Either way my theory is a bit different from yours. Although I will admit I never thought about it in the way that you did. If there is a large group of men who primarily interact with their own family (mothers, aunts, sisters) during that period, then those will most likely be the kind of women they are attracted to. I think interest in the incest fantasy could also basically be created during that period. Maybe its a combination of factors. Its a potent mix that along with the excitement of taboo.
There could be more variation or exceptions, but my theory is that these two things are the main reasons.
