WOW I just had an epiphany!
I was grabbing the title images for upcoming titles and thinking about how I much I enjoy JAV VR, thinking about the gear I have and the gear that is available out there, the discussions we've been having around here; I just finished replying to a PM about this content, and it suddenly rushed into my mind. This simple analogy. If I was passing by, say, a shop district and someone said:
Hey, do you want to see your favorite JAV stars naked, looking into your eyes and talking to you and motioning like they're doing things to you, themselves, and others? The thing is, you have to look through a very thin screen door.
Now, who in their right mind would say no?

Unfortunately, it is an old title. I would love to watch another Chisato VR film. There so few mature VR releases...
Me. I'm not into POV porn, which is 99% of VR. I'm not buying into the whole "you're the guy in this movie" thing because it is clearly not me. As such I prefer porn where you are the watcher (because that's what I actually am in all this anyway.)Now, who in their right mind would say no?
So until they start doing more VR porn that isn't POV I will stick to regular porn.
It needs a little imagination... I can totally believe I am the man in POV in a VR film...
They are releasing more and more non-POV VR films in the last months, and I don't like it. It is standard porn in 3D, I don't want to watch an ugly guy in 3D and real size fucking a girl. There are thousands of standard films doing it.

Nooby question, but seeing as I only have PSVR on hand it looks like my only option is 360 youtube videos? Does anyone have any suggestions for youtube videos or channels?

I understand your stance. Aside from the off title where you watch more than anything, to where you are not the one the actress is interacting with, yes, you wouldn't be an ideal candidate for VR. But, maybe if you by chance happen upon a title with a favorite star it might make you think different for just a bit? The point of VR is to interact with someone. To each their own, absolutely! I'm more the type to accept an invitation by a cutie that wants to do things to me and wants me to do things to her than to be invited to watch her have fun with someone else. NOT that that alone wouldn't be almost as arousing. Voyeurism is indeed a sexy thing!
Isn't it!? Even with perceived or literally noticeable lower resolution (or quality) the sensation and experience is still incredible, isn't it? Again, as yet another analogy, if some hot woman allowed me to watch her do sexy things, I wouldn't care if the only window she allowed me to watch through was dirty and I couldn't see her through a perfectly clear glass. I'd squint and try to find a sweet spot! Haha!

Haha, yup, I feel ya! This a delightful new pleasure frontier I'm fully looking forward to exploring. Now I can bother my girlfriend slightly less with my overactive imagination. And get nearer to that Japanese girl fantasy encounter I never got to fulfil in real life...

The image quality of DSVR-723 is terrible. Like a 2016 film. Maybe is "a new camera" as they say, but seems a 10 dollars camera...
This one, DSVR-717 is very mediocre, too... The second file has 16 Mbps of bitrate... ¡16!!! Like a ten years ago video... And today there are VR releases here at Akiba even worse, with 11 Mbps of bitrate...
Soft of Demand has wonderful girls, goods ideas, but they are filming with 2016 quality, ruining the good work of the girls and the director. I can't understand.

My friend, I can help you understand as I always assumed this is what was going on and the source of your frustration. All this time you've been posting about the studios putting out inferior content, but, that is clearly based on the content you are getting second-hand by whatever source is flooding the web for you to find titles, which, really isn't a true representation of the content that is actually available.
Again, using your latest words about SOD, here is what I have for that last part of DSVR-723 (D). I only chose to acquire this part since it was the smallest and I wasn't going to grab the entire title to do my comparison.

As you can see, you are unsatisfied because of the quality of titles being provided to you from wherever you grab titles from, it is not due to the content being produced by the studios. I can only assume this is the case for much of the JAV you've been accumulating. And, really, if you think about the situation, you should not be surprised. If you've spent any amount of time here on Akiba pre-VR you would know that there are re-encodes, upscales, downscales, watermarks, all kinds of things that can degrade a title, being shared and uploaded again and again. This would account for your experience of drops in quality.
The way "uploaders" work, in my opinion, is always the most benefit for the least effort. So, those who want to get their content out as fast as possible for you to click on (to generate for them) they usually skimp on quality and go straight for quantity. They will get lower fare if they can since it takes less time for them to download/torrent or whatever the case may be, so they can then turn around and quickly upload it for you to get.
Like Casshern said, this is likely due to how your source re-encoded the files. The same release I have is 30 Mbps. In any case, I don't think the overall bitrate is a good indicator of image quality. The producers are using variable bitrates to keep file sizes reasonable, and to maintain play ability for the variety of VR headsets out there on the market. Overall, I think they've done an amazing job with the development of this technology. Just look at what was available just 3 years ago. Imagine what we're going to see 3 years from now.
On PC VR, when a video has low bitrate you see the background very blurred.
The "sources" I use are the releases here at Akiba, and other webs that use exactly the same files. It is obvious that the uploader mutilate the files and all the webs publish the same files with low bitrate...
I have tried to buy some films at A FestaVR but they don't have all the films, and R18 doesn't allow to download files to a PC, and its PC player is awful.
I don't know how to obtain JAV VR with good quality that I can download to my PC and use with my PC player, not the awful player with DRM that use R18...
