Interesting history, but I was disappointed that the roles of SOD and Waap--especially in upping the game in terms of production values and attractiveness of the women willing to due extreme bukkake, especially mass gokkun--could have been brought into the discussion more. Directors like Aoki Tatsuya would seem to have done more to bring an air of "respectability" and "gentility" to the genre with well-lit and nicely produced versions of some of the nastiest (and best IMHO) bukkake still ever recorded.
at one point in the early 1990s, i got a japanese porn video (not sure if it was called jav back then) whose last scene was a harbinger of the great waves to come. the scene had a girl tied to a chair facing straight into the camera. off to the sides, four or five guys came running up to her, one by one, and shot their loads onto her face before running away. as i recall, they aimed at her forehead. so that while the final credits played on the screen, the camera zoomed in on her face and filled the screen with streams of sperm that dripped slowly down until finally dropping off her chin and jaw. all this took a few minutes… just long enough for the credits to run. naturally, the white globs of goo waned toward the end. but the overall effect was quite memorable.
this was long before my experience with the internet. this was video store rental stuff acquired with a hat and sunglasses and a fake moustache. at some point in the late 90s, i got hooked up. but by and large, i couldn’t download anything. napster hadn’t even happened yet. photos were about the largest file you could easily get. about this time, i recall reading on some long-forgotten forum a description of what was to become internationally known as bukkake. the guy even used the word (which i wrote down) and i still remember his eloquent summation: “the girls get drenched”.
search engines were in their infancy. and there were dozens that were trying to capture a part of the market. but no matter which one i tried, i got no results for the word “bukkake”. yes, there was a time when that word (no matter how i spelled it) yielded zero on all search engines. that soon changed and screen captures from the videos began appearing on photo sites. and of course, once that much sperm was out of that many ding-dongs, it was never going to go back in. webstores legit and otherwise began selling the vhs tapes. bukkake had arrived on the world wide web.
but did my local rental store ever get any? i’ll never know for sure. i couldn’t find any on the shelves. as i recall, the final exchange went something like this:
“got any bukkake?”
what?
“got any BUKKAKE?”
could you take off that stupid fake moustache? then maybe i could understand you.
