For visitors, the front page is everything, so order does matter especially for attracting new users.

I thought A-O was trying to accommodate SLF refugees by filling holes left by SLF that A-O currently doesn't fill. But apparently that's not the case since you want to keep it Japan focused.

you know SLF announced they where shutting down only a week ago, you shouldn't expect changes to happen so fast

So all this talk of SLF having more than just Japanese idols made me curious and so I went to investigate... and oh my God they have a thread about Cyndi Wang!!! :cinta: If only I'd known... :terharu:It was a rather short-lived one, but there are some awesome pics there which I currently can't access, but hopefully my account will get the green light so I can snatch them before the site goes down forever!

And yeah, welcome to those SLF members who plan to make this forum their new home! :)

Why not just do the whole thing in a thread? This is a different BBS structure than they used at Scanlovers so the thread tools are different. Just creat a thread in an appropriate section and share the images there, newer posts will be at the top and even if you haven't shared in that thread you can click the "watch thread" option so you will be alerted to new posts. There are many image sharing threads here.

However the Media option would even work better, as Coolkevin suggested. There is also a "watch media" option. If you need to you can create a thread where members can announce their participation and point you to their media (album) on the subject so you can add it to your alerts or you can just use the search options for the Media to find if anyone started something new in a topic you are interested in.

No matter what you choose, there are going to be some adjustments to make on your part as you acquaint yourself with how the forum here works. Good luck and welcome to the Akiba-Online.

Thank you.
The issue is, there isn't a specific category to house "Family Album" threads at the moment. Like this http://forum.scanlover.com/forumdisplay.php?f=102.
I think that's what the OP meant.

In terms of fetishes, see the depth of content here http://forum.scanlover.com/forumdisplay.php?f=27 vs here at akiba https://www.akiba-online.com/forums/jav-idol-groups-themes.119/
For many SL-ers Fetish Fraternity is a crucial existence, it pains us (me anyway) for it to be placed right at the bottom of the frontpage.
If the position is, "It's a diff bbs, deal with it", of course SL-ers can't do anything, but if there's even a slight intent to incorporate active SL posters into Akiba, then Akiba may consider some changes as well.
Human nature is to resist change. The same applies to SL members who are losing their forum. If AO is willing to incorporate whats best about SL, in addition to its own strengths, it will be stronger overall. Sorry to sound like a lecture, it's my default state ;).

Anyway if the changes suggested results in a better AO, why not incorporate it anyway, regardless of what SL-ers think. Let the suggestions stand on its own merit.

It's only been a week the announcement at SL has been made. The fact that CoolKevin is even listening is a great thing. Kudos.

I see. That puts a different light on things. So I hope you give the staff time to consider this. Personally I was pretty happy with things here as they were but I am not adverse to changes made to accomodate you. So instead saying welcome perhaps I should have said "aloha", just in case this ends up being a goodbye rather than a hello. You got to love Hawaii, they have a much more relaxed view of life. Coming or going they smile and wave at you the same way.

We are not really out looking for new users, they come via searches, and bespoke (word of mouth)

looks like hardly anybody ever posted there in recent times, I know it is almost empty, but a lot was removed, but no reason not to resurrect it, ok at the moment it does not have the word fetish on it, but there is no reason why the name theme/fetish/group is really an issue, but please be my guest and start a thread,

this is seriously getting out of hand how wide spread the discussions are concerning SFL, I am all over place with this, time to merge the lot into one section, I will leave up the original links so it all comes to here

