset just yet (if money wasn't an issue that wouldn't be a concern, ROI) - but a great start. Have gone through each studio's VR catalogue and am generally satisfied with the direction VR has taken. SODVR, WAVR and NHVR are my current favourites. Thank you for this thread of yours. The time is coming for me to move onto greener, more pleasurable pastures. Onwards!

The logical step is to move onto 3D, it seems. Dabbled in gravure briefly, then moved onto 2D JAV - the final destination is 3D.
Yes, I was unsure of whether certain positions would bother me in VR, such as looking down and seeing the male's stomach and legs, but I doubt it will be an issue. Can't get rid of the actor entirely, haha.
Have never tried VR before, no. VR JAV will be my introduction to the platform - very excited.
In 2D JAV there are many positions I dislike. I lean more toward acts like cowgirl as they are high-impact positions that I find arousing - all focus on the woman, unless the guy is moaning loudly. With VR I can already tell that even just the woman being in primary focus, without any high-energy action, is going to be very erotic. It unlocks the full spectrum of stimulation that I perhaps was not getting from traditional porn.
That is the dream, haha. I'm very much a quality over quantity man. My 2D JAV collection has already dwindled to the point where only a few titles remain - that will hold me until I plunge into VR. Looking at what VR offers and what 2D offers is a little jarring - 2D looks archaic now, though still somewhat effective. Been watching 2D for three years - you've been living the high life in the meantime, haha.
VR definitely has utility. I believe that you use the Samsung Odyssey Plus - discontinued, so would have to scour the used market. Not picky - whichever I can get my hands on, whichever has the lowest barrier to entry. Will most likely be the Quest. Lead a frugal lifestyle, so the purchase will not be rash.

Was going to attach the cover images for each, but would have made the post unnecessarily long. I lean more toward videos with 2 or more performers, barring the first with Akari Mitani. I'm fond of round rumps and spirited performers, so these are the titles I have curated thus far. There were many other titles that had at least one desirable scene, though as I prefer a complete package I ended up removing them.
Once accustomed to the experience I may delve into videos with just one performer. The intimate nature may be stimulating enough, to the point where I no longer always need high-octane action - most performers tend to lean toward softer performances after all.
There are some performers that I hope will have a VR release in the future, such as MINAMO from SOD (though she has fake boobs so may not be your cup of tea, haha - I generally prefer real boobs, though not fussy unless they look horrendous).

About the glasses, yes, I have an old Oddysey Plus glasses, which are no longer sold. I prefer PC glasses because you can add all the supersampling you want to improve the definition, depending on the power of the graphics card. It looks a little sharper than with the Quest 2. But it's true that for porn the Quest are more comfortable, because they don't have cables.
The Quest 3 will be announced on June 1st, but it seems that they will be a bit more expensive than the Quest 2, although smaller and with better image quality. The Quest 2s are good to start with, and when the Quest 3s are released, you will see a lot of cheap second hand Quest 2s.
There are some good titles on that list you posted. I see you like trios and harems. I'm more of a single girl. So many people together is distracting....

If anyone wants to up the experience after VR the next step would be a automated sex toy like the Handy. There are a few sites where people create "scripts" for certain videos that imitate the actions of the actress for a truly hands free experience. It's pretty crazy tech. There are also a lot of experiments with pass through using vr headsets to let you see your surroundings. Think about it like you are in your bedroom or living room but the actress is also there, I have a Quest 2 so its just black and white but Quest 3 will be able to do color. Pretty exciting things coming to VR.
Yes, the Handy and other toys add another layer of even more realistic experience. I have the Lovense Max 2 and the best thing is the vibration. And what you say, that it's not your hand....
The passthrough personally I don't like it, I don't like to watch my boring bedroom or living room with a pornstar on top of it, for me it's not realistic because I know that's not true. Plus it forces you to use very specific angles so that the girl's perspective matches the perspective you are looking at. I prefer VR, not augmented reality. Yes! That is what I desire, haha. I have a vague idea of what VR may feel like, but I'm still having a little trouble truly visualising the experience. The girls are still relatively distant when watching the VR video without a headset - to think that they'll be so very close to me makes my heart beat just that much faster. I have no qualms leaving behind 2D for good - VR releases aren't as frequent (I believe a stat in this thread was something like 2,000 releases a year compared to <10,000 releases for regular JAV. Quality over quantity, however. Not as overwhelming). Have you completely left the world of 2D?I went through the thread a week ago which is where I found a couple titles to start off with. Seeing as my laptop is not the most powerful (i5-1135G7 @ 2.40GHz, 16GB Ram, Intel Iris XE) and many VR videos I have played have noticeable frame lag, it would be best to get a Quest and take advantage of the device's large storage (the larger the better) and use it wirelessly. That is my understanding, at this point in time. The Oculus does have the option of wires though - I assume you can use it both tethered and wireless if you wish? I'll do further research. If just wireless, I assume that the power of the device is more than enough to run the videos smoothly.
The compact form factor is appealing with the 3rd iteration. Also uses pancake lenses, though still unfamiliar with the tech in VR. Either 2 or 3 - I won't be upset either way. Whichever I can get my hands on.

That happened to me, I had seen VR on a flat screen and thought that with glasses it would be the same, but with some screens on the eyes. But it's completely different. As I say, what left me in shock is to see the girls in real size, and much closer than what you see in VR videos on a flat screen.
It's the same distance as in real life, when you're with a girl. If she's kissing you, she's right next to you, or in a face-to-face scene like a cowgirl or a missionary, she's inches away from you... This is something impossible to experience on a 2D screen.

