Alright, for those who are lost and think uncensored movies mean the actress doing it is nearing the end of her career, well, it's not. Uncensored only means that that movie has been chosen to be sold outside Japan. Examples are Azusa Nagasawa who did uncensored and she's not going away any time soon, and here's an example of the exact same movie in censored and uncensored versions:

Uncensored movies are just a last resort maneuver for actresses whose popularity is fallling dramatically. This kind of movies put them back on the spotlight, but if you ask me, it's just a bad move that screams "I'm running out of options here".

The JAV industry is mainly based on the popularity of the actresses. Well known (and I mean as in S tier superstars) actresses never go for this kind of move.
Have you seen Sora Aoi, Yuma Asami, Rio, Saori Hara or Kirara Asuka do uncensored movies? Not a chance in hell.

Instead, actresses in decline, who recently ended a contract with major JAV producers go for uncensored in an attempt to boost their career. I'm looking at Maria Ozawa, Ameri Ichinose, Azusa Nagasawa, etc.

The OP has it right, in part. I think Wanz just made a deal to release a censored version of an already uncensored release, just like other AV makers release censored versions of movies made outside of Japan.

The other methods of releasing uncensored stuff is still in effect.

Some amateur actresses who do uncensored JAVs I find quite good but too bad they usually don't do much videos besides a few videos and vanish.

I've seen a few amateur JAV actresses who did uncensored only performed sex acts with one guy in a few videos and they(both the actress and actor) don't do any more. Makes me suspect they are real couples performing these uncensored videos.

Uncensored is what others say above, fading out in popularity of professional actresses usually out of contract or pure amateur actresses.

But if these treasures are hiding somewhere, why haven't any been released? Say, by a disgruntled employee who was informed he was about to be fired or downsized or made redundant? Or an AV studio employee who got jilted/rejected by an AV actress, he can screw her over if he released her unpixelated works anonymously over p2p or torrent?
