JavLuv JAV Browser

Those with the 3 numbers at the beginning are usually MG Stage specific codes(those 3 number represent the manufacturer since the same code can happen on many of them) and not the actual movie code, which makes it really hard to search since no database include those codes.

The problem is the extreme laziness of the people ripping the movies and using that code instead of the correct one, it would be hard to fix(would require detecting that and ignoring them) since some actual codes do start with numbers, even though they are more rare.

is there a way to make it so thumbnail won't all be like hhd800.webp? Also all the 300MIUM, 390JNT, LUXU are unsearchable on the net?
There are a lot of series` that do not get registered in JAVluv because when it tries to scrape sites for data there is no data available for these videos. Fc2-ppv, Caribbean.com, Mium... Luxu. etc. There are a bunch of them. When Javluv is doing a scan it will search online for cover data and .nfo data but if the remote sites, like javlibrary, don't list them then Javluv has no data to add. Here's a workaround. Seperate these non-scanable files into a seperate folder (you can move them back when you are done) In the settings for javluv look for : Scanning, under that is an option to: Generate metatdata from local file... Click that. I also click: Use movie filename as title. Now, in your folder that has 'unscannable files' either manually go and download the covers (You can find them by searching for the code on Google/images) Or, what i do is mass-create thumbnails of each file that is unscannable with a thumbnail program (ezthumb) is a good, free, thumbnail program. Create thumbnails for all of the files or go and manually download them and put them into the same folder as your files. Now, when you scan with javluv it will first look online to try to find cover and .nfo data but when it fails to find it it will fall back to your local files and the cover images that you have provided to it. Then it will create an entry in your javluv database with your image as the referance cover image. If you are inclined to do more you can then edit the .nfo information from within javluv, just go to that video and manually enter what information that you have. It sounds like a lot but it is pretty easy especially when you do it all in one big grooup. One the data is entered into javluv you can now use the move feature to move the files back to where you want them. One last little detail. some of the unscannable files have peculiar naming structure that doesn't follow the traditional 'ABC-123' or ABCD-12345, so JAVluv will ignore those too, so if you are having trouble getting some files to get noticed, it may be the structure. Your file may be named, 1234bob-sss-ww This structure may confuse Javluv. I've noticed this with some, oddly not all, Caribbean.com videos that may be named Caribbean.com-1233453-004. If you have that issue I suggest renaming, before you create the thumbnail, to CARIB-1233453-004 or something like that. Sorry for this very long post.

is there a way to make it so the thumbnail copy the file name exactly from the video file instead of just the first portion after a period? Like if the video file is hhd800.ABC-1234.mp4 then the thumbnail file will be hhd800.ABC-1234.webp. I notice it does it when you have all your video files in one folder but not when the video files are in the individual folders

If I understand you then yes. I mainly use a thumbnail program called "VideoThumbnail Maker" it is fairly versatile. There is a free version which is pretty good but the paid version has a few tweaks that I like. I mentioned ezthumb and the following works too. If you open the program you can scan all the files in a folder, likewise for video thumbnail maker, but if you want to do it on an individual basis. If you right click on a video file and click "open with" you can opt to open with, One time, ezthumb, you may have to browse to the exe the first time but after that it will be added to you open with menu. Now ezthumb is configured to append _thumb to the end of your file name, you can remove that by opening the program, go to setup, scroll down to the bottom where it says, suffix of thumbnails and remove the _thumbs. after that the thumbnail files will be named exactly as your original. If you use video thumbnail maker it will simply name your thumbnail the same as your file. I suspect that most other thumb programs will do the same. On that note there may be better thumbnail programs available that I don't know about. I am kind of prone to software that does what it is supposed to do with no other bells-and-whistles. So you may want to check in to other available aps but I can tell you from experience that both ezthumb and videothumbnailmaker work. Ezthum is a no-frills software, it makes thumbnails and has very little modification options. Videothumbnailmaker has a few more options but for your purpose they are both adequit... Oh, I got sidetracked,, Once you have the thumbnail program installed, Right click on the individual video file, choose open with and open it with the thumb program (always choose one time only or the thumb program will become your default program for that file type) Once you choose open with and select the thumbnail program, it will not actuall open but it will generate a thumbnail of your image automatically. Let me know if you are after something more detailed taht my 3AM brain is not calculating. Cheers.

Sorry let me try again, by thumbnail I mean cover

The ripper love promoting their sites, so most video file start with site name

This is what in my folder before scanning and generation

site.com.ABCD-1111.mp4

And this is what I get after scanning with Javluv

site.com.ABCD-1111.mp4
site.com.ABCD-1111.nfo
site.wehp

But if I have 2 or more movies files are in the same folder, this is what in my folder before scanning and generation

site.com.ABCD-1111.mp4
site.com.ABCD-2222.mp4

And this is what I get after scanning with Javluv

site.com.ABCD-1111.mp4
site.com.ABCD-1111.nfo
site.com.ABCD-1111.wehp
site.com.ABCD-2222.mp4
site.com.ABCD-2222.nfo
site.com.ABCD-2222.wehp

I don't know how much more clear I can describe it .

The program can clearly do that if you put every single video files in 1 folder but it doesn't do that if you have video files in their own individual folders, which I also find that behavior kind of strange. In the future if I decided to move multiple video files into the same folder, I will need to regenerate all the covers because everything has the same name.

I left most setting as default, I don't really see any setting that let you change this behavior

Personally I would rename my files by removing the sitename from the file name. There is a great free utility called ReNamer. Play with it before actually renaming anything, look at the preview before you click yes, but essentially you could stick a whole folder full of files that say, bobspornshack.com-ABC-123.mp4 and then tell renamer to remove "bobspornshack.com-" and it would clear up the problem completely. This program has many other useful features but again, use the preview window before you accept the changes because they are final. IF I am still missing what you want, try a shoutout to TmpGuy. He is very responsive usually and will try to either explain or resolve your problem.

I used to rename then I ran into issue trying to track down the source, especially nowdays people add watermark sometime, then I try to dl the one without watermark so I actually know which one is which. On top of that, the whole point of Javluv is automation, I am not going to rename each video file, just want the cover to name after the video source which it is clearly doing that but only if you dump every single video in the same folder. I will post on Github and see if they author pick it up.

That behavior makes perfect sense to me.

I'm guessing it tries to name the cover by the code by default or because of a setting(that's what I would want at least so I'm guessing same for the author) and if it fails or finds multi-part or multi-versions, then it falls back to just naming it after every video files.

Your problem is that hhd800 fits the format of a code(3 letters + 3 numbers) so it thinks it found it and stops there. If your folder is also named like the video file, you could rename that to the code and it might name it as the correct code at least(I don't use javluv so I have no clue) while still letting you keep the video as it is to know which version you have. Depending on your media manager, that might fix your problem.