And, this is true, it also happens to more people and we've discussed it here, you feel a bit of jealousy and discomfort when you see them in other 2D movies with other guys...
I haven't watched some 2D movies with some of my favorite actresses because it makes me angry to see them with another guy instead of with me in VR, that's 100% true....
Yes, it is not powerful enough to add supersampling to a 4K or 8K video. You should use the Quest or Pico 4. They have less sharpness than PC VR with supersampling, but it is OK.
Quest 3 will be smaller, that's a plus. Pancake lenses do not affect video, only 3D gaming. But they will have more screen resolution. They will be better than Quest 2, but also more expensive. Video only, you may be better off with Quest 2, depending on the price difference.
You can use cable or wireless mode but that's only when you connect them to a PC. To watch movies in VR they work with the processor and memory of the glasses themselves, no cable is needed.

Knowing their names is definitely a step in the direction to enjoying the medium more I'd say. Prefer to have an "active" involvement in this hobby, as opposed to just using whatever material I come across. Curation.

Got it. The Quest 2 has max 256GB - the Quest 3 (speculated) 256GB-512GB. My laptop has enough storage, so I can swap out videos whenever I desire. No issue. I will always prefer the economical option, and am conscious of ROI. If the improvements for the Quest 3 are marginal compared to the price, I'll opt for the 2. Raring to go.

I am not sure if they will announce the Quest 3, as its just Metas Gaming Showcase. They might teaser it though.
With the Quest devices using a player on the device is the way to go as streaming from the PC (whether wireless or wired) does have compression.
The XR2 chip from the Quest2 is powerful enough to play 8k videos without any problems, the chip from the Quest 3 is supposed to be even faster.
When you get a Quest2/3 you should definitely look into HereSphere (https://heresphere.itch.io/heresphere-vr-video-player-quest-2). Its mentioned a couple of times in this thread and this player does enhance immersion a lot.
Actually my suggestion would be to go with the cheapest (smallest storage) model. While it may sound like a good idea to play the files directly from the device, most people don't do that for two reasons:
1)VR videos are huge and transfering (at least to the Quest 2) does take a lot of time, the internal memory is not really fast.
2)Even the storage of the bigger models is filled up really quickly as VR videos are very large in size (also most people do have at least some games installed)
What most people do is to stream (your files) from your computer (or even better from your NAS if you have one). Its much faster, easy to set up (Samba network shares or DLNA) and does have some nice medialibrary options like XBVR for the advanced users with a lot of movies.
That way the only limitation is the hard drive of your computer (you could easily expand that with a cheap external drive).
VR porn is a great experience for sure and especially JAV VR is so much ahead compared to western VR porn, but unfortunately the relatively low resolution is an issue. You might think that 4k is more than sharp enough, but keep in mind that you are watching the video with the display only centimeters in front of your eyes, to the image will a lot less sharp than what you see on your computer screen. So many times I was excited with a video and it looked great on the computer, but when watching it on the VR headset the image quality destroyed that experience (unfortunately NHVR often got terrible visual quality).I'm expecting it to be rather overwhelming
FANZA has been teasering an 8k video which is a big improvement but no release so far (reasons for that still unknown).
I think one major difference between 2D and 3D is that, because it will feel so much more realistic that you will be much more petty in terms of image quality, lightning, colors etc.
In 2D the experience is basically the same whether you watch it on a cheap monitor or an expensive 4k screen. I never even bothered adjusting any colors.
In 3D JAV its different because it actually makes your brain think you are really there (and thats what gives you this unique experience). The downside is that everything that takes you "out" of this simulation with affect your experience.
I.e. the Pico 4 is a nice headset but it does not support 60hz or 120Hz and therefore you have some kind of microstutter which does really affect immersion. Quest 3 is supposed to support 120hz, otherwise it would be a dealbreaker for me.
Another, simple, immersion breaker would be the audio. If you watch a video and you are not using headphones and hear noices from your neighbourhood it could break immersion, so good headphones ideally with some kind of noice cancelling are really recommended.
This list could go on and on, ultimate goal is to have as least "immersion breakers" as possible.
I disagree on the statement that Pancake lenses do not have any effect on VR video.
My daily driver is the Quest2 and i was able to test the Pico4 and the Quest Pro (both headsets have pancake lenses).
Sweetspot and image clarity are much better and the perceived FOV is higher as your face is closer to the lenses. Unfortunately the Pico 4 has some other drawbacks (smear effect and light leaking). Dealbreaker right now for me is the lack of 120hz or 60Hz support. I hope Meta will be able to have that in the Quest 3, otherwise there will always be some kind of microstutter.
Well, I don't think it has anything to do with the fact that they are pancake lenses, but rather that they are better lenses... The FOV does improve, but Quest 2 has little FOV, my old Odyssey Plus glasses have more FOV than Quest 2 and Pico 4, and they are not Pancake.
I honestly don't think Pancake affects the video much, but it does affect 3D apps and games in terms of light leakage and so on.
That's why I use PC VR. The standard resolution of Quest 2 is what it is. But on PC with the power of a good graphic card you can apply supersampling to the video by 200 or 300%., and the definition is much improved. I am happy how I watch movies in VR, the definition I get is very good, even in JAV VR.
Of course, there are studios that have bad image quality, as you said.
