These days I pay a lot of attention to girls'/women's make-up (I live in Japan), and it's really true. A basically average or even below-average girl can make herself look hot through careful use of make-up. I've gotten pretty good at being able to "see through it" and picture how a girl would look with no make-up. :snicker: (It helps having a Japanese girlfriend and seeing the "before and after" day after day. :exhausted: (Of course, in my girlfriend's case, I like the "before" just as much as the "after." That's my story and I'm sticking with it. :bingo:)

Holy...

I've seen so many pictures (mostly from korean or taiwanese bbs') with girls who look pretty much like that. The eyes spookily wide.

Eyelid glue. It can make a world of difference.

I'm not big on make-up though. Much prefer au naturale.

Too much make-up can have a negative impact too, particularly heavy foundation on a pockmarked face.

Brilliant!!!

I love it when this sort of thing gets exposed!

Makes me realise how gullible we can be!!!

And for those of you who have never been to Japan and are still under the illusion that all Japanese women are cute, observe.

(I was one of those people once...) :innocence:

Well, the obscene amount of exposure on the last pictures might have something to do with it as well.

Well I don't think the girl was japanese anyway, but it just shows how easily asian girls can 'kawaii' themselves up. Obviously knowing this will make it easier to see through some of those myspace girls that do this kinda thing and I prefer my favourite idols (and all girls) in minimal make up.
How does the eyelid glue work and how can you spot it, anyway?

As you know, one of the distinguishing characteristics of East Asians is a pronounced epicanthic fold, which is a fold of skin from the upper eyelid that often covers the inner angle of the eye. The extent to which it covers it varies from individual to individual, but in Japan a prominent epicanthic fold results in what's called a "hitoe mabuta" ("single-layered eyelid"). The current ideal of beauty is a less prominent epicanthic fold, or "futae mabuta" ("double-layered eyelid"). Eyelid glue (or a flesh-colored or clear crescent of tape) basically holds the epicanthic fold up, creating the illusion of a "double-layered eyelid."

But this is the first I ever heard of contacts that make your irises look bigger! :dizzy:
