I've read the first post and It was 2016. I would like to know the changes now in 2019 does it improve with quality now?
Im planning on getting not a latest model of samsung. preferably Samsung S8 edge with samsung VR GEAR.

If you don't really need a new phone I would suggest either the Oculus Go or the new Oculus Quest. They are standalone so you can use them without a connection to a computer/phone. No overheating issues or phone battery draining issues.
The Oculus Go like Gear VR is 3DOF meaning it tracks your headset/controller rotation but not position. Oculus Quest is 6DOF meaning it tracks your headset/controller rotation and position so you are more immersed in games, however in videos you can't really move anyway so if you're not interested in VR gaming the Quest might be overkill.
Anyway I think both of these are better VR experiences than Gear VR.
I have a 9+ and the resolution is a bit low for VR, you can see the individual pixels, also known as the screen door effect. You're better off with a headset that has a higher resolution.
