Kenshin77 & fuwavsgodzilla are right it's a cultural thing. Sure most western guys n gals are familiar with and comfortable with shaved pubic regions. But for the japanese it's taboo. Often they will visit public baths and would be ashamed if they were seen with little to none down there. Even though AV actresses have raunchy work they're typical mild mannered people too.

I recently read somewhere (maybe even here on AO :coldsweat: ) that the reason hentai showed girls with zero pubic hair for so many years was because it was illegal to do so. Rather than hurting the claim, this actually supports the claim that pubic hair is considered a big deal by the Japanese.
