I've gotten this more than four times in the last several weeks. I thought you guys were keeping up on this kind of stuff since your last DOS attack. Seems
I was incorrect in thinking this. Please as you are one of the premier sites you really have to figure something out. Pleasae don't allow your users to get this virus as it is getting increasingly hard to get rid of.

Not sure what you're talking about. Please be a little more detailed. As much as we can try to keep things clean it really boils down to you. The site itself is not infected there might be some rogue files about and of course garbage links. Your browsing habits and trends need to be considered too.

dude, if you got a virus from here, everyone else would have gotten it and a lot would have bombarded AO with inquiries to that. i don't even have one and the workstation i am in is rather crude in term of virus detection.

I guess I should rename the post "Sites launced from here are rampart with the FBI virus."

I have been getting them from the cover and/or screenshot websites. I got it from cherryimage.com atleast twice and since you banned them 1-2 more times from some of the other sites.

My browsing habits and trends shouldn't be an issue as I am getting it from sites that are launched from HERE. I don't understand why this continues to be a problem since

No excuse since 04-12-2010 to use external image hosts."

Regardless. I have in fact gotten the FBI virus while viewing your site and was just trying to make you aware of the problem. Really not trying to step on anybodies toes.

Thank you for your interest and hoping that the problem doesn't get any worse.

What is the exact name of this "FBI virus" that your antivirus is reporting?

And another thing, why are you browsing for porn with scripts enabled any how?

I am going to give you the benefit of the doubt here and do my best to be polite. Your browsing habits are the issue here. Some browsers and browsing settings are just more apt to attack than others. You have to take responsibility for your own security. If you browse porn boards there are going to be links that have malware imbedded in them. The moderators do the best they can to weed out rogue sites but some hosts are as much a victim as you are. So it is okay to report issues with image hosts but not okay to blame AO.

One way to protect yourself is to use Mozilla Firefox with the "No Script" add on. You can control what scripting you allow and who you allow it from. This would likely have solved your problem. I visit sites filled with who knows what and have not contacted a virus in quite awhile. It just takes a little effort on your part and you become that much more immune to malware than your average joe.....which is what you are now.

Best of luck.

What is the exact name of this "FBI virus" that your antivirus is reporting?

FBI virus is a sneaky malware, which usually gets inside its target computer undetected. This scam presents about itself for the victim as 'The FBI Federal Bureau Investigation' alert and aggressively claims that computer is blocked because of the Copyright and Related Rights Law violation or other reason. However, if you find yourself blocked by a program, which tells that you have been illegally using or distributing copyrighted content, viewing or distributing pornographic content and spreading malware to other computers, you must ignore such alert first of all and remove FBI virus immediately! This program is distributed by scammers to swindle the money. Be aware that security experts expect this group of ransomware to grow and improve.
HOW CAN I GET INFECTED WITH FBI VIRUS?

This infection gets inside the system through security vulnerabilities found when user visits infected websites or downloads infected files. These security holes appear as soon as you forget to take care of your computer's security and don't use security software or don't update it. Of course, you must always think about safe browsing and avoid suspicious downloads that are actively offered on the Internet right now. The biggest issue, which is caused by this ransomware, is that similarly to its earlier versions, it completely blocks its victim's computer, 'locks' it and disables all the programs found there. In order to 'unlock' the system, FBI virus shows its warning and requires to pay the fine through MoneyPak. However, you must have already understood that you must never pay this $100 fine if you don't want to help for the scammers who are collecting these fines.
FBI VIRUS VERSIONS:

FBI Moneypak: This ransomware uses a huge alert filled with FBI and Moneypak logos, a webcam and a list of crimes victim is accused for. User is informed that he has been viewing/distributing pornographic or copyrighted content, spreading malware or doing other illegal activities. For that, he has to pay a $100 fine and enter a Moneypak code on the right side of the fake alert. This threat locks the system down completely.

FBI Green Dot Moneypak Virus: This ransomware locks the whole system down and displays a fake alert with FBI, Moneypak and McAfee logos. A miselading message, which belongs to this threat, claims that Federal Bureau of Investigation has blocked you for downloading illegal/copyrighted material and similar crimes. It requires to pay $200 fine and includes the steps explaining how you should do that.

FBI Virus Black Screen: This ransomware from the FBI group of viruses uses the same technique as its predecessors and seeks to make users pay a $200 fine. However, it also applies an audio warning, black screen and system's lock down. It will similarly claim that you have been caught for law violations and will accuse you for visiting pornographic websites, viewing files containing zoophilia, child pornography and similar.

FBI Online Agent: This is the latest ransomware, which uses the name of the Federal Bureau of Investigation. It uses a newly-designed alert, which tends to accuse victim for committing various crimes and asks to pay $200 using MoneyPak. The new thing about FBI Online Agent is that it doesn't show your IP address or location but gives the name of the responsible agent, case number and other details that are clearly invented. Besides, scammers have included the promotion of the terrorism into the list of the crimes that are reported into this misleading warning.

Also people who like being able to do things like open programs or connect to the internet. You're clearly misunderstanding, the FBI thing is BS to scare people; the main issue is how it locks down your computer. Shit, even if it didn't do anything like that I'm not down with any programs that install themselves like that; I'm not even totally cool with programs updating themselves (especially if they leave an update service running all the time: looking at you Java :pissed: and :damnit: Adobe).

....

NoScript is awesome, thanks for the suggestion; but whenever I learn about a cool Add-on for FireFox it reminds me how much of a nub I am when it comes to that kind of stuff (one of my dreams is to know what Greasemonkey is). Related note: I bet even Adblock+ with a decent filter would protect you from this virus. From the bits and pieces of things I've read its power level doesn't seem very high. Actually, doesn't Firefox automatically block mal-scripts (or most of them at least) just as part of what it does (i.e. without needing any add-ons)?

EDIT: NOTE: In the past month I've downloaded at least 50 GB of stuff (somewhere between most and all of it being porn obviously) from links here and haven't even heard of this so called "rampart [sic]" FBI virus prior to seeing this thread.

I click on a link FROM HERE to check out a screenshot of a video also FROM HERE and you accuse me of using child porn?

You are an asshole and should be banned, since what you are saying is, that AO has child porn on their site. Nothing could be farther from the truth.

Maybe it was the FBI that threw you off. Really don't care. Go light yourself on fire and do the world a favor.

I'm inclined to think the latter because I like to think that people are fundamentally good. I'm something of a humanist like that. Well, if I'm wrong enjoy the food I suppose.
