This comment is concerning, especially coming from the "JAV VR Content Manager". Scale and camera proximity are two completely different things. If a girl appears to be a giant, the problem is with the camera rig/IPD.
And I would agree with your assertion that it's great to (sometimes) pull the camera back a bit, so we can see the penetration, IF we could actually SEE the penetration (and not a pixelated blur). "Squatting hoverface" (where the girl is leaning forward/down into the camera, cowgirl style, face and penetration centered in the frame) is one of my personal favorite positions, but it only really shines when uncensored.
I think your heart is in the right place (we all want a healthy mix of well framed positions), but right now (due in part to the censorship) the 'super close/intimate/penetration not even visible' nature is the STRENGTH of JAV, and we need to encourage it.
Ultimately, there is no reason a good VR scene can't include a variety of positions, but the focus should definitely leverage VR's strengths (closeups/intimacy).
Hmmm...I'm not sure that's any less concerning. If you don't mind, could you point to a western studio you think is doing this effectively? Or, even particular titles? I can only think of a couple recent titles from these studios I thought were any good at all. One was "The Waking Up", by VRP. Mainly due to the actress seeming like she actually might have enjoyed it. And, also, the close-ups were fantastic.
One area where Japanese companies have always excelled, is listening to, and understanding their customers desires. I would imagine, they might receive some push-back if they make the types of changes you're proposing to them. Are they asking for help in order to increase revenue on SLR specifically? Or, does this also pertain to content mainly produced for their home market?
Hey Inertia, I'm sorry for sounding so critical. I know opinions about porn and erotica are highly subjective. I think 95% of commercial western porn is absolute garbage. What I see is many (certainly not all) of the JAV VR producers making content that more closely reflects my own experience with regard to intimacy. The very close-up scenes are one of the main reasons for this. I haven't seen any western producers consistently doing this as effectively as some of the Japanese studios. I know I'm not the only one with this opinion.

The problem with western VR is that the girls just fuck. There are very little interaction. They almost don't talk to the camera, they don't aproach to the camera, they are just posing, acting like in a standard porn film one or two meters away from the camera. It is very rare to see close-ups, to see some good kissings on a western VR, some petting, the girls talking to your ear... But the most important thing for me is that they don't use my favorite JAV VR position: the girl sitting on you, face to face, only a few centimeters from you. Both sitting, not laying. This is awesome on VR and It is very, very rare on Western VR.
And I have to discard 70% of Western films because the disgusting fake tits, ugly tattoos and stupid piercings. But this is another question.
On same labels (GOPJ) the girls are like giants if they are too close (whole film, in fact) but they look correct size on other labels. As Akibaum says it's a camera rig / IPD problem, not that the camera is too close.
I have Samsung Odyssey Plus where I can adjust IPD via hardware so it can match my IPD, and I only see giant girls with some labels (GOPJ, 3DSVR and most western labels), but others (Afesta Takumi) they look perfect size even a few centimeters from my face. It's a problem with the cameras they use and their configuration, or that most smartphone VR glasses (even Rift S) have fixed IPD and it is different than your IPD, not with the distance of the camera...

Yes, but a technical decision like to move the camera far away, can change the most important aspect of JAV VR porn: the intimacy and the feeling.
In Inertia's defense, I don't think he was advocating moving the camera "far" away, just framing the shot to include penetration (which again, I agree can be powerful, but only if done in moderation, and ideally uncensored). As long as the majority of the run time is dedicated to closeups/intimacy, I'm fine with a healthy mix of positions.
Another example where pulling the camera back slightly may be justified - kissing. I think most of us would agree, the eyegazing/intimacy BEFORE the actual kiss can be just as hot as the kiss itself. It's also nice to actually SEE her tongue during tongueplay. In my opinion, the 'perfect' VR kiss involves both 'accurate distance cross eyed vision' (as you would expect when someone is truly that close), AND lots of in focus eyegazing/tongueplay (air kissing). TL;DR, the girl should lean in and out.

I agree entirely. And, I don't see anything in western VR that's superior to JAV VR from a technical standpoint. The last western titles I viewed were ridiculous. The only way I could make them look even remotely realistic is with extreme zoom, and tilt. Funniest was when a girl leaned in to kiss, and landed it about 20 cm in front of my face. All the angles were way off.... like missionary position. Felt like I was hovering a meter over the girls. Cowgirl.... even worse. They're filmed in a way that makes it look like you've got a freakishly long torso, with the girls just too far away. Is this because the producers think we need to see penetration 100% of the time? I really think they're getting this wrong.
