A lot of former or current pornstars play those similar roles in small tv shows too. I never heard minami kojima break her fake voice yet besides in a little from her moaning.

Just dropping in to say I thought Sasha Grey gave a pretty great performance in Soderbergh's The Girlfriend Experience.

Granted, she was playing a call girl, but the film was far more about the emotional repercussions of the lifestyle than the sex. Found it pretty effecting.

Apologies for potentially off topic post, carry on. Suppose my point, though, is that I do think she had talent and it's too bad society refuses to take a person who made choices in porn seriously, after the fact.
