Why is porn so ... dead? All around the world. What ... what happened?

I've been thinking about this for quite a while - and the conclusion I've come to is this ...

The Internet has been around for too long.

See - in the early days - the cost of actually hosting videos on a site and having people be allowed to access them was so exorbitant that the few places that could do such a thing essentially created mainstay gathering points. It was at these spots that all people converged - the people who produced the porn - the people who purchased the porn - and, most importantly, the girls who starred in the porno films themselves.

Like the Universe itself - as the Internet aged - all the different galaxies and systems started moving away from one another. Slowly at first - but bit by bit - by the introduction of cheaper bandwidth and alternative hosting platforms - suddenly there wasn't either a limited number of studios - or the fact that the studios themselves were the only ones distributing the porn in and of itself.

When the original networks and studios started - and then raked in great profits because they were, essentially, the only producers of said material - more and more entrepreneurial minds began joining the field. Now, instead of just a handful of studios, you had hundreds. If not, literally, thousands. The porn dollar can only stretch so thin - and so as well can the talent. Or the ideas. Or anybody that actually knows how to hold a camera properly.

Meanwhile - while this surplus of literally everything was happening - now Tube sites were coming around as well. Before you know it - what were concentrated kinks that had concentrated populations supporting them - suddenly had access to a whole sea of content they would have otherwise most likely never found out about. Not to mention other studios giving them the same products they already liked. Before you know it - fan-bases of the studios themselves started to thin out - with whatever the studios themselves produced going on the tube sites anyways.

Finally - when OF came around - the creator economy essentially drove the last nail into the studio system itself. But - that's a rather incomplete way of looking at it. What it more realistically did was ...

Make porn so ubiquitous, wide-spread, and normalized - that inherently - it just became more or less worthless. A good analogy would be political debate. If there are three shows on television that host political debates - this centralizes not only the viewership - but the subject matter - and the people doing the talking themselves. It's all been funneled into a critical mass. If, however, there are 20,000 different web-series, podcasts, television shows, video-blogs, and YouTube channels, then ... who are all of these people? Where do you find the best? What subjects are currently the most important? And if you find them - will anybody else even have seen it as well? The whole thing becomes a lake of toxic sludge.

And that's where we're at at the moment it feels like - with there really being no great productions being produced anymore - but with porn itself seemingly being everywhere all at once. Throw a condom in any direction - and you'll hit a web-cam girl, an OF model, or somebody doing naked Tik-Tok shorts. But without the actual gatekeepers that would prevent you from (rightly so) seeing 99.8% of these people - everything just becomes a tasteless paste - an endless slurry of ... an endless slurry.

Case in point - if I type any girl's name, like "Lindsay" or "Bellinda" into Google - and then give -VERY- specific qualifications, like: blonde teen, busty, cute, nude, short - what will happen is I will be presented with BellindaPie69 that meets all of those qualifications. And now - this is where it gets truly unsettling. Once I click on that picture - I will then see another girl in the suggested images underneath - one which will be BellindaSky55 - who will have all the same features - and a nearly identical face. So much so - to the point that - thinking they might actually be the same - after looking into it - it's like, no, these are two actually separate people. And then, underneath BellindaSky55, there's BellySkellyFry99 - another girl who looks almost identical to the first two - but this time a goth - but with a nearly identical face, and it's just like ...

Fuck ...

We've gone too far.
