I've never been a fan of the big starlet anyways.. But what I have been a big fan of is outdoor shoots, which pretty much seem out the window now with all the crackdowns.. See here, here. I'm sure this has been discussed in the thread before but it's a pretty real crackdown. Hopefully they'll find some way around it like finding people with private property that they can film on. There have been a few movies released lately with realistic looking public baths but I don't think there's going to be as many onsen movies :( or the many girl outdoor movies..

yeah ... now I can't see Moodyz's Bako Bako series anymore :(

private property with big garden or pool can be a solution, like in western porn sometimes they rent a mansion

the fact is the past few years most of the popular girls are freelancer, and started their career as a freelancer too, the last 3 best actress winners are freelancer, and current top 4 : Aika, Hibiki Otsuki, Saki Hatsumi and Aki Sasaki are freelancer

so I agree with you big studios aren't producing starlet like before, most of them only have short career in AV or failed to reach the top spot

Sakura Mana who won best new actress at the Adult Broadcasting awards, won the best actress in 2015, the DDM awards are only 3 years old, and the best actress award is influenced a lot by sales, of course actresses who put out a lot would always win those, The award of Excellence is what goes to who the fans vote as the most popular, which have had A contract girl, and Aika win it so your concept on that is kinda flawed.

also if you mean DMM top 4, again that's unfair if you release a lot, great chance you sell more then someone who does 1 video a month, Like Sakura Mana is one of the top 5 girls in the industry, Yua Mikami, and Rion who aren't great performers you'd easily say they are more popular then those 4 freelancers, Acky has been a consistent top girl in the industry for almost 20 years and she does 2 videos a month, Tsubomi also does great at two vids a month.

I understand what you mean, but from what I've learned JAV people are trying to give new fresh girls, I'm sure they have study the market, and they know Maria Ozawa's replica will not bring them fortune
Maria Ozawa was a unique talent because of her looks and performance.

Julia and Rena Fukiishi are subtly promoted as successors to Maria Ozawa. Perhaps it's deliberate but similarities are interesting: frequent monthly releases, mixed heritage, healthy busts, and nice figures. I will risk triggering fisticuffs (sarcasm) by saying neither matches Maria as a performer.

yes

thanks to remind me that the most popular are not same with the best ;)

I should correct my word, the most popular are dominate by freelancers, like you said they have advantage because they release more videos, yes I know it isn't fair but fans are more often to see them, so their images are more into people's mind, especially for the neutral

honestly I'm rare to see people mentioned about Yua Mikami, while Rion is more often, but the most often to be mentioned recently are those freelancers

I seen a lot of peoples turn to JAV becaused her

btw about Rena Fukishi, I think she is unique, failed in the beginning, years later she comeback and rise as one of the most bussy, maybe her luck come late, or becaused other factor

True that, Maria Ozawa was the first one who I would actively try to find movies of. I think you are right about the fact that its their mixed heritage that sets them apart. They have a unique look that Im sure is very attractive to a lot of people including myself.

Maria Ozawa must have indoctrinated me into JAV; on a tube site, I watched her playing a news anchor getting all bukkake'd (while she was possibly reading copy... in English, I believe), and I thought... who is that exotic beauty.

Even Akiba-Online's "mixed blood" expert, the venerable Paparoach408, could not (in 2013) corroborate JULIA's DNA. Ghostbird pointed to two inconclusive sites, and allow me to present the information from the second one under "Spoiler," as I got an infection warning for that site. (First site, Boobpedia, boldly claims: "Ethnicity: Caucasian, Asian.")

Julia text.jpg

(Once you click on that "Spoiler" button, note the presentation of other stage names for JULIA, primarily "Julia Kyoka," which the Minnano-AV site confirms with the "Kyouka" spelling. I did not know she had a fuller stage name. Her Sougouwiki page reports differently, with "Kyoka" as another single-name alias, along with "Saori.")

If anyone has "evidence" on either actress (I've never thought of Rena Fukiishi as a mutt, frankly; what made those who have said so reach that conclusion?), I would encourage you to make a record of it on the "Mixed Blooded JAV Actress") thread.

That's RCT-168 scene 3. And yes she reads in English (the other girls read in Japanese).

It's one of the earliest JAVs I watched as well. One of the best bukkake series ever, but now defunct, like many great bukkake series, which I guess could be an example of "JAV loosing its edge".

JAV loosing its edge is subjective, its depend on our preferences, for people who love bukkake, r***, bondage, lolli you will say yet it is, but I don't like it so I don't care if they stop making those genres anymore

and I love good orgy and outdoor sex, I feel its really bad they have discontinue Moodyz's Bako Bako Tour, but for you guys who dislike it, you don't care too

so if you ask to peoples who watch oldskul vanilla stuff only (no bukkake, no outdoor, no r***, no rough play, no incest), everything still going fine like usually for them

"...Defunct, like many great bukkake series, which I guess could be an example of 'JAV loosing its edge'."

I can understand how JAV might be getting softened as
Blah13 outlined in his wonderful opening post, as far as the more controversial areas, but I can't understand why anyone would think silly bukkake would pose any kind of a danger... to the point where the Japanese porn makers would turn away from producing this JAV staple. So if bukkake has become nearly extinct, that would be fascinating. If so, perhaps it was determined that the viewers are no longer as interested?