Hello I am Scanlover Refugee here... For other Scanlovers refugees you may recognized my iconic display photograph and that is my grandfather at young age.
About Me (for members of A-O):
My name is Joshua or you can just call me ELOFan, Proud Grandson of U.S. Army Korean War Veteran or my new name here ProudGrandsonof_ArmyVetSL (letters SL) stands for of course Scanlover I knew Scanlover back in the day before it was even a forum... It was a site once. I am big fan Scanlover and it is sad to see it go.
At first I had doubts about joining this site but I figured I would give it a shot. Since you folks love oriental women I do too I prefer mostly Japanese and Korean mostly compare to others.
My Favorite Oriental Models Are: Mirei Kuroda, Hikaru Aoyama, Yuuri Morishita, Asaki Yoshida, Anna Konno, Aya Hazuki, Azusa Yamamoto, Hwang Mi Hee, Shiori Kawana and Waka Inoue.
I am big fan of collection current and old Japan Gravure Idols.
I love history my specialty is: World War II (I studied mostly on subject European theater I know most of battles, tanks, ships, aircraft, weapons and yes even commanders and I study little bit on Pacific though) & Korean War (currently studying). As you may know I like call myself Proud Grandson of U.S. Army Korean War Veteran my grandfather served in Korean War from 1950 to 1952 he was there at Battle of Pusan Perimeter till Chinese crossed into Yalu River my grandfather served in United States Eighth Army his commanding officers were Generals Walton Walker and Matthew Ridgway.
My grandfather passed away on February 28, 2013 and I like to think he left something for me to have... That is to take bigger interest in Oriental culture, history and women... Especially towards Koreans mainly. I hope in some way to help you... Even though I never contributed over at Scanlover I mostly been a lurker there.
I figured since people there are posting about my favorite oriental models I figured I had no reason to post about it.
We'll see though.

Here's another SLF refugee...

I'll miss Asian Angels and Adult Advocacy sections on SLF... For me SLF was the best to keep updated on every single AV idol works or events (new photo collections, photo books, AV releases, etc...) in a simple layout.

First of all
Hello and Welcome
I hope you will enjoy your stay here

it is still a simple layout, once you get used to it, admittedly many just dump and run (some do add links to the Idol when new material comes on), but you get alerts when something is posted, and you subscribe to a thread easy, there is a watch button at the top, click on that, and you will have options

it is the wording that most of you guys have problems with

(keep updated on every single AV idol works or events (new photo collections, photo books, AV releases, etc...))

there is no reason why you cannot add that info yourself, simple layout? if you can link it, please, I will look at it, always looking at ways to make things easier, but I suspect it is the volume of traffic makes it harder

Well like I said in my first post I said this "I figured since people there are posting about my favorite oriental models I figured I had no reason to post about it. We'll see though."

I noticed as I did little exploring around your forum it wasn't like Scanlover in a way. Of course I only search in for two Gravure Idols Yuuri Morishita and Mirei Kuroda but I could be wrong on this maybe you do post information on a Gravure Idol like Scanlover does and then members all post photos and links to download whole set of photos for that one particular Gravure Idol.

Here is example this is Mirei Kuroda thread (only about her and her only)

View media item 26607
As you see in the first photograph there's information (is it okay for members of Scanlover on here to post something like this?)

And as you see the images....

View media item 26608

Because I want to and I am sure there are others on here from Scanlover wanting to do it I just want to check to see if it is okay with you guys.

I started a thread for you
Mirei Kuroda
Yuuri Morishita

The above 2 threads, Mirei I just started for you, and Yuuri already had a thread, and is waiting for you to edit it, I do not have the time right now, but I will edit the whole thread and remove dead posts

I'll work on them right now while multi-tasking over at Scanlover Forum trying to save much as I can.

Can't you just "rip" the site? That way you won't feel so rushed as you will have a duplicate of it in storage. I am not sure how "big" the site actually is but it probably isn't as big as you think.

I wouldn't know anything about that.... I am not your typical person who is into modern technology or knows things like that. Yes I wish I knew but I choose not to be that type of person. Sorry you'll have to ask someone else.

Just search for the term "Webripper" at duckduckgo.com and check a few of the freeware versions available. I haven't used a webripper in ages myself. You don't have to understand that much, just let the software do the work for you. If you want to "save" what is on your old site that is the way to do it. Whether you want to or not, that is the only decision you have to make. You could also ask for help at the tech section (no guarantee you will get any help but you can always ask).

The admins at Scanlovers should already have access to a backup copy of the site, in case you are interested. If they wanted they could upload the whole thing to a cloud storage site for their members access. I am not sure they "would" but you could ask the question over there.

Just trying to help out. I have no other personal interest in the whole matter actually.

the probably fastest way would be to integrate them into akiba (if chompy says, it's okay)
(perhaps as read only, into it's own subforum)
all that's needed is to get the all the files and the DB from the admin there.
(if s.o. knows them, would you please be so kind and ask? as for matters, registration isn't possible anymore )

We can then slowly migrate / move Threads into the right akiba sections :)

The size of the forum is okay, we shouldn't really have a problem adding them into our database.
Depending on the size of the images, we need to extend our storage (again - we still got 350Gb though)

(we even can take over the domain, if wanted/needed)
