There's a oouple things to take into account with Zenra and why it doesn't take deeper dives into JAV history. 1) they are fanboys first. And curating information from an era when most people can't name 5-10 actresses from a decade ago much less back to mid-70s is... tricky. Decades ago there was no agency to the industry, there were no massive media corporations, or holding companies, and it was still fringe in a country where there was a still a massive concern about perception on the world stage. Politics, multigenerational households kept it in the dark where hiring archivists was definitely not a priority. It didn't enjoy a chic movement like American adult films and it kind of blew past that mark and smack dab into mainstream pop culture. That alone is fascinating (to me). I love the topic. It's a gift that keeps on giving, and a soap opera of some kind on a scale that cannot get buried.