I've usually paid attention to the times you have brought up Maria Ozawa and/or RCT-168, Pikuseru... and you have mentioned the movie a good several times. (Here is one time you added a lovely photo of the lady, and another time you even speculated Maria was a... transsexual?? For God's SAKE, Pikuseru!) Thing is, I have a burning curiosity about that first long JAV excerpt I watched (in terms of what film it came from), and I am almost positive it was not RCT-168. I believe the running length was around an hour (i.e., just Maria), and I dimly remember she was standing a good chunk of the time (perhaps out in the open, and not necessarily behind a desk), and smartly attired (at least at first) in perhaps a business suit.

That is, I remember the camera angle mostly as a mid-shot (waist/hips up) whereas RCT-168 has a lot of close-ups:

,,, (Video)

When I conducted research, I concluded RCT-168 was Maria's only "anchorwoman/bukkake" outing, and since I'm pretty sure what I watched was something other than RCT-168, the movie's identity has always gnawed on me. Maybe the movie was uncensored (and thus left out from DMM-style filmographies), or maybe I was simply imagining things.

Well there's one way you can make sure the genres you like stay around and that's vote with your yen/dollars, because the stuff that sells will stick around simple as that.. It might get a little more complicated when talking about laws about outdoor shooting but there are ways around that ie shooting on private property if the studios have enough money and incentive.. I think that's the real deal breaker here and that many who share free JAV on sites like these don't necessarily want to hear.. It's not a free lunch. These studious have costs and if they aren't being met and made a profit off of then it's a no go..

totally agree with you :top:

people who can't understand or won't accept the fact that piracy is killing the AV industry are either real stupid or pretend to be stupid

I understand, and I'm guilty of it too, but it's the truth.. I've downloaded many movies but I also try to buy when I can and I realize that not everyone is in the position to do that, that the movies are probably overpriced when they are just digital downloads and are the same price OR MORE as the the physical media if they were in Japan.. and that for most people outside of Japan paying for a digital download with DRM that has to be played in a proprietary player isn't very attractive to say the least..

buying many videos is not good, but never buy is not good too

so buy some is a wise move

I don't believe JAV is over-priced. I've seen many of these smaller studios and they are NOT rolling in dough. When a title costs $5000+ USD to make and historically titles in the same series may only sell a few hundred copies, selling for 2900 yen a pop ($30'ish) is reasonable.

Some people like to complain that they can buy major motion pictures for $10 and why should JAV cost more than that. What some fail to realize is that major motion pictures are seen by millions of people so the studios can afford to charge less. JAV studios don't have that freedom and charge what they do so they don't go under.

Prefer to pay less? Check out sites like http://10musume.com/ . It's updated near daily with exclusive amateur uncensored content. It's about $40 a month or so. The catch? It's pretty much all one-on-one filming. Your director/actor and the actress in a hotel room for the most part. If you want big name big story big production JAV to cost less, you'll just see titles like this and nothing fancier.

The physical cost to press a movie is pennies on the dollar. 2980 yen (or whatever it costs for the title) is not really taking into factor the physical costs since they're so negligible.

I agree that bonuses with physical media (ie, actual physical bonus like a Polaroid or just like a bonus scene on the disk) is always a nice plus and it's a sure-fire way to keep their sales viable. Not AV related at all, but 99% of the time I buy MP3 albums of bands I like. It's only when they offer something special like a signed CD would I plunk down extra + shipping for the physical product.

I voted that jav is losing its edge only in some areas. For the gokkun fans i think this past year was really good to us. Theres a little slowdown but maybe its just the season we are in? I think we could see more bukkake though, haven't seen a great bukkake movie come out in in a while. Milkycat has been producing this year pretty well I think considering they are relatively slow being a smaller studio. But others have not been stepping up to do the good ol' classic bukkake for a while now I believe. Or at least not the way I would prefer it being done.

The biggest problem I have now is urabukkake slowing down. They havent been updating nearly as much due to the crackdown on uncensored content. They seem to still be shooting content they say for their new censored site. I hope that comes out sooner than later. I have less than half of the videos they ever made to watch left. I think I'll need to binge watch the rest of them and downgrade my VIP status temporarily until hopefully their new site gets launched. Then I can dump my money into that instead. If they do go out of business (I pray not) I will just dedicate it all to a milky cat membership.

As for other genres, I think blowjob movies are always good and steady. But the irrumatio genre could always be a little more frequent in my opinion, like Aoi Rena in Smile Deepthroat. That was a great one. Need more of that more often.

I never had an outside/public fetish but I think it is unfortuante for fans of that genre and I would feel just as bad if one of my favorite genres were obstructed that way. I think these things come in cycles, especially for niche genres many of us are into that got us into jav to begin with. I remember when when I started posting here more frequently everyone was complaining about lack of gokkun and such. Then a while later it became another golden age again. Once the Japanese authorities scratches the bug out of its ass things will go back to normal again. All they are doing is saving face for whatever reason. Once they feel validated things will smooth out again.
